Does anyone have any experience with Mirtazapine [remeron]?My doc RX for depression and anxiety. If so did it help?and what kind of side effects were there if any?Thanx in advance.
I can't even take a half of a decongestant without getting jittery. Same with caffeine and sugar. He put me on remeron at night and the lowest dose of effexor in the morning about a week ago. I did fine for several days then it started feeling like it was too stimulating. I had my appt. this with my Dr. and we are weaning me off the effexor and will try just the remeron. I like the remeron because it helps me sleep at night. Hope this works.
Is there any adverse reactions to taking effexor Xr and remeron together. I am taking 75 mg. effexor Xr and 30 mg. remeron. I was on Zyprexa 5 mg., but have decide to go off due to irritability. PS - I have used every anti-depression on the market since 1980. Sometimes I would just like to throw away all my medicines and take nothing. I await your reply.
I have followed your advice and talked to my dr about your alternatives. I have tried SSRI's in the past (3 different ones Milnacipran, Prozac and Citalopram) and they just didn't kick in. Since the remeron had such a good effect on me except for the weight gain, he tried to stay in the same family. He prescribed me trazodone but I had an allergic reaction to it, my heart was bouncing out of my chest.
I have been taking remeron 30 mg since September 21, 2009, for depression/anxiety. I have few side effects (craving sugar most of the time). Anyhow, I have been experiencing mild panic attacks for about a week, nothing in particular is trigering this onset (at least not conscient). I have to take .5 of klonipin to kill the panic attack. I have used lexapro in the past for 8 weeks without any success.
Also I have this dang ringing in my ears that does not want to go away. I questioned my doctor about taking remeron and cymbalta together and asured me that they work great together. I honestly don't know if I can stand this feeling. My husband wants me to hang in there. EKKKKKKKK. What to do?
When I was taking the triptan Axert, and I was on a different antidepressant, effexor... I once got very sick and my doctor thought it might have been Seretonin Syndrome and changed my triptan to Zomig (Axert only comes in a very high dose). I never had any problems with the Zomig, and I took it while I was on the effexor for a very long time.
remeron 3 weeks ago after 5 months of trying Paxil (didn't work), effexor (worked but didn't won't to have to up the dose to get the full benefits because of bad withdrawals), Lexapro(way too stimulating even though I take 3 mg. Klonopin a day and was only taking 5 mg.) and now remeron. After 2 weeks on the remeron, I feel calm and relaxed like I haven't felt in so long, not to mention being able to sleep at night (I was sleeping maybe 3 hours a night but a restless sleep).
Hi. I'm on tamoxifen so I can't take any meds which inhibit cyp2D6 enzymes. I've been on almost ALL SSRI ( effexor, lexapro, celexa, nortriptyline, fetzima, & viibryd) & my depression worsens with them (suicidal thoughts, etc). The only one that has helped is remeron but every time I've had to return to remeron I gain weight. I'm usually 110-112 and eat very well & workout almost everyday.
Since the ankles and feet continue to swell after being off the remeron for a week and a half, can I assume the remeron was not the cause? Question-2: If remeron was not the cause, should I have a blood test to see if there is a white-cell increase indicating something else is going on? Thank you.
She seems to think that that would help me a lot and she says that the sexual side effects aren't bad like Paxill. I take Wellbutrin and she wants to add the remeron with it. Does anyone have any input? Does it kill your sex drive? Does it cause weight gain? Is it sedating? Most importantly, how bad are the withdrawals if you stop taking the medication? I went through the hell of Paxill withdrawals and still don't feel like their gone totally.
I am taking 300 mg. effexor and 20mg. Celexa and 30 mg. Risperdal at night and now the doc has added Klonopin, (I have yet to take the Klonopin bc I am so afraid of becoming addicted). I still wake up in a very depressed mood untl I take my meds in the morning and they kick in. I think the effects just wear off during the night and have considered changing the timing of my meds till later to see if it helps to carry over till the morning. Don't know, just a thought.
During the first 2 weeks, I experienced many undesirable side affects such as nausea, loss of appetite, headaches, jitteriness, muscle jerks, chattering teeth, constipation, confusion, hyperness, difficulty having an orgasm, and hot flashes that seemed to last 30-60 min. The effexor has lessened the anxiety and anxiety attacks fairly well, and has helped my mood a little.
I am finding that I have a craving for carbohydrates. I have heard that the newer anti - depressents (like Celexa and remeron) are better for one if one doesn't want to put on weight. Is this true? How should I go onto the Celexa, if you consider it a better choice? I am diabetic (non-insulin dependent) and therefore it is important for me to watch my weight. I also take a lipitor (10mg.) at night.
