Hello there I have reading all of your comments and I am in the same boat I quit smoking two years ago with the help of Thrive Lozenges started on the 2mg and now on the 1mg still sucking the damn things. Yesterday I was so sick, feeling nauseated and dizzy all day blood pressure went up to 152/89, although I have GERD as well and am in Menopause so am not sure which to blame.

I have been experiencing temporary vision loss in the eye, for periods of seconds to 10 minutes, in the past few days. Everything goes black or a smoke gray, I then experience a sharp pain in the eye that shoots right to the back of my head and gives me a general headache. Then as the vision starts to return everything is blurred and goes on and off like that for a while.
It sounds like you might have some hemosiderin staining--i.e., your skin has been stained by your blood. I had that problem following eye surgery. Marijuana can cause panic attacks in some people. Mainly in people who have been smoking for a long time, however, I suffered panic attacks after only 4 months of smoking. Marijuana stimulates the pleasure cells in your brain. If you wan't a scientific answer do a web search. Personally, marijuana affects on me were : increased taste, increased hunger, increased sense of hearing, increased sexual pleasure, increased interest in simple or mundane activities, increased paranoia, and sedation.
I'm 6 weeks and I've had to quit smoking as well. What works for me is out of sight (smell) out of mind! I've done research on it and they say when you're craving, it will last 5 mins. So during those 5mins go take a walk, eat a healthy snack (my choice of fat snack lol), etc. My SO smokes too but is trying to quit as well but he's not as successful. Hope this helps some. It is absolutely impossible to even suggest what is wrong with your brother on an internet site without an in-person exam, lab tests, complete history, ausculation of his lungs, and detailed history of medications. He needs to be seen at a facility with competent physicians. He would be admitted to any hospital in the United States upon such a presentation in the ER. I sympathize with you, but what he needs is competent in-person attention.
My daughter tried to quit smoking and drinking at the same time and ended up in the hospital with all kinds of heart problems.
Niacinamide is available in health food stores - but do ask your doctor what he/she thinks about it. It has been known to help people with heart trouble stop smoking without too many effects.
