Avatar f tn After this and beginning the Tamoxifen ,I suffered severe depression, hot flashes, excessive sweating . I began Effexor and found it helped the depression but not the flashes. Now a year later, I have started having severe ups and downs and mood swings and the sweating still there among other things. I have been taking the B1 and E suggested. can not find the periden c. no help I finally am seeing an M.D.
Avatar n tn I am now trying to wean myself off the Effexor and the side effects are significant (vertigo, confusion...) and the hot flashes seem worse than ever! Is there anything I can do to reduce or eliminate these without antidepressants? I need some help, it is impacting my quality of life and it is very uncomfortable at work. I appreciate any suggestions.
Avatar m tn Hi there! Well, I've been on Effexor for over ten years. Started at a very low dose and I am at 150 mg for a long time now. So, I can't say if I remember all the side effects I had. But I will say that I definitely got sick to my stomach if I didn't eat immediately before taking it. This went away after a week or so as my body adjusted to the medication. I believe that the jitters and anxious feeling is all part of your anxiety.
Avatar n tn Yep, welcome to Tamoxifen. Those are all glorious side effects. Suggestion...try changing when you take Tamoxifen (try a couple weeks in the morning, couple weeks in the evening...couple weeks midday), take it with food...and also make sure you drink plenty of water in the day. I take mine usually midday now and the hot flashes have calmed down along with the mood swings.
Avatar f tn says it works great on reducing hot flashes. If this is so maybe I will cut back on HRT for hot flashes. Thanks!
Avatar f tn If severe enough, dr will rx Effexor to treat flashes. I have been reading such negative information about the side effects of Effexor, and even worse, the are withdrawal symptoms if you have to get off of it. Is there anyone reading this that actually had to take effexor along with Raloxifene? If so, could you tell me please if you had a good, or bad experience? Thank you for any input.
Avatar n tn Cancer removed May 22, 2007, chemo July 2nd through October 8, 2007, and radiation on left breast November 2nd through December 26, 2008. Side effect from Taxol perminent numb toes, side effects so far from Tamoxifen body temperature changes of warmth then cold. The web page sites and telephone numbers did not have this information.
Avatar n tn Hi Grandma 1964, I’m surprised that the estrogen has not helped you with the hot flashes after all this time. It seems that helping hot flashes is the one thing that almost everyone agrees estrogen does do well. What particular medication are you taking? I took Premarin for four months last year, and while it did help with the flashes and night sweats, it did little to help with my anxiety, stress and mood swings. If anything, it seemed to make things worse.
2044839 tn?1331255841 I was recently tried on Zoloft and I thought the side effects I was having were withdrawls from my Effexor and new side effects from the Zoloft ... but it turned out I am allergic to the Zoloft and was having a reaction to it!
Avatar n tn Hi there. Effexor or Venlafaxine is an effective drug to control menopausal symptoms such as the hot flashes and mood swings. Though you are correct that this can have side effects similar to what she's experiencing now, these side effects are not that common and I believe the benefit that she can derive from this drug far outweighs the potential risk of side effects. Also, I believe that putting her on Effexor is only a temporary measure so as just to control the present symptoms.
Avatar n tn Shortly after I started the drug, I started having hot flashes and bad leg cramps. My doctor then prescribed Effexor for those side effects. I started at 37.5 mg and worked up to 75mg which I took for 5 years. A month ago he changed my prescription to 37.5 mg and said to stop once the medicine ran out. I took my last pill 3 days ago. I feel horrible. I have nausea, dizziness, a swoshing feeling when I turn my head from side to side and just feel bad overall. I have been cranky and moody.
518001 tn?1212419235 Effexor did decrease the number of hot flashes. I thought it had stopped working about 4 months ago, so I started weaning myself off it. The hot flashes worsened the first day, so I went back to the 150 mg per day. I take 2 75 mg extended release pills. I take 1 in the am and the other before bed. What dosage are you taking? How long have you taken it? I've been one Effexor for the hot flashes (I think) for 3 years now.
