effexor rash

It does not give me the rash. She added Effexor recently and my rash returned. She wants me to see a psychiatrist for medication help but so far none I have contacted have any appointments available. My question is, is there anyone out there that has had this reaction to SSRI's or SNRI's and what did your doctor do? Or can you tell me who I should ask?

i tried wellbutrin and got a rare reaction to it--a rash from hell. i went on effexor xr 75mg. then. took it for about 4 yrs. it stopped working so i have tapered off of it. talk about horrible withdrawal sxs. awful!! i have successfully selftreated those. i have read that lexapro has withdrawal sxs. very similar to effexor. would not take lexapro and effexor together.

ive been on effexor now for two days now, and for some strange reason now i feel lioke **** dayin and dayout i know the only time i felt a bit better was only one half hour i took my second dose , ifeel jittery anxious i ve had diarea all morning after the second dose.I dont want to take my third dose after dinner tonight because i feel worse than before i started taking effoxor.Its a beautiful day outside for once and im stuck on the couch only to be five steps from the washroom .

For a couple of weeks my husband was taking Effexor and his prescribing doctor had told him it would either make him very up or very down. During this time he was very lathargic and slept all the time, he only moved from the bed to his recliner. He had wild dreams, had confusing thoughts of where he was or what was going on around him. He developed a reaction to the Effexor causing a rash and itching on his entire back. I took him to the local StatCare and he was told to stop taking the Effexor.

I was on Effexor (Venlafaxin) for over a year- 75mg... two months ago my Dr doubled my dose because the depression symptoms were coming back and he thought it was possible I had built up a tolerance.... So then 150 mg of the POISON !!! Immediately I developed an itchy rash of what seems like acne all over my back, chest, shoulders, arms and stomach as well as my scalp (under my hair). It has itched and refused to heal for a month and a half.

Not having insurance, Effexor XR is quite pricey, $150 + a month and I had felt it was time to get off the drug. I had been reading (and crying while I read) other peoples experiences stopping Effexor. My doctor put me on a slow three month withdraw program. and I can say I am day #2 off EffexorXR! But that is about the extent of the excitedness. Can't sleep, or when I do, nightmares and starnge dreams insue.

It started when I went from 450mg to 600mg effexor and i am not sure if it’s a coincidence or something that anyone else has experience?

ve been taking 200mg for a while now --went back to the doctor and told her I was on effexor before so she decided that would probably work in my favor so I'm taking the smallest amount possible of the efexor along with the limictal. I've been taking it together for a couple of weeks now, but have noticed it's interfering with my concentration, pluss it's almost iffy that I may be back where I started...could it be that I havn't taken it long enouph?

I not only gained weight on lithium but developed a serious rash on one hand. It took a dermatologist to prescribe med to get rid of the rash, but it kept coming back, however my psych doctor said lithium did not cause it. But when I stopped taking the lithium, the rash was gone and stayed away. I am now on Lamictal and Lexapro which seem to control my bipolar.

The only side effects I have noticed is a little bit of a rash, nothing bad. Looks like a little case of heat rash. But the benefits for me are way worth going through the side effects.

I am currently on wellbutrin for 3 weeks and I now have some kind of rash, urticaria for 3 days. I just called my dr and he asked me to stop immediately since the rash is around my eyes as well. Had sexual side effects and gained some weight but I am not positive is from the Lexapro but I think may be. The Dr gave me Effexor which knocked me out for 3 days, slept 36 hours straight, then Celexa which I broke out in a rash all over my body from. He tried Wellbutrin but that did nothing. I didn't lose weight on it like some people do.

Great, not only am I bipolar in a mixed state which sux worse than just depression, I'm taking medicine that could give me a filthy rash that is potentially life threatening. I think i've hit a new low damn it. But at least I feel like I'm addressing this properly now. And maybe(?) my mood will stablise and I can stop taking effexor, and stop cycling and stop having this stupid condition....be in remission.

I switched from effexor to wellbutrin. I had to be on both medications at the same time for a long time because of the effexor withdrawal... it was so hard to come off the effexor, I was at the lowest dose for a very long time, 25mg, because I couldn't get off of it the withdrawal symptoms were too bad for me.

Effexor is a very effective antidepressant. Many find SNRI's such as Effexor to be more effective than SSRI's such as Citalopram. Another alternative that I have found even more effective is Pristiq. It is made by the same company that makes Effexor and is almost identical in every way. I found relief with Effexor for several years, but now that I am taking Pristiq I have found it to be even more effective than Effexor.

in the case of Effexor (Venlafaxine) it is ok to start most SSRI meds (Including Paxil) without first tapering down on the Effexor. In fact many people take Effexor along with an SSRI med as part of their treatment. Effexor is different enough from Paxil that the odds of an adverse interaction is very uncommon. Now you would not be able to do the same with another SSRI like Zoloft, Lexapro, Prozac, ect.

I started taking 150mg of effexor last week, but now i'm feeling bad. Do I need a larger dose or smaller dose? Getting very frustrated. Have also just went from taking cymbalta and abilify to the effexor and abilify, but went off the abilify because of the weight gain. Dr wanted me to try wellbutrin and go off the effexor, but don't think it was working. Now I'm really confused on what works. Now I have one continuous heat wave all my waking hours! I am covered with heat rash, I crank the AC. I sweat so much I have 0 concept of temp. except too hot. Yes I'm angy, getting depressed, and tired all the time. I sleep most of the night with onlygetting up 3-4 times. MD wants me to go back on HRT. Not interested as it just delays the inevitable, BUT, I need help. Other than a 37.5 mg. dose of effexor sr to reduce symptoms, 25g. atenalol for the racing heart and a 20 mg.

effexor has been great for me. dont get scared off by side effects.

When I went from Celexa to Effexor gained 30 pounds. I have finally got off of Effexor, which is very hard to get off. I'm now on Zoloft and the weight is slowly coming off.
