effexor

Avatar f tn now as i sit here on my 4th day of effexor withdrawal im left with racing thoughts, crippling physical effects and no one to turn to. ever since i was a young child i've dealt with depression and anxiety. it wasnt until i was in junior high that my parents decided to try therapy and medication for me. it took me several different doctors until i finally found one that truly felt had helped me.
Avatar f tn Ever since the incident, I had troubles feeling emotions, then thinking and then expressing myself and being able to study or perform in tests at the university as before. I still have this problem and I can't concentrate enough to read anything, no matter how much I try and would like to. This applies to any kind of text. I just scan it through. With the new semester beginning, I'm already facing problems and it's my final year - research project and lotsa writing.
Avatar m tn Well now they have found out that my thryroid is not working and put me on 100mcg of levothyroxine and 500 mgs of glucophage twice a day. i take 150 mg effexor xr in the morning. now the sweating is embarassing. i live in texas and i refuse to go shoppping or anywhere else unless i have to. my head sweats until my hair is soaking wet. i MUST have all of these medications. my question is : is there anything...herbal or otherwise that i can do or take to help with this.
Avatar m tn I am starting to see a therapist next week so that may help, but after such a long struggle I am wondering if I should just go back on. I went off because I had not had deep emotions in years and it felt like the drug was not working well anymore. Please share your thoughts.
Avatar n tn I went off of effexor recently and it caused all types of symptoms. I was feeling like I could not catch my breath, heart was racing, nausea, dizziness, and very thirsty. I felt like I was having a heart attack. Everyone has different withdrawl symptoms and some may not have any. Once I was done weaning off of the drug the symptoms decreased and finally went away completely. I have been totally off of the meds for 2 1/2 weeks and feel wonderful.
Avatar f tn ok in day time but i cant sleep t lay in bed and sleep a lot. i wish i could get my happy back and my emotions. nothing feels right/ i feel nothing and i know that is noy good.
Avatar n tn After 20 years of anti-depressant addiction, I finally weaned myself off effexor over 2 months ago. Since then I have felt my head clear up and emotions stabilize, but the damage done by the month or so of withdrawel anxiety behaviors has destroyed my life. Let me explain briefly. I did have extreme agitated behavior for a month then it leveled off.
Avatar m tn I take 300 mg of Effexor XR, which is a high dose. It's been decreased from 375 mg. The recommended highest dose by the manufacturer is 225 mg. My doctor just added Wellbutrin to my regimen, so I'm hoping I can lower my Effexor XR even more. I do believe (and I'm not a physician) that 450 mg of Effexor is way too high a dose. If you brother is having suicidal thoughts, does his doctor know about this?
Avatar f tn d recommend an SNRI, and my favorite is the tried-and-true oldie, effexor (venlafaxine). Start low and give it time. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am coming down gradually off my anti-depressants, i was on 100mg of sertraline and im now on 50mg and trying to come off them altogether. So far im coping ok, i thought that coming down would unblock my emotions and allow me to feel my emotions instead of them being numbed, but so far i only feel a bit more emotional and still find it hard to cry. I would love to just have a good crying spell to get all the heavy sadness i feel out!
Avatar n tn I got my creativity and reasoning abilities back and I think you will, too. I think Effexor takes a while to get out of your system. Good luck.
469331 tn?1207189895 I saw 3 different doctors / specialists about the bleeding and weight gain and ALL 3 knew i was on effexor and even when I asked if that could be the cause was told NO WAY - and thus I agreed to have the surgery. Yet NOW after tons of research of medical journals, online forums..ect I realize that the 3 major issues that have ruled my life and made it just as bad as being depressed have been due to EFFEXOR.
Avatar f tn My previous doctor tried me in Effexor instead of estrogen for extreme menopausal symptoms and migraines because the clinic now refuses to prescribe estrogen to anyone. I had been on low dose (.25 mg) estrogen every other day over 25 years since I had to have a hysterectomy when I was in my 30s. On Effexor I could not even function. I could only work for a few minutes at a time and then would feel exhausted and unable to concentrate so I had to lie down. I cried all the time.
