Effexor energy

Common Questions and Answers about Effexor energy

effexor

Avatar f tn Listen, you do NOT want to try to taper off Effexor yourself. Effexor has a reputation for being very difficult to discontinue. A taper should be EXTREMELY slow. By slow, I'm talking months, even a year. You're dropping your dose WAY too fast. You're going to end up making yourself feel even worse, which I think you're discovering. If the Effexor wasn't helping with your depression, there are other options.
Avatar f tn If you're saying the Effexor was working well for your depression but isn't anymore, it may be it's tapped out -- these drugs do poop out on many people. The only solution for that is to change meds. (if you do that, do it very slowly, as slowly as you need to).
Avatar m tn My doctor just started me on buspar 15mg a day for anxiety in addition to my antidepressant effexor. The effexor wasn't cutting it by itself. does anyone have any experience with Buspar? any feedback is welcome.
540093 tn?1279821834 i am on 150 mg effexor xr and these r the classical side effects of effexor dont worry they will end up soon
Avatar f tn Hi all. I posted recently about my Effexor withdrawal hell! I am now over two weeks without effexor, but I also started prozac to help. The worst of the withdrawal is over and I am able to function again. However, I am still feeling some symptoms. Wether this is due to withdrawal or the prozac start up side effects I'm not sure. What I do know if that my psychiatrist thinks its just plain old depression and not the withdrawal. She increased my prozac from 10mg to 20mg.
5203459 tn?1373367904 I've read that you cannot take this if you are on a SSRI, but Effexor XR is considered a SNRI. I just wanted to make sure before I start this regimine. Starting it to help come off of Tramadol.
Avatar f tn Hello, i count my blessings i feel so good atm, i decided to stop my Effexor 2 days ago. No brain zaps or confusion, nothing. I tapered very quickly from 225mg to 37.5mg in 12 days, then stayed on 37.5mg for around 9-10 weeks. I have been so lethargic and sick with sore bones almost daily for the whole 9-10 weeks. Within 32 hours of stopping, my energy came back, my mood lifted, i feel focused more than i have in a very long time. More importantly, ive stopped craving sweets !!!
Avatar m tn m supposed to take half a 50mg of zoloft and take my one 75mg of effexor every second day. Then next week stop taking effexor completely and take one 50mg of zoloft once daily. I've heard from people that coming off effexor is hard. Was wondering if anyone has any advice or experiences them self switching from effexor to zoloft? Yesterday night when I was trying to go to sleep I had like a terror panic attack and scared me and took me a little bit to calm down and get over it.
Avatar f tn t gain a single pound while on wellbutrin which was one of the few things I liked about wellbutrin) and I want something that will give me energy and not make me extremely dizzy. I also would like to avoid sexual side effects but I know that's not likely as wellbutrin is one or the only that doesn't effect sex drive. Any thoughts or suggestions you have would be much appreciated!
Avatar f tn I have been on effexor xr for 6 weeks. My doctor prescribed me 150mg 4 weeks ago. But I upped the dose for 2 weeks that I took 300mg week ago. I felt terrible, had and still have head ache, thoughts race, derealisation... Could this dose cause it? I decreased the dose to 150 mg again but still got derealisation... When I first took effexor 2 months ago, 150 mg worked great, derealisation disappeared, was happy, fianally "saw colors", anxiety was gone...
1090984 tn?1463769850 It may take you a few months before you can fairly assess the effectiveness of the Effexor. Effexor can be more activating, which may help with the weight issues and motivation down the line. EVERYONE is different, what may be a miracle for you may do nothing for me. Try to go into it with an open mind, allow yourself to have your own experience. As for the weight gain, I know it's discouraging and frustrating, but don't get too hung up on it right now.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking 75mg of Effexor XR at bedtime. It makes me SO tired during the day I can hardly be productive in anyway. I have read that Effexor ONLY acts as an SNRI at 150mg's and above. Anything below- Effexor is just an SSRI. I got had to get off of Zoloft because of how tired it made me. Is it possible that by talking with my doctor to increase my does to 150 mg; would the tiredness decrease?
1690500 tn?1305906946 The withdrawal effects from Paxil and Effexor XR in particular are the worst. Withdrawing from Effexor XR using a low dose of Prozac helped a bit. You may want to tuck this piece of information away if you ever need it down the road. Before supplementing your regimen with 5-HTP, please discuss it first with your doctor. Although I believe you are correct regarding its association with serotonin, it's best to get the "ok" from your doctor.
