7385901 tn?1402928016 It will get into your breast milk and effects the brain develop of babies. Pot stays in you blood a long time, smoking once it is traceable for at least two weeks. If you smoke regularly it will stay in your system for as long as 4 months. Another person posted about failing a drug test after she hadn't smoked for 6 weeks. I ask the lactation specialist for the exact specifics, i'm sure they get the question a lot.
Avatar f tn Hi lexi. Welcome. While I would never advocate smoking while pregnant now, I did smoke with my first 2 kids. Today my oldest is a 3rd year law student in one of the best law schools in the country. Her sister graduated from highschool with her associates degree that che completed at the same time. She was 16. She is now working on her masters. Just a little reassurance.
796455 tn?1325858257 Well I don't know about pot smoking...I know my mom smoked pot but don't think she did it while pregnant. Now as for cigerettes....my mom quit smoking with my brother....he's never had breathing problems, nor has he ever smoked...he's always hated it with a passion....now with me she DID smoke the entire pregnancy. I have always had breathing problems...my first few years I had allergy triggered respiratory issues...I also have asthma.
Avatar f tn I have a close friend who has been addicted to marijuana for a long time, she also smoked during her pregnancy and no they did not test her for it when she gave birth. I don't know much on the effects of marijuana use during pregnancy but I strongly suggest that you look into that for the benefit of the baby. I know that she breastfed for quite a while, continuing to pass the drug onto her child. Our sons are the same age and have been friends since infancy.
Avatar f tn So, I have heard both good & bad about smoking pot while pregnant. I'm 6 weeks along & I enjoy smoking pot, but I don't want it to effect my babys development. I am willing to quit for the sake of my child but if it doesn't effect it, I don't see why I can't. I just keep getting different things about it.
Avatar f tn Will weed affect the baby ? i know alot of people who do it while pregnant ....
Avatar f tn s opinions on smoking marijuana while pregnant? what do you see wrong with it? is it really bad? i hear alot of people say its bad and I hear alot of people say theirs nothing wrong with it..
Avatar f tn None of these people can really give you a real answer. Just an opinionvreally. My mom smoked with me and not my two brothers and i am probably tje most well adjuated considering ones drug addict and the other has adhd flucked out and it took jail to graduated. I carrie a 4.0 and hve never been in trouble and never done drugs. Do what you think. If you have to do spme research . I personally sont think its harmfil i smoed during my pregnancy and my daughter is amazingly healthy.
Avatar f tn m pregnant too and going through tapering off my pain medication because of it. My doctor was aware of my prescription and nobody told me to stop the pain medication but I knew in my heart that it was the best thing for the baby and the right thing to do. I live in WA and pot is legal here so I asked my doctor about switching from narcotics to marijuana to help with w/d to get off the meds and he said absolutely not.
Avatar f tn What are some serious short term and long term effects from smoking weed while pregnant? I'm barely 3 months, and I still smoke pot but not most of the day everyday like I did before.
Avatar f tn But anyways I will be 15 weeks tomorrow I have smoked about 6 times since I found out I was pregnant. Before getting pregnant I was a regular pot smoker. But with all the talk of losing my baby over a simple decision I could of easily made quitting while pregnant is my only option. So I have quit, and yes I miss it very much, but being the mother my child deserves is more important, and your baby doesn't get to choose the body it wants to be put in.
Avatar f tn I used to smoke but I quit right away after I found out I was pregnant. You have to be strong find ways to deal with your stress instead of smoking I know it's hard I've had to deal with stress and depression every single day I went thru some hard times but always convinced myself smoking wasn't an optionbe strong for your Baby.
Avatar f tn Ohkay so I useto smoke everyday until I found out I was pregnant I was about 2-3 weeks pregnant and still smoking cause I didn't know but now that I know I havnt smoked since I'm 11 weeks now but I get soooooooooo tempted to smoke again >.
Avatar f tn It was our bonding thing... We always had a good time.. I got pregnant and stopped smoking.. My boyfriend still smokes and there have been days where he doesn't smoke and I just can't stand to be around him.. He's got a depression problem as well. As much as I'd love him to stop, I know it isn't going to happen.. I love when he's happy and when we're curled up watching a movie and he's all giddy, nothing makes my heart melt more..
Avatar f tn t say stop mum your hurting me, but you can make the choice to say, IM not going to hurt my baby by smoking pot while pregnant. No drug or alcohol is the smart thing to do. Don't let anyone tell you different, every drug is a mood enhancer, it changes the way you feel, it's chemicals have the ability to give you a high or low with you having no control over it, so of coarse the baby will be affected in some way.
Avatar f tn The primary addiction to weed is a psychological addiction, the memory of the highs you once felt smoking pot always come back and make you want to try to reach that feeling again even if it takes you more and more pot to do this as you become more resistant to its effects. The smoking goes from a pleasurable action to a habit with little real benefit just a perceived one. To compound this many pot smokers have friends who also smoke and it becomes a social thing making it more ingrained.
Avatar m tn Their newborns can experience mild withdrawal and some nervous system effects. And the toxic effects of pre-natal marijuana exposure is the gift that keeps on giving. Effects are often not readily apparent in newborns. Still, psychologists who have studied these babies have found neurological delays. Likewise, few negative effects are apparent between the ages of 1 and 3. But a woman shouldn't be fooled if she has heard of a study where the very young kids show no ill effects.
Avatar f tn I havent personally, but I have done lots of research on the health effects. Aside from that, know your states laws about it. In illinois, they test the baby at birth and if he/comes back positive its an automatic call to childrens services.
Avatar f tn I say deal with the fatigue till baby is here and if thc helps you then go for it but Dont smoke anything while pregnant. it can starve placenta of oxygen. smoking anything will do that. its not necessarily the weed thats bad. its the smoke.
