Common Questions and Answers about Effects of smoking for 3 years

smoking

Avatar f tn Congratulations :) I was a smoker too, and I smoked for 6-7 years, I tried and tried to stop smoking but I just couldn't do it! I tried everything but nothing seemed to work, then 5 weeks ago I found out I was pregnant! After nearly two years of trying for a baby I was overwhelmed! I still continued to smoke for a couple of days, but only a couple of puffs from my husbands cigarette 2-3 times a day, then I looked online about the effects off smoking whilst pregnant and quit straight away!
Avatar n tn I've been having constant pain in my back for 3 years now, its not just my spine but also it's infecting my lungs. i am a smoker. So i think that might have something to do with it. I have also been spitting a lot for the past 2 years. I've tried everything and can't stop the pain in my back or quit spitting. I even stopped smoking for 2 weeks but it seemed like the pain and spitting got worse!. So i just wanna see if there's any clue what might be going on?
Avatar m tn You are not going to do permanent damage to your brain from a couple nights of drinking and smoking pot. I don't mean to encourage doing things that have some risk of creating dependency, but the actions of cannabis are temporary-- as are most of the effects of alcohol-- provided you aren't drinking to the point of alcohol toxicity (for example, drinking so much that you pass out, repeatedly).
Avatar n tn I've been vomiting nearly every couple of days for three years now. As the years progressed so did the severity of my problems, along with the frequency of vomiting. The past month has been terrible. Nearly every time I try to eat I'll vomit within 15 minutes. I've been on a strict Alkaline diet for a few weeks now. When I first started the diet *seemed* to help for a few days, but now nothing I do is helping and the decline of my health is rapidly increasing.
1010685 tn?1295032636 I am trying to quit smoking anyway and took it for a while about ten years ago for depression with no bad side effects. I know SSRIs are probably better for anxiety, but I hate the sexual side effects. I also considered ativan, but since my mood swings are so intermittent and short-lived, I don't know if they would kick in in time to help.
Avatar m tn Really wanting to get off norco 10/325's. Been using for over 3 years. There's no way I can taper down unless so someone locks them up and gives me a ration each day. I did get my monthly amount cut down from 120 to 75 but now just running out faster. I also have a BuTrans patch that I wear. I recently got that cut down from 10mcg from 15. I find myself calling everyone I know just trying to get through a few days. My mother wants me to take off work and go to a rehab.

Avatar n tn There is not much standardized research done on this due to the illegal nature of marijuana. You can find MANY websites on the effects of cannibis and blood sugar, though and I am surprised you are on this one asking questions. Do you really think someone is gonna get on this site and admit to breaking the law????? Please!
Avatar m tn I am unsure what to believe, especially because most media is biased either in favor of marijuana or against marijuana. I have been an occasional marijuana smoker (2-3 times a week) for about a half of a year. I just would like to know a doctor's perspective, as I am unsure what to believe at the moment. I understand that emphysema is unlikely with marijuana due to the airways that it affects, but what about other serious lung diseases?
Avatar f tn I quit smoking in February of 2000 due to chronic sinusitis. I used the gum for about 3 months to aid me in quitting and it worked well. In September of 2006 I had a stressful event happen and was on the brink of picking up a cigarette. I decided to start the gum chewing instead of smoking. I have been on it ever since. I guess I am coming to the realization that this nicotine gum can be very bad for your health if chewed past the recommended timeframe.
Avatar m tn its been 24 hours since i smoked....i need to take my medicines again...i got sober after 3 hours of smoking....its been almost 38 hours since i last took my medicine,i really need to take them again....what do i do?
Avatar m tn Hello, I am 16 years of age and I smoke marijuana every single schoolnight, and on weekends. I started smoking about 3 years ago, and have been smoking almost every day for a year and a half. What could be possible negative effects, is what I am wondering. It does not effect my work ethic, Ive gotten one C on a report card in two years. I love skateboarding, and stay active doing this every day that is possible. And I absolutely love to smoke weed, by myself, every night.
Avatar f tn I have smoked about a pack a day for 5 years. Im 11 weeks now and still smoking 2 to 3 cigarettes a day I tried to stop all together but when I dont smoke thats whwn I seem to throw up.
Avatar m tn In 2006, I had an infection in my tonsils so bad that I had a temperature of 104 for one week straight, and then 101 for 3 weeks. I was in the hospital twice for elevated heart rate, the first time I was stuck at 140, the second my BPM was 185 while resting, even while observed for hours at the hospital. The ER doctors were stumped, but noticed when my temperature when down via meds, my heart rate would lower to 100-115.
Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old male, a school drop-out, and DAFNE graduate, who was diagnosed with IDDM at 9 months of age, although was ill from about 3 months. I have been smoking cannabis for 6 years as of this month and started out recreationally, but now use it to help control my diabetes and balance out my very up-and-down depression (diagnosed at 13 years), as well as for a recreational relaxant.
Avatar n tn The severity of the difference would also be dependant on the length of your Herceptin treatment. Oncologists monitor these side effects very closely and I'm sure your Onc. will take this into consideration and discuss the risks of continuing your treatment. The longer the treatment the less the incidence of heart damage but each case is different. Regards ....
Avatar f tn I decided to quit taking it as I figured smoking was better than prison for murder! I have smoked for over 25 years and have quit a couple of times over the years but always went back. For Christmas, my kids got me the electronic cigarette and it is actually working. I have went from 1 pack a day to 2 cigarettes a day. I smoke 1 real one in the morning and 1 real one at night. During the day I will take a couple of puffs off the electronic one.
1422823 tn?1287679280 I am hoping the three days post op will push me into stopping again. But I have a hard time right now stress is worse than the smoking side effects.
Avatar f tn I agree with Sammy it isn't as easy as it seems and it's way easier said than done. My cousin smoked the whole time she was pregnant, she had cut back tremendously but she just couldn't fully quit and her baby is just as healthy and happy as a non smokers baby.
Avatar f tn ve only smoked a couple of cigarettes and you can reverse the effects if you quit. Good for you for being concerned about it! Be tough and stop smoking now!
Avatar n tn Hello there I have reading all of your comments and I am in the same boat I quit smoking two years ago with the help of Thrive Lozenges started on the 2mg and now on the 1mg still sucking the damn things. Yesterday I was so sick, feeling nauseated and dizzy all day blood pressure went up to 152/89, although I have GERD as well and am in Menopause so am not sure which to blame.
