Effexor menopause

Common Questions and Answers about Effexor menopause

effexor

1110049 tn?1409402144 I wouldn't like to think that ladies who do not need Effexor for depression etc. are being prescribed it for hot flashes. We all know how difficult it is to stop Effexor. I agree completely. If people want to treat the hot flashes that come with menopause, they should not be Rx'd Effexor, they should opt for the HRT. I know there are risks associated with HRT, but it just doesn't make sense to treat hot flashes with a med as notoriously difficult to come off as Effexor is.
Avatar f tn Seems you have quite a few problems here. The menopause causes frequent hot flashes, and also Effexor causes sweats too. Many people have said they get sweats with Effexor. The question is, what is causing your sweats? Sounds like the menopause to me. Oh those sweats are awful and frequent. I had an early menopause and was put on HRT which stopped the sweats. I was not on Effexor then.
Avatar n tn I’ve never taken Effexor, but I have seen that it has been prescribed for menopause symptoms. I had a look at the listed side-effects and at what people are saying about it at askapatient.com, and it looks as if the headaches and blood pressure problems you experienced with Zoloft are very commonly reported with Effexor as well.
Avatar f tn Sweating and constantly being hot are a side-effect of Effexor. I weened off Effexor and am now just on Tamoxifen. I have the occassional hot flash, but it's quite a bit better than when I first started Tamoxifen and Effexor. The mood swings are coming back now almost a year after ending Effexor, but I'm learning to handle that myself instead of with drugs.
Avatar f tn This is my question.. Will the anxiety go away after menopause. Can someone please answer this. And I hope it good.
Avatar f tn Sorry so late to post, but I have been using Remifemin for years and can't live without it! As soon as I stop using it, the night sweats, sleepless nights, moodiness and inability to concentrate reappear. My gynecologist recommended it. I'm 52 now and am officially in menopause, but I started using it during peri menopause. It's much cheaper per month than the Wisdom formula and it's available at Walmart.
Avatar n tn i have been using effexor xr for 6 or 7 years and now that i in menopause i have gained some unwanted weight and i read that wellbutrin or zyban will help with the weight issure....would this be an ok trade???
Avatar f tn You might want to talk to your doctor before you quit Effexor cold turkey, and ask her about Wisdom Menopause Formula. It really does work!
Avatar f tn Has any of you menopausal gals(like myself) had any experiences with reduced hot flashes while using Effexor? I am on HRT now and just started Effexor for anxiety and my dr. says it works great on reducing hot flashes. If this is so maybe I will cut back on HRT for hot flashes. Thanks!
Avatar n tn It has been 1 1/2 years since my last period. The only symptom I really experienced during that time was hot flashes. Recently I have been concerned that I was going through depression. Now I don't belive that is the case. Could I be experiencing mood swings due to menopause this long after my last period (1 1/2 years ago); even if I never experienced them when going thorugh menopause?
Avatar n tn Jeez....I thought I had it bad with having insomnia for over 8 months. I'm pretty sure mine is caused my my thyroid med level and going thru menopause. I figure my dosage level isn't going to change and Lord only knows how long I'll be in menopause. I've been on Effexor XR for hotflashes for almost a year. I tried to ween myself off these past few weeks because I thought the Effexor might be causing my extreme fatigue and found myself crying at work for absolutely no reason.
Avatar n tn We have been married 6 years, we separated 2 years back, during our separation she had some problems, got involved with some drugs (crank) for a short time after which she started seeing a psychiatrist, he diagnosed her as schizophrenia and has her on effexor xr 225mgs a day, the problems she is having is she has periods where she just wants to cry and wants to hurt herself by banging her head on something, she has these symtoms sometimes together sometimes separately.
746058 tn?1248344665 Does anyone here with POTS take Effexor? I just had a hysterectomy July 13th and have had a flare up of POTS symptoms. I saw that some OBGYN Dr.s perscribe it after hysterectomies for help with hot flashes and mood swings due to hormone changes, but also saw that some cardio Dr.s prescribe it also to help with POTS. Does anyone here have any experience with it?