746058 tn?1248344665 Hi, My name is Lois (Groggyfroggy) I'm new here. My OBGYN also put me on Effexor for hot flashes and night sweats because I wasn't a candidate for hormone therapy and I'm going thru' menopause. I happen to have POTS, but wasn't put on the medication for the POTS. I became very sick after that with nausea, shakiness, and a most terrible moodiness. I had to be taken off the medication and it took quite a while to get out of my system.
Avatar n tn I started taking venlafaxine for the sudden onslaught of menopausal symptoms caused by my hysterectomy. The hot flashes were constant and unbearable. It worked wonders! I never had and symptoms of depression before, during or after using the venlafaxine. However, the one withdrawal symptom I am experiencing is the 'buzzing' in my head - or 'brain shift' as I call it.
Avatar f tn since I began chemo a year and a half ago, after bilateral mastectomy with lymph removal. I have been on tamoxifen for almost a year now and still have hot flashes, vaginal dryness and itching, leg pain and swelling. I also take synthroid (after treatment of graves disease years ago). My OB/GYN suggested an antidepressant for the hot flashes and vaginal dryness, but I've since heard that it can reduce the effects of Tamoxifen.
2190999 tn?1504988891 I know Celexa, lexapro and Sertraline both gave me night sweats. They are all selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Effexor is an SNRI, serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. I think since they both inhibit serotonin, that most likely is the reason you're sweating. The effect for me didn't lessen with time, it was every night for as long as I took them.
Avatar n tn I am on this zoloft medication for two days and have been getting hot flashes all day. I am a 34 y/o male and wanted to know if this is common in men. As well I am super anxious and irritable in only 2 days of taking this medication. Can someone please shed some light?
Avatar n tn Definitely talkto your doctor...it is possible its side effects from going off the meds, I had the terrible side effects from coming off effexor and they told me to wait it out, 6 weeks Ispent in the house, lost my job and everything, finally i put yself back on it and the side effects went away......you might be very sensitive to the pills like me and have to wean off more slowly...how did you wean off?
Avatar n tn I too am on 175 - 200mg of Zoloft and I admit when first starting the medication I was feeling quite dizzy and nauseated. Dosage started at 50mg, then after a week increased, and every week increased until I reached 175mg. In the past my doctor has had me on Celexa and Effexor but Zoloft seems to work the best, for me that is. Everyone is different. I waver between 175 - 200mg depending on the kind of day I'm having.
Avatar f tn I recently had a cyst removed about the size of a grape from my left ovary, however when we went into surgery my dr found one the size of my uterus behind my uterus attached to my right ovary. As a result due to shape n size n history my dr removed my rt ovary. I cannot go on birth control since I've had breast cancer 2 yrs before. I'm currently 37. & feel the effects of hot flashes. I'm just wondering is this to be expected? & if so what else should I expect.
929728 tn?1256162688 When I was on clomid I never have cramp but i did realize my moods changed quickly. hot flashes, i didn't experience that.. Take your clomid at night is the best.. One side effect for me was my uterine lining getting thinner... i have to switch clomid to femera.
701313 tn?1228347713 When I first started taking it, I felt like a zombie, but convinced myself to continue longer, and hope the side effects would subside, as they did. So, for a while, the hot flashes subsided and my moods seemed to be consistent. However... it's been 2 months, and I talked with my doctor. I told her that it seemed to be ok, but the hot flashes are starting back up, and I'm finding myself (quite the social butterfly) wanting to be home, alone, more than out with my friends.
378102 tn?1215571666 Finally my hot flashes are almost gone... maybe one a day now down from 1000 a day last September.... Avatar f tn and who also has a lot of experience w/ side effects of drugs and chemo. This is what has helped my sweating and hot flashes. I find this very helpful and hope all of you will try and find a QUALIFIED , EXperienced homeopathist to help w/ unbearable side effects. Homeopathy is very safe.I know a lot of traditional m.d.'s will poo-poo the suggestion but nothing they have suggested has worked.