228936 tn?1249094248 I was on effexor for years and it helped me when I first got off drugs I was addicted to for years . After several years the effexor made me not feel many normal emotions like grief and made me semi impotent. I got off off it a year ago and it was a bear but am glad. I wasn't taking anything for months but the my doc wanted me to try welbutrin which I take but don't know how effective it is. It does seem to take away the urge for smoking so I continue taking it.
Avatar f tn I have been on Efexor XR for 4 years tritating between 75 & 150mg, I was started on Efexor to help me deal with grief. I have decided to cease this as a situation I found myself in recently made me realise just how much mentally this medication was supressing, (yes it helped me wonderfully during a time of horrible emotional turmoil with no support) cause I didn't have to think about anything, I just popped this little pill and went to my happy place.
Avatar f tn I had the same experience with SSRIs in the beginning. I started taking Lamictal and ramped it up to 200mg along with Effexor and Abilify. That's my list for now with no complaints. I still feel myself cycle up and down but the highs and lows are much less. I'm definitely more balanced and much much less depressed. Finding what works for you is the hard part. Just don't get frustrated and give up looking for relief.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you're depressed, and after 2 1/2 years it's very possible that your body has built up a tolerance to the Effexor and it's no longer working. Depression robs us of any motivation we may have, and we just don't care about anything anymore. Contact your doctor and let him know how you are feeling, he will know what you need. Best wishes and take care.
4381782 tn?1353736993 She said the switch straight across, that I would be fine. Well I have to say this is day two and I am sick to my stomach, jittery, and my emotions are all over the board. I'm starting to wonder if should of tapered the Effexor off. If anyone can give me some insight in to this I would be very grateful. Honestly I have not had that good a luck with doctors. My first refused to diagnose me with any disorder of the sort because he didn't believe in medicine for emotional issues.
Avatar n tn I went from Effexor to Wellbutrin but had to go back on Effexor. The Wellbutrin made me soooo mean, as a matter of fact, it made my depression 10 times worse. I would get with my p-doc and let him know you are going crazy on the Wellburtrin and need some help asap and get off the Wellbutrin.
1472535 tn?1287684045 I am not familiar with mirtzapine, but I can tell you for the 11 years I was on effexor I lived with flu type symptoms. Mine would come twice a month and caused me to feel horid for a couple hours a day. Due to my experiences with prozac and effexor, I am only in favor of natural supplements now. The decisions you make for your body are for you to decide. You know what is best for you.
Avatar f tn 5 slowly over a 8-9 week trial I been off it now for more than 45 days but am having major issues and I think they are due to the lack of Effexor. I am very very emotional (we all know that this Rx bascially takes away your emotions). I am in my final semester of nursing school and am failing. I cry all the time cannot concentrate even though I take Adderall. My family and my doc think if I go back on the low does maybe it would help me.
Avatar f tn Cold turkey is difficult. I did stop Effexor like that once, and the withdrawals were bad for a couple of weeks. I took 10 months to withdraw the next time, as I had to go back on to Effexor because my depression returned. I had no withdrawals at all that time. 9 months later I do not have depression, but anxiety is coming back. The advice on Effexor withdrawal is always take it very slowly, as the withdrawals are very bad.
Avatar n tn Was taken off EFfexor d/t side effects and am now only on Wellbutrins XL 150-300 daily. I was prescribed Ativan 0.5 mg and this casued me to be MORE anxious, cry out of control and feel out of control (paradoxical effect). If Ativan caused this to happen, would the same occur with Klonopin, Xanax, or Valium? I don't know what to do but am not functioning well with constant worry, exaggeration of emotions and inability to make small decisions.
190673 tn?1259203266 I have been taking Effexor XR 450mg and Buproprion 450mg for a couple of years. I'm weaning off the Effexor, going onto Pristiq and continuing the Buproprion.