Avatar f tn s wants me to completely stop having periods and wants to put me on Zoladex along with the tamoxifen, which will throw me into menopause right away (she wants to remove as much estrogen from my body as possible; the other Dr. suggest I stay on tamoxifen because he claims I should still be having periods. He does not agree with the Zoladex recommendation becasue he says it will upset my quality of life and make me more prone to osteoporosis later in life... I'm so confused as to what to do.
Avatar n tn In the morning with nightgown, heavy an slippers, I cant seem to warm up either. I know I am at the age where menopause symptoms begin but something is just not right. Im sure of it. I have had past endocrine problems in the past,'Cushing" about 15 yrs ago. I went to see my endo Dr.and he want to put me on effexor? What else could I explore or what kind of test could I insist on having to diagnose this problem.
Avatar f tn I stopped Effexor XR 75mg 11 weeks ago... I stopped cold turkey. I took this drug for over 10 years at varying doses - mostly 150 mg... I was unable to work for almost 4 weeks due to the severe symptoms that it seems like everyone experiences (brain zaps, extreme irritability and crying spells, headaches, flu like aches, inability to concentrate etc etc) After the first month or so, it seemed like I was finally stabilizing.
Avatar f tn is this really menopause?
Avatar f tn I was very angry, hated the Effexor and resented the doctor who looked like she was 12 years old. What does she know about menopause!!?? I think the possible dangers of Effexor far outweigh the extremely low dose of estrogen I was taking. I found another doctor and now am back on track with my low-dose estrogen and beta blocker. If any cancers rear their ugly heads in the future, then I'll of course have to rethink my estrogen use, but for now, it's what I need.
Avatar n tn I took Effexor for over 8 years at a very high dosage. Verdict is still out as to if it caused the pre-cancer I had. I think it might have, but who knows! Depression is a symptom of thyroid problems and many people have doctors who fail to understand that correct levels of thyroid can help prevent depression which then mean no anti-depressants. Do you take any thyroid replacement medication? What was your TSH before starting the Effexor. It is important to keep it in perspective.
Avatar f tn If you can tolerate Effexor XR, it does help with the hot flashes and mood problems. However, it will give you a horrible headache/ill feeling for the first week. Once you are on the medicine, it works really well. Getting off the medicine is equally horrible. I'm 2 years into tamoxifen, just weaned off Effexor in early March after a year and a half on it.
Avatar f tn I have been having mood swings, chills/hot spells, fatigue and other symptoms. I also am on estrogen for menopause sym[toms that was recently changed. Doctors can't decide if it's hormonal or anxiety. Anyone relate? I have been on lexapro for 9 years. Have tried a couple other antidepressants with no luck.
Avatar m tn i am almost off of effexor after taking it for ten years. (150 mg effexor XR.) I didn't add any other medication as I decreased the effexor. I used a method I found online which made sense to me (http://www.clinical-depression.co.uk/anti-depressants-withdrawal/introduction/). It also addresses the issue of the half life of the drug in your system which is significant if you've been on the time-released, apparently since it builds up to a greater level. Anyway.
Avatar f tn Could anyone tell me what it is going to be like as I come out of drug induced menopause. I have been on Zoledex and Femmera for five years. I stopped taking the Femmera over a week ago and would be due for my monthly shot yesterday. To control the symptoms I have also been of Effexor XR for five years and have now switched to the non extended release about a week ago so I can be weened off.
Avatar f tn I am taking effexor and estroven over the counter with minimal effect. Its been 5weeks since the surgery.
Avatar f tn I have had trouble maintaining my weight since menopause. I lose weight very easily now. Over the last couple of years I have had a CT, MRI, and all sorts of bloodwork. My doctor is convinced it is just one of those things. Said she has a handful of patients that have the same thing after menopause. I take effexor for hot flashes, cholesterol medication and advair. I can't imagine any of them making me lose weight so easily. I was never heavy, but watched what I ate.
Avatar f tn t had a good nights sleep in well over a year. I have been to the gynocoligist, internist, endocrinoligist. The internist put me on effexor about 6 months ago, but as I have reported to him, I see no difference. I have healthy eating habits, and I exercise on a regular basis, and have always been EXTREMELY healthy. Due to family history of breast cancer any hormonal treatment is out of the question. I am at a complete loss as to what to do next.
