effexor and remeron

How well can Effexor XR 150 mg plus Remeron 15 mg help depression, and how long does it take to see any improvement?

If I had to guess I would have to say it's the Remeron that is causing this. I took Effexor for many years and it never made me sweat, but when I dropped the Effexor for the Tri-cyclic Nortriptilyne.... OMG! This Nortrip makes me sweat like an absolute pig! Remeron is a Tetra-cyclic AD and is more closly related to the Tri-cyclic Nortiptilyne so my bet is that it's the Remeron causing this and not the Effexor. Do you also find that your much less tolerent to heat?

Has anyone had night sweats while taking effexor and remeron together? Im now a two to three a night jammie girl, the night sweats are so bad. am edgy and cant sleep. The night sweats **** me off, as I wake up wet and cold. I mean soaked. Not hormonal, been checked. My sleep is being affected, making me more anxious and depression worse. comments please???

Hi. I'm on tamoxifen so I can't take any meds which inhibit cyp2D6 enzymes. I've been on almost ALL SSRI ( Effexor, lexapro, celexa, nortriptyline, fetzima, & viibryd) & my depression worsens with them (suicidal thoughts, etc). The only one that has helped is remeron but every time I've had to return to remeron I gain weight. I'm usually 110-112 and eat very well & workout almost everyday.

im so upset, my dr put me on abilify in september with my effexor, my libido got very low and i wasnt able to come, now the dr is taking me off effexor and abilify and put me on celexa...now my libdo is completely gone and i cant come at all....it was the only thing i had left i was able to enjoy, i could always get in the mood and able to come fast and at least 2 times, now it just hurts and i dont want to do it....is this from the celexa?

I would give Remeron a shot before trying Abilify as Remeron is supposed to have reduced side effects compared to several other antidepressant and you are subject to less interactions.

I have been taking Remeron 30 mg since September 21, 2009, for depression/anxiety. I have few side effects (craving sugar most of the time). Anyhow, I have been experiencing mild panic attacks for about a week, nothing in particular is trigering this onset (at least not conscient). I have to take .5 of klonipin to kill the panic attack. I have used lexapro in the past for 8 weeks without any success.

I have been taking Remeron since 2009, I do have 5 mental health diagnoses which are, Borderline Personality Disorder. PTSD, Depression, Anxiety and OCD. I have not found that the Remeron causes me to eat more and my diabetes is under control, my blood sugars are staying at a normal level. My psychiatrist just increased the Effexor yesterday, and I am really hoping this helps, and yes, my psychiatrist told me about the withdrawals of stopping Effexor.

When I was taking the triptan Axert, and I was on a different antidepressant, Effexor... I once got very sick and my doctor thought it might have been Seretonin Syndrome and changed my triptan to Zomig (Axert only comes in a very high dose). I never had any problems with the Zomig, and I took it while I was on the Effexor for a very long time.

I have followed your advice and talked to my dr about your alternatives. I have tried SSRI's in the past (3 different ones Milnacipran, Prozac and Citalopram) and they just didn't kick in. Since the remeron had such a good effect on me except for the weight gain, he tried to stay in the same family. He prescribed me trazodone but I had an allergic reaction to it, my heart was bouncing out of my chest.

I had terrible anxiety, and am now on 150mg Effexor XR. All the anxiety and panics have gone and I feel relaxed. No anxiety, no panics. Magic!!

Yesterday my doctor upped my dose to 300 mg cz of no to minimal improvement after a month I am also taking seroxat and dogmatil. Do u think the upping my effexor dose my help and kick in ? I am really sick of anxiety and depression . I also have obsessive thoughts . All aspects of my life are affected badly and I feel that it is hard to live this way. Can u plz help me . My doctor has been talking to me about Remeron. She seems to think that that would help me a lot and she says that the sexual side effects aren't bad like Paxill. I take Wellbutrin and she wants to add the Remeron with it. Does anyone have any input? Does it kill your sex drive? Does it cause weight gain? Is it sedating? Most importantly, how bad are the withdrawals if you stop taking the medication?

I will say though, it helped my Headaches. I was eventually taken off of the Remeron and put on something else and for the life of me, can't remember what it was. It started with an L I think. It's been a while since I've taken an Anti-Depressant. I would suggest that if it hasn't worked in the next month or so to talk with your Doctor and switch to something different. If I remember the name of the drug I took I'll let you know. It worked great with no weight gain.

every now and then. Has anyone out there been on Effexor for this long? I so, did you change, wean yourself off or decide to stick with it?

Welcome to the club, I also suffer from Social anxiety and get red blotches on my neck and chest area when in social situations. I'm seeing a psychologist and she put me on Effexor XR 75mg have you tried it?

About a year and a half ago I was put on Remeron for depression and a month or two following that I was diagnosed with Bi-Polar and was put on Depakote too. I've never been so MANIC in my life!! This past year and a half has been hell trying to stabilize my moods. I've tried Lithuim and Abilify too and still it hasn't helped. So, I'm back on Depakote. When they upped to dose of Remeron from 30mg to 45mg, because they said I seemed more down and depressed.

So I have a choice I guess - be fat and free of wanting to kill myself or stop taking this Remeron and get myself back in the hell that is my severe depression and be skinny. It's no shock that this weight gain happened. My Psychiatrist told me flat out that taking Remeron is like wanting to gain weight. He said it is by far the most weight producing AD med on the market and he didn't lie. Sheesh! I guess I choose to live and be heavy.

My husband has been taking Effexor and Remeron for the past few years to treat his depression (which has been working great), however we rarely have sex anymore. I have openly discussed this with him. He has talked about this with his psychiatrist (who wanted to prescribe another anti-depressant that might increase his libido - he declined). Anyway, I'm really attracted to my husband still after 17 years! We both love each other dearly and, well I need sex sometimes!

t have severe anxiety but I have met a lot of people on Remeron, Klonopin, and Seroquel (usually not at the same time) and although all of them are great for anxiety, some of it is cognitive. What has been going on in your life recently that has changed which made you want to start smoking marijuana? If you just had a minor elevation in anxiety than talk to your therapist (if you have one) and ask them what you can do along with the meds to pull you out of it.

hello, i have been having some digestive issues, and a recent colonoscopy suggested that the medications i take (wellbutrin, effexor, remeron -- all high doses) has caused my bowels to become sluggish... but he didnt say which one, or if it was the combination of all three... it's driving me nuts and i really need a solution to the problem...

I have been taking Effexor XR and Wellbutrin at max doses for a year, and my depression and anxiety are not controlled. I was put on Serequil for a couple of months and did not like the effects at all and I am now off of the Serequil. ANY SUGGESTIONS? I am not doing good at all.

If you ever want to be fat, just take Remeron. I 100% guarentee it will put 50Lbs on you in just 4 weeks. It makes Lexapro and Effexor look like diet pills. As for Welbutrin. You have to trust me. Swap that med for another fast. It's perfectly safe, but is probably the least effective AD med on the market. I can tell you about hundreds that I have talked to that had the same "do nothing effect" from Welbutrin.

I was able to have a few drinks from time to time and come home and go to bed. with the remeron, I find it weird to take a anit depressant before bed after I've been drinking beers at a football game for 4 hrs. Anyway, if you could tell me what you think, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks again.

I asked my doctor about Effexor and he said it's the same as Wellbutrin and wouldn't prescribe it. Weird...he then prescribed Lexapro but it made me very sleepy so I stopped taking it.
