effexor

466024 tn?1208320081 As far as the Effexor side effects go, the first week or two it really mellows you out and yes, you do sleep a little more, at least it affected me that way. I am now on 75 milgrams and after a couple of weeks you settle into your old routine. Effexor has worked great for me, especially with the racing thoughts and anxiety.
Avatar m tn Hi there! Well, I've been on Effexor for over ten years. Started at a very low dose and I am at 150 mg for a long time now. So, I can't say if I remember all the side effects I had. But I will say that I definitely got sick to my stomach if I didn't eat immediately before taking it. This went away after a week or so as my body adjusted to the medication. I believe that the jitters and anxious feeling is all part of your anxiety.
Avatar f tn Sweating and constantly being hot are a side-effect of Effexor. I weened off Effexor and am now just on Tamoxifen. I have the occassional hot flash, but it's quite a bit better than when I first started Tamoxifen and Effexor. The mood swings are coming back now almost a year after ending Effexor, but I'm learning to handle that myself instead of with drugs.
Avatar m tn Hi i am trying to find out if any1 else who takes effexor has had as many side effects as i have, which is basically them all including seizures and blackouts? I was on 375mg put due to the risk of another seizure have dropped down to 300mg. Has anyone else experienced as many side effects and do you think its worth all the side effects to be be ?( stable for now neway) .The doctors seem to think its worth it but then they dont have a load of side effects to deal with.
Avatar n tn Now I am just on the wellbutrin and I am fine, no side-effects at all. Also, the effexor withdrawal symptoms did have nausea, headache, vertigo... as well as other symptoms too for me, so it sounds like it could be effexor withdrawal for you too maybe. Hope the withdrawal symptoms get better soon! I really like wellbutrin, I hope it works well for you too!
Avatar m tn Over the 20+ years I have taken anti depressants, I have experienced quite a few different side effects. Effexor was the best drug I ever took. I did well on it. Whereas others have given me side effects I could not handle. If you really do not want to stay on Effexor, then have a word with your doctor.
411389 tn?1230124477 Thanks Jerzeegal and MrGreen for replying to my post. I really cannot fathom why I would react so negatively to Effexor as what it's for seems so suitable to my disposition. Basically, for ten years I've been taking Diazepam, however, over the past couple of years I stuck with them, even though they failed to achieve any real change in me. I believe I may have been on them far too long and become somewhat immune to them.
Avatar f tn My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.
Avatar n tn Ironically I have not suffered any of the usual side effects that I have had before and am wondering if Effexor/Lamictal have lost their effect on me. I know I have had some difficult depressive episodes over the past six months, but thought it was just the holidays. I know when I went onto them this time around I didn't feel as good as I had in the past. Paxil, Prozac, etc don't work for me b/c they stop working after a few months.
Avatar f tn -Mary4868 I suffer from depression, and my doctor did try me on Wellbutrin a while ago. I'm not sure about it being a "wimpy drug", but i do know that i had to stop taking it because of some side effects. i think if i remember right, it made me pretty tired, and also really irritable. i think if i were you, i would try effexor. my mother takes that and she has had really good luck with it.
Avatar n tn s what will continue to happen. Has anyone had these side effects that are ongoing when you take Prestiq? Also, how do you recommend weaning off the medication. In the past, I had taken Effexor and had to wean off by breaking open the capsule and decreasing the grains. Thanks for any suggestions.
492527 tn?1212175672 ) and also has a reputation for creating a host of creeping side effects (side effects that appear slowly over time as you take the drug and hence are particularly difficult to link to the drug unless you are forewarned that they may appear). The FDA put out a warning letter on Effexor in 2004 highlighting the "withdrawal syndrome" and noting many reports of side effects that had emerged since the drug was approved-- anecdotal but alarming.
Avatar n tn i had similar side effects when coming off the depo shot. I thought i was pregnant and took 3 tests. they went away but it took about 6mo. My docs checked my hormones and pituitary gland and they we all fine. It's probably not the effexor but ck w/ your doc anyway.
469331 tn?1207189895 When the doctor suggested effexor I asked about side effects and was told the WORST and only real side effect would be lack of sex drive (which already being depressed wasn't really an issue anyway..lol). I asked SPECIFICALLY about weight gain and was told EFFEXOR is one of the best because of it's lack fo weight side effects (I'd worked really hard to lose all my baby weight and was about the fitest i'd EVER been and didn't want to lose that).
Avatar f tn I have found that just about every SSRI SNRI and Tri-cyclic antidepressant has sexual side effects. I have been on many and they all caused this issue with Libido. I can't really say that any one was worse than the other in that respect. This sexual side effect is probably the one side effect of these meds that is almost universal. I have met very few people on any antidepressant that has not had issues to some degree or another with lower Libido associated with antidepressants.
Avatar n tn will probably remain on it for life I find it does have most of the side effects listed on the leaflet that comes with it. Whilst the downside's not good, it's better than being too anxious/depressed etc to be able to enjoy anything. I'm on a very low dose now ~ 75mg. It may not be doing much now,but I won't risk a relapse by stopping it. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn Would be interesting to hear what people has to say about it; side effects, effects, how long you can be on it, the need to up the dosage, etc?
1696867 tn?1312609591 I started on Abilify for my Bi Polar 2 weeks ago. After 2 days I had to halve the dose, as the side effects were so debilatating (?), but the side effects are still horrendous. I have no ability to concentrate, problems focussing, shake/tremors and no energy at all. The only good thing is that my moods seem better than they have in ages. My question is, how long do I need to put up with the side effects?
Avatar m tn re going to respond to the same med differently. I took Effexor and it did help my anxiety alot. But the side effects got to be too much and I had to quit taking it. There are alot of antidepressants to choose from. I can only give you my opinion on this one. It caused alot of problems for me but might be the right med for you. Take care.
