Avatar f tn Look up some articles if you want to know the effects of smoking. You don't want to put anything into your body tat isn't good for either of you while you are pregnant. I don't know of any doctors who would encouraged you to continue smoking unless you are stressing out more from not smoking.
Avatar n tn One of the side effects of smoking is small birth weight and I smoked til 4 months pregnant with my youngest and she was nearly 10lbs so that's not true but I don't like the idea of my flump absorbing all toxins x
Avatar n tn Me myself I found out I was pregnant and stopped immediately. I just thought of it like I was smoking a cig and blowing into my toddler and/or infants face continuously. Like I said its all on you no judgment passed here..

Avatar n tn Also I had an information leaflet that told me how not smoking for whatever amount of hours /days /weeks etc affected mine and my babys health. I also watched the effects of smoking had on an unborn baby on YouTube and that was really eye opening. And people saying that it is more harm to the baby quitting cold turkey is absolute rubbish!!
Avatar f tn Google how smoking effects your baby. One was it increases the risk of sids (sudden infant death syndrome). That alone should be enough for someone to quit but a lot of moms turn a blind eye to the negative side effects. Best of luck quitting! !!
Avatar f tn Although I understand all of you and your feelings about smoking anything while pregnant, that is just your opinions and your personal choices. If someone else doesn't make the same choice you do, is it up to you to judge? I mean, i read that you are all saying you aren't here to judge, but all of your comments are pretty condemning and judgemental.

Avatar f tn I believe that the effects of Chantix on a pregnant woman or on the embryo are unknown as it has not been tested on pregnant women. Basically, this means it is not safe to take while pregnant (since the adverse affects are unknown). Regarding the patch vs. cigarettes, they both deliver nicotine, which is dangerous when pregnant and can cause miscarriage. The difference is that the patch doesn't have all the tar and other cr ap that enters your lungs.
Avatar f tn s run by a psychologist, and there is a lot of self-training (so you can do sort of like a series of phrases yourself when at home when you have a craving). Maybe you could find something like that. I've also heard of a little device that you wear on your wrist and whenever you think of a ciggy you push the button and it gives you a little shock. In other words, it begins to train you to think negatively of cigs. You might look into that.
Avatar n tn s the person you should trust God bless everyone and if you are smoking while pregnant god bless that baby of yours cause that is awful and not fair for your baby . Again talk to your OB!

Avatar f tn But with all the talk of losing my baby over a simple decision I could of easily made quitting while pregnant is my only option. So I have quit, and yes I miss it very much, but being the mother my child deserves is more important, and your baby doesn't get to choose the body it wants to be put in. I am not against mothers who smoke while pregnant its just not for me anymore.
Avatar f tn I used to smoke but I quit right away after I found out I was pregnant. You have to be strong find ways to deal with your stress instead of smoking I know it's hard I've had to deal with stress and depression every single day I went thru some hard times but always convinced myself smoking wasn't an optionbe strong for your Baby.
