effexor

Avatar n tn i had similar side effects when coming off the depo shot. I thought i was pregnant and took 3 tests. they went away but it took about 6mo. My docs checked my hormones and pituitary gland and they we all fine. It's probably not the effexor but ck w/ your doc anyway.
466024 tn?1208320081 As far as the Effexor side effects go, the first week or two it really mellows you out and yes, you do sleep a little more, at least it affected me that way. I am now on 75 milgrams and after a couple of weeks you settle into your old routine. Effexor has worked great for me, especially with the racing thoughts and anxiety.
Avatar m tn Hi i am trying to find out if any1 else who takes effexor has had as many side effects as i have, which is basically them all including seizures and blackouts? I was on 375mg put due to the risk of another seizure have dropped down to 300mg. Has anyone else experienced as many side effects and do you think its worth all the side effects to be be ?( stable for now neway) .The doctors seem to think its worth it but then they dont have a load of side effects to deal with.
Avatar n tn Cancer removed May 22, 2007, chemo July 2nd through October 8, 2007, and radiation on left breast November 2nd through December 26, 2008. Side effect from Taxol perminent numb toes, side effects so far from Tamoxifen body temperature changes of warmth then cold. The web page sites and telephone numbers did not have this information.
Avatar m tn Treatment started with 75mg Effexor and I got good result quickly. But the side effects started to mount up, I felt lazy, gained weight and lost interest in activities and sex. We cut back to 37.5 mg, things improved a little, but I want to feel more active again. it has been 18 months. Do I dare request to taper off? Is ther eeven a smaller dose? Would an different drug be an option. I think I am dealing with the flash back issue, but then again I am on Effexor!
Avatar m tn Hi there! Well, I've been on Effexor for over ten years. Started at a very low dose and I am at 150 mg for a long time now. So, I can't say if I remember all the side effects I had. But I will say that I definitely got sick to my stomach if I didn't eat immediately before taking it. This went away after a week or so as my body adjusted to the medication. I believe that the jitters and anxious feeling is all part of your anxiety.
Avatar m tn Over the 20+ years I have taken anti depressants, I have experienced quite a few different side effects. Effexor was the best drug I ever took. I did well on it. Whereas others have given me side effects I could not handle. If you really do not want to stay on Effexor, then have a word with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Sweating and constantly being hot are a side-effect of Effexor. I weened off Effexor and am now just on Tamoxifen. I have the occassional hot flash, but it's quite a bit better than when I first started Tamoxifen and Effexor. The mood swings are coming back now almost a year after ending Effexor, but I'm learning to handle that myself instead of with drugs.
Avatar f tn My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.
Avatar n tn Now I am just on the wellbutrin and I am fine, no side-effects at all. Also, the effexor withdrawal symptoms did have nausea, headache, vertigo... as well as other symptoms too for me, so it sounds like it could be effexor withdrawal for you too maybe. Hope the withdrawal symptoms get better soon! I really like wellbutrin, I hope it works well for you too!
411389 tn?1230124477 Thanks Jerzeegal and MrGreen for replying to my post. I really cannot fathom why I would react so negatively to Effexor as what it's for seems so suitable to my disposition. Basically, for ten years I've been taking Diazepam, however, over the past couple of years I stuck with them, even though they failed to achieve any real change in me. I believe I may have been on them far too long and become somewhat immune to them.
Avatar m tn I personally did not like Effexor because there were way to many side effects for me. It works great for some people though.
Avatar n tn s what will continue to happen. Has anyone had these side effects that are ongoing when you take Prestiq? Also, how do you recommend weaning off the medication. In the past, I had taken Effexor and had to wean off by breaking open the capsule and decreasing the grains. Thanks for any suggestions.
Avatar n tn I was on Effexor for about 8 years and gained a lot of weight (but it could be some of the other drugs too). Since I got serious about losing weight my psychiatrist suggested we change to Welbutrin. I was on 150mg Efexor and then we changed to 75mg for two weeks, then 37.5 with 150mg of Welbutrin for two weeks and now only Welbutrin 300mg. It's only 3-4 days that I am completely off Effexor and since then I am dizzy as hell.
Avatar n tn Shortly after I started the drug, I started having hot flashes and bad leg cramps. My doctor then prescribed Effexor for those side effects. I started at 37.5 mg and worked up to 75mg which I took for 5 years. A month ago he changed my prescription to 37.5 mg and said to stop once the medicine ran out. I took my last pill 3 days ago. I feel horrible. I have nausea, dizziness, a swoshing feeling when I turn my head from side to side and just feel bad overall. I have been cranky and moody.
Avatar n tn Not true that people find Effexor more effective. They all affect each individual differently. Effexor tends to have far more side effects than Zoloft, and is known to be much more difficult to quit. On the other hand, are you sure Zoloft is any safer during pregnancy? Whatever the case, you'll have to taper very carefully off Effexor before you start Zoloft so you can tell which is a side effect of Zoloft and which is a withdrawal effect of Effexor.
Avatar n tn Effexor is a Cat C drug, crosses the placenta near the end of pregnancy..there is an increase chance of low birth weight and unknown demise (very low, but there). It will show up in your breast milk. Being a Cat C, it is considered safe to a point (which apparently is third trimester). NEONATAL SIDE EFFECTS: Restlessness, hypertonia, jitteriness, irritability and poor feeding occurred in a neonate after maternal use of venlafaxine for depression during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Ive been waiting to see if any one has had side effects from this drug. I started taking this Feb 2/08 was sick for the first 2 weeks. First period I spotted for 3 days, waiting for the next one no signs of anything yet have been regular for years. Im 46 and not in menapause. Increase in weight gain thought maybe just being lazy.... keep me posted on how your doing. I just started today first radiation treatment 24 more to go !!! Did you have radiation?
Avatar m tn I have never had sweating with Effexor, in fact I have no side effects at all. It seems everyone is different and have different nside effects to drugs. I have taken other anti depressants with horrible side effects, but Effexor really suits me.
2036568 tn?1330482758 I had to stop taking effexor because of the side effects. Generally side effects for a new medication like an anti-depressant, you need to give it 2-4 weeks and things simmer down. You need to decide for yourself if the good outweighs the bad, and then speak to your doctor. Please, please, don't stop taking them outright, figure out a weening plan with your doc.
Avatar n tn Hi there. Effexor or Venlafaxine is an effective drug to control menopausal symptoms such as the hot flashes and mood swings. Though you are correct that this can have side effects similar to what she's experiencing now, these side effects are not that common and I believe the benefit that she can derive from this drug far outweighs the potential risk of side effects. Also, I believe that putting her on Effexor is only a temporary measure so as just to control the present symptoms.
Avatar n tn Yep, welcome to Tamoxifen. Those are all glorious side effects. Suggestion...try changing when you take Tamoxifen (try a couple weeks in the morning, couple weeks in the evening...couple weeks midday), take it with food...and also make sure you drink plenty of water in the day. I take mine usually midday now and the hot flashes have calmed down along with the mood swings.