DONT DO IT!!! PAXIL and effexor ARE BOTH HIGHLY ADDICTIVE and THOUSandS OF PEOPLE ARE CURRENTLY FIGHTING TO GET THEIR LIVES BACK FROM THIS CRIPPLING CREEPING ADDICTION!!! Wyeth is a disgrace. To know that they were and are fully aware of the physiological addiction of effexor XR and have not made such information publically available is sickening. When starting effexor a year ago, I was brought up to a dose of 300mg/day.
My brother has taken Xanax, Paxil, Seroquel, Ativan, remeron and nothing has helped. He has very severe anxiety and depression. Please need your feedback.
New Phychiatrist wants me to discontinue remeron and go to effexor, with trazodone for anxiety which may come due to remeron withdrawal. My objections to this are the withdrawal effects that i have read concerning effexor, plus the sexual side effects, as well as an additional med for anxiety. So far (day 6 of remeron) all days have been good except one (and that period was only for about 3 hours). I have the normal somnolence with this med, but everything else appears to be alright.
The 18 mg of effexor has reduced my facial blushing and social fears. But anxiety and depression are still there. Yes, I am attacking these cognitively and through my faith in Jesus Christ. Question: 1. 18 mg of effexor seems to be the point where teeth clenching and anxiety and nausea are not activated or are trivial. Is it possible that 18 mg of effexor for is like 100 mg for another (I am a small person according to the body charts)?
My boyfirend was taking remeron 30 mg, Lithium 300 mg and effexor 100 mg. The dr then gave him Wellbutrin 150 mg instead of the effexor. While he is taking these medications he also drinks alcohol. Can anyone tell me if this treatment sounds normal and what will be the effect of drinking while taking these drugs? He suffers from bi-polar disorder.
My libido became non-existent, I was gained weight, my digestive system seemed out-of-wack, and I'm not sure that it helped my anxiety. I'm not sure it was related to the effexor XR, but I was bruising very easily, and I was obsessive about spending and "projects" during this time. I should also mention that I am on 30 mg of Adderall XR for ADD. My Dr. decided to switch me to Wellbutrin XR which would also help me quit smoking.
Hi, I am on effexor as well and have gained about 12 pounds since starting as well. My doctor doesn't think it is in direct connection with the effexor but I am struggling with whether or not I should get off it because I can't explain the weight gain. The explanation given makes sense to me, so I guess I need to focus more on my eatting habits.
I just need to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. At the highest point I was taking 3 drugs; 3mg Clonazepam, 60mg remeron and effexor. I still felt horrible. So the only thing that make sense is to stop taking these meds tappering off them slowly.
Hello...I'm new. Considering I can't seem to find *any* info about effexor and what it does to the CNS - I've been on it since...November. and it's been working wonderfully for my anxiety and depression, but not being able to construct a sentence - verbally - all the time?? It's driving me crazy, and I dont' know whether this is effexor, or me. I have some head trauma, I don't know which is which, or what's what for that matter. Any info would be seriously appreciated.
I was scared of withdrawals so I had him change me to remeron. I am starting week 4 of the remeron and just took my last effexor yesterday. He said I should not have withdrawals because I was on remeron but I was still scared to take the chance. He told me to drop to 37.5 for one week, then take 1/2 of the 37.5 for the next week, then 1/2 of 37.5 every other day for the last week. Well, after the second week I started having more anxiety, some dizziness, brain zaps, etc.
I was told to go ahead and start taking prozac, and I assumed that meant go ahead and drop the effexor; So I did just that, and right away I felt very sick to my stomach, nauseated, and funny feeling to my head, which now I know the feelings is better described as, Shocks, or "zaps". I have been trying to explain the feelings to my husband but didn't quit name the feelings till now. The "shocks" seem to be getting worse everyday.
I have been on effexor xr 225 mg every morning for about 3 years and 15 mg of remeron every night for about 6 months..My doctor is changing me from the effexor Xr to Lexapro...He dropped me down to 150 mg of effexor xr every morning and 10mg of Lexapro at dinner for 7 days..and then to drop the effexor down to 75 mg for a week with 10mg of lexapro and then the same thing with the effexor for another week at 37.5mg and then just stop and continue the lexapro..
I have been taking effexor XR and Wellbutrin at max doses for a year, and my depression and anxiety are not controlled. I was put on Serequil for a couple of months and did not like the effects at all and I am now off of the Serequil. ANY SUGGESTIONS? I am not doing good at all.
