put aside the amount of cigarretes you want to smoke a day.. for example if you smoke a pack a day, put away 15, and smoke only them throughout the day, make them last the whole day, in a week, make it 10 cigaretes a day, then 5, then see if you can go without them.
i could never quit, i only smoked less when i felt nauseated from smoking, had 2 healthy pregnancies and babies, and know of plenty of women who smoked and had healthy babies, don't stress yourself too much over it.
Not all babies have lasting effects from the mother smoking, but no matter if they have a permanent problem or not when smoking while pregnant it constricts your blood vessels and YOUR UMBILICAL cord not allowing the proper amount of oxygen and nutrients to your baby. I have a close friend who has been addicted to marijuana for a long time, she also smoked during her pregnancy and no they did not test her for it when she gave birth. I don't know much on the effects of marijuana use during pregnancy but I strongly suggest that you look into that for the benefit of the baby. I know that she breastfed for quite a while, continuing to pass the drug onto her child. Our sons are the same age and have been friends since infancy.

There are no definitive side effects from weed that we know of BUT I have a few close friends who have smoked their whole pregnancy and multiple pregnancies and their children have birth defects born early and low birth weight so I mean if you wanna chance it then I guess that's up to you but honestly I wouldn't....just because we don't know for sure what kind of effects it has in babies yet doesn't mean there isn't proof around us..

Miley, I am very proud of you for.cutting back. Smoking, for those of you who don't know, is actually harder to quit than heroin. Yes it can cause complications, but unfortunately, as with cancer, and most other diseases and health problems, they don't discriminate. You could go your whole pregnancy and do everything perfect and still lose your child. That being said, shame on those of you who were lecturing.
ive personally never heard of anyones baby dying from smoking a cigarette...i know women who have smoked and had perfectly healthy babies...plus this site is for encouragement...maybe you should kindly encourage them to quit instead of bashing them...every has an opinion and has free will to do as they please. I think it is more annoying than anything tho when people talk about oh can i eat a piece of chocolate or is gonna kill my baby? really?
The smoking is probably not going to affect you getting pregnant. But if you are trying to get pregnant then you need to stop smoking because it is horrible for a baby. You also didn't mention if you are using protection or not and that would have more to do if you get pregnant or not then smoking.
