Ultram should not be taken for nerves, hot flashes or depression. It is very addictive and at the dosage you are taking you can expect some withdrawal after a month or two. I would taper it off slowly and hope for the best. Ultram withdrawal can be bad and can last for quite some time.
It's so depressing to find that 2 years since I quit, there remains such a lack of knowledge about tramadol in the medical profession. Best wishes.
here is the fda information on ultram FDA pregnancy category C. Ultram may be harmful to an unborn baby. Ultram may also cause serious or fatal side effects in a newborn if the mother uses the medication during pregnancy or labor. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Ultram can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
this is what I found Non-teratogenic Effects Tramadol caused a reduction in neonatal body weight and survival at an oral dose of 80 mg/kg (approximately 2-fold MDHD) when rats were treated during late gestation throughout lactation period. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. ULTRAM ER should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
tramadol has alot to do with seratonin release so ssri's are usually not taken with them if u take a high dose of tramadol each day...WB is mostly a dopamine enhance with minimal effect on seratonin ...it does have a "speedy" effect for some and helps restore motivation and energy for depressed people who get the kind of depression where it is hard to get out of bed..and it works well for them...i liked it but it interfered with my sleep....
I would suggest that if you have to take Nyquil at night (I'm guessing you take it to sleep or to relax) that you are taking for the alcohol effects that are in it, that maybe you try to drink a glass of wine instead. One glass of wine a day has been proven in certain studies to be healthy during pregnancy. Not all would agree with this and I'm only saying this because you are drinking Nyquil already, I myself would not recommend this otherwise. I wish all the best.
Hi I have been taking 150mg of tramadol for one year and I want to stop! I was wondering is it safe for me just to stop or should I taper down? Thanx for your time!
I am in the process of getting off of tramadol. It was prescribed for me for ocassional use for mild to moderate pain like headache, muscle soreness, etc. I used it only ocassionally for several months. About 4 months ago, I became involved in a fairly intense project and was experiencing more discomfort. Without really thinking much about it, I started using tramadol every day and then increased this to 2-3 times each day.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding Tramadol is in FDA pregnancy category C; animal studies have shown its use to be dangerous during pregnancy and human studies are lacking. Therefore, the drug should not be taken by women that are pregnant unless "the potential benefits outweigh the risks".[28] Tramadol causes serious or fatal[citation needed] side-effects in a newborn, including neonatal withdrawal syndrome, if the mother uses the medication during pregnancy or labor.

Your energy will be zapped for awhile with the WDs and the pregnancy at the same time. Don't forget to eat well, and keep plenty of fluids in you. Gatorade or apple juice is great and will help with leg cramps.

I have read several posts from women who have taken pain meds during pregnancy, has anyone had a baby and took tramadol during pregnancy or vicodin? I know neurontin has shown to have negative effects on the fetus but tramadol and vicodin have not but they haven't been proven safe either. I took vicodin for year before I was diagnosed and was then switched to tramadol for long term use. I called my ob's office and told them my pain level but they did not seem to care.

I have been taking 5mgs of Tramadol 2/3 times a day for a while - a script from a doc who gave them to me for headaches. I just realized that I am 8 weeks preg and the doc said it was OK for me to keep taking them. That since it's keeping my headaches "at bay" and Tram is a 'safe drug' that I shouldn't have any problems. Do we trust this? I'm reading on here everyone talking about the bad effects and hard times that they have had getting off of it.
and drug side effects and interations. . Since I'm in a very mush jello mode today, I didn't spend much time reading every article I found. Try using your search engine and see what you can find. I've never had side effects like that........I would call/visit my doctor who prescribe Tramadol to me and get to the bottom of this issue. vaginal bleeding sounds very abnormal especially that you haven't had it for 3 years. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have taken a few more occasionally when my husbands RX would come in (same med) but not for a long period of time. Typically just in my Rx dose and not buying from elsewhere. I also have been on fioricet. Both for migraines. I had crept up to the daily max of fioricet (6/day) and knew that the Tylenol in them could be making headaches worse. So I asked my dr about weaning off of that. When I did he suggested I wean off fioricet and tram.
I didNT know I was pregnant and was on heavy doses of tramadol for migraine. Foundout at 4 Weeks and weened off last week. Has anyone had a similar experience and what was the outcome? So worried please help.
Hello, I was really hoping to hear from someone who has chronic back pain and has taken tramadol and/or Vicodin/Hydrocodone while pregnant. A few years back I was in a terrible car accident leaving me with 3 herniated discs, 2 bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, and Interstitial Cystitis - so needless to say I am in a GREAT deal of pain and I am also 15 weeks pregnant!
With my son I was having neurological problems and I aggravated an old back injury, so they put me on initially vicodin, then percocet during my pregnancy. I was not able to taper off as the end of pregnancy caused my neurological problems to skyrocket, but my son was still born at 39w4d perfectly healthy, and no dependence issues. They are both very bright and sweet and healthy to this day...
