My family doctor who I know for 25 years recommended fentanyl with morphine 15 as breakthrough pain relief. By June of 2012, I had NO IDEA of what this medication was doing to me. ve seen of fentanyl detox and my own year long, slow methadone recovery, I think fentanyl and methadone are only different in dosage. The full synthetic nature and side effects of both methadone and fentanyl make them very close tie for the worst detox ever. After that I went cold turkey to get off the patch because of the pancreatic problems my system was presenting. That is just me. The damaging effects of the Fentanyl patch may be something your doctor is concerned about. IF YOU DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THIS DOCTORS ADVISE, GET ANOTHER OPINION. Talk to a pain management specialist. You need to take the medication as prescribed and usually that is every 3 days before you change the patch.

t know much about fentanyl but my dr wanted to put on suboxone for pain management but i have leary of trying it. I just don't think it will work well enough. I am scared that if i go on it i'll wake up in the middle of the night ( this happens to me a lot) crying uncontrollably because the pain is so bad and I won't be able to do anything about it because i would be on suboxone and i couldn't take anything else. that just terrifies me.
Marijuana can cause panic attacks in some people. Mainly in people who have been smoking for a long time, however, I suffered panic attacks after only 4 months of smoking. Marijuana stimulates the pleasure cells in your brain. If you wan't a scientific answer do a web search. Personally, marijuana affects on me were : increased taste, increased hunger, increased sense of hearing, increased sexual pleasure, increased interest in simple or mundane activities, increased paranoia, and sedation.
t take me off either of those during my Fentanyl detox. I have been off of Fentanyl 7 days 14 1/2 hours! The wds are gone...I just have some issues with my blood pressure that occurred because I got cute and thought I would just take myself off the Clonazepam on my own and did not know you are NOT supposed to come off any benzo cold turkey without a drug taper. I started to work out, dropped all the weight gained from the Fentanyl and the other 8 meds I needed to take due to the side effects of the Fentanyl, and now am on two patches (50 and 12) and on a razors edge as pain goes. Recently had heaps of dental work done. Crowns replaced, amalamates removed etc and my THS went through the roof. The hospital over-seer will not approve my back surgery ( all cardio bloods etc are EXCELLENT) and everyone is amazed I am 65 years old. What is going on?
I spent almost 2 horrendous years in and out of hospital for cancer treatment, then treatment for the devastating effects of radiation therapy. If you thought chemo was bad, extended field radiotherapy and rod implants is about as bad as it gets. It simply frazzles and destroys everything including the good bits that then need removed because they all stick together and do not function.
Being that you've only been on them for a little over a month you shouldnt experience any serious withdrawal effects. Everyone is different in how they react when tapering any opiate but I can tell you from my experience w/d's are greatly influenced by our mental state. When I went into a detox naive of w/d's I didnt have as bad of an experience as when I had done tons of research and got myself all hyped up to the fact that I could have serious w/d's.

Suboxone is not the same type of opiate as Fentanyl & Dilaudid. Sub is only a partial agonist with Naloxone, an antagonist, thrown in. Fentanyl & Dilaudid are full agonists & are both powerful narcotics & highly addictive. Your brain is acclimated to opiates. I'm not sure if you had a previous dependency but I'm assuming that if you're on Bupe that you probably did. Either way, if you took Subs regularly, you were physically dependent on an opiate.