492527 tn?1212175672 What does everyone think about Effexor. I have been suffering from depression and anxiety. I have no energy at all. I have been taking zoloft for 2 weeks but it is making me tired and haven't seen any change at all. I was thinking about switching to effexor xr. Is this a good choice.
611559 tn?1233776445 When switching from Paxil to Effexor, I lost about 20 of the 60lbs. Effexor was given to me at 75 mg per day; then to 150 mg. of Effexor per day in a.m. A new doctor changed me to Effexor XR 300 mg. per day, taken 150 mg. twice a day. Though i lost about 20 lbs. after stopping the Paxil, the weight started going back on until i was back at 60 lbs. over normal. After some time, I felt that I was doing well mentally, and I discontinued one of my Effexor pills per day.
532848 tn?1214345168 I was on effexor for 5 years and it sounds like your not on the right medication. I had the same effects and came off of effexor XR becuase of it. There lies another problem. Coming off of effexor XR is pretty rough. I have posted on it in the forums. Effexor is one drug that I would really look into before staying on it. I am not a Dr and not telling you what to do but if it were me and I were feeling like you are I would goto my DR. immediately and tell him how it was making me feel.
Avatar n tn Although everyone reacts differently to a particular medication, my experience with Pristiq is that it was no different from the Effexor XR I had been taking. I'm now back on Effexor XR. The two medications are almost identical. You do need to give it about four weeks before you make an assessment about its effectiveness. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I was on a high dosage of effexor for years and, before that other anti depressant drugs for 17 years. I've weaned myself off, finishing in February, 2009. What are the side affects after so many months? I went through withdrawls like a junkie would for 2 months. I am now interested to see if what and how I am feeling is due to the lack of that drug or some other cause. Thank you.
1110049 tn?1409402144 I found that adding Wellbutrin to my Effexor (generic red/white caps) has help immensely to give me more energy and level off my mood.
4753943 tn?1359934569 Thanks...Yeah I've started stocking up for the week. I bought the vitamins and have imodium...and i'm staying with my grandparents for half the week so I have access to a bath and epsom salt. I just can't stop anticipating it that's the biggest problem. I have a major case of insomnia and I am so low on energy. I thought about stopping the effexor in the summertime instead, I'm just super bummed because I had this year all planned out.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have just come across this site. I am 7 days off Effexor after being on a 300mg dose for 4 years. I also have quetiapine at night to help me sleep. I have been experiencing what now seems to be normal side effects - brain zaps, different emotional states, crying for the first time in years, anger, frustration which is very hard for my husband and children and I just feel like a failure.
4753943 tn?1359934569 t know much about it. I take Adderall for ADD and Effexor for anxiety...but Effexor is considered an Anti-Depressant. I'm on the lowest dose, though so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. And as far as Adderall goes, I'm only supposed to take it for work and school, as needed. So I can stop taking that if I try the supplement. I just think feel like the lack of energy is making everything feel worse than it has to.
Avatar f tn Hello! Anyone else on the new med. Fetzima? Wow! What a difference it makes! Finally something that is for anxiety AND depression and with minimal side effects! Yay! No weight gain, and increased energy! It's classification is an SNRI, not an SSRI. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this or currently taking it?
Avatar f tn I'd wait. You seem to suffer from anxiety, not just depression, and Effexor is a more stimulating antidepressant that can exacerbate anxiety in many people. SAM-e is also a stimulating antidepressant because it's part of the process the body uses to produce energy for many things.
Avatar m tn Now i am on 150mg for 3 weeks and 3 days, and notice a noticeable improvement in my motivation, sleep, energy and impatience but my mood still depressed. I read that others things like mood and pleasure come later... So...how long before effexor fully works? Sorry for my **** english.
4753943 tn?1359934569 Today my doc switched me from Effexor to Cymbalta because I have chronic back pain and she felt the Effexor was not helping me at all. My main concern is stopping the Effexor. Has anyone switched like this before? I want to know if I should still expect the intense Effexor withdrawal symptoms such as brain zapping, nausea, dizziness, and crying spells. Any advice would greatly help. I want to know what I'm getting myself in to!
