Avatar m tn Mephedrone is an amphetamine-like drug, and like other stimulants, can lead to a variety of symptoms including dizzines, headaches, and in severe cases even seizures, stroke or bleeding in the brain, vasopasm (abnormal constriction of the blood vessels in the brain) and vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessels in the brain). The majority of these adverse effects occur at higher doses and with sustained use, but can occur even with small doses.
Avatar n tn You may have developed the thyroid problem irregardless of methadone treatment, but maybe not. I just found a research study from 1988 that concludes that methadone actually can cause you to make too much T4 or T3. Therefore, the blood tests for hypothyroid are skewed as a result. You're T4 and T3 levels can actually be higher as a result of taking methadone. My problem was that my thyroid medication was causing me to ache, or so I thought.
Avatar f tn i told my husband i honestly rather be dealing with the fatigue and blahness of the methadone WDs than take any more of that Sub. it did help me get through when i felt like i was going to die, but at this point i honestly think i would rather suffer through it than feel that Suboxone headache and mood swing. also, i thought it would help me sleep better but it did not, and today although i am not feeling sick my mood is worse than before i took the Sub. so that is my verdict on the Sub.
Avatar n tn When methadone is taken under medical supervision, long-term maintenance causes no adverse effects to the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, bones, blood, brain, or other vital body organs. Methadone produces no serious side effects, although some patients experience minor symptoms such as constipation, water retention, drowsiness, skin rash, excessive sweating, and changes in libido. Once methadone dosage is adjusted and stabilized or tolerance increases, these symptoms usually subside.

Avatar m tn Some of you will remember me, I was on methadone for a long time and came off in the middle of March with no problems. I have not had any cravings to go back on methadone but I have had HUGE problems since coming off and as I sit here today I am still very sick. You see while I was on methadone I was on a few other meds, oxycodone for 3 years but only at 20mgs/day and never ever raised that dose. So then I decided I wanted off the oxycodone and it was BRUTAL!
662972 tn?1270166301 i went off of them in july and the pain got worse and the worse the pain got the worse the cravings got. so my doctor put me on methadone at a low dose to see if it would help with the pain. the good thing is it doesn't make me high or euphoric like lortab did and it has totally stopped my cravings. i don't know how long i will stay on it, i'm taking it one day at a time. i have heard that it is hard to get off of but can be better if you wean your self off at a slow pace.
415399 tn?1209504302 It too binds to the receptors, however, without a perfect fit. As a result the Buprenorphine tends to occupy the receptors without all of the opioid effects. The receptor is tricked into thinking it has been satisfied with opioids without producing the feeling of euphoria, and without causing respiratory depression. This, in turn, prevents that receptor from joining with full opioids; therefore if the patient uses heroin or painkillers, they will not be able to experience any additional effect.

Avatar n tn Does the brain treat methadone the same as heroin? I am on mmt day 2 and having second thoughts.. I don't really want to become dependent on yet another drug..Ready for nightmare to be over. I was thinking of now leaving the clinic on day 4 in hopes the heroin would be out of system. I'm soooo sick of being sick.
Avatar m tn s are the worst i have ever imagined, i had to CT from 19mgs of xanax daily for over a year and 9mths of 100mgs of methadone cuz of two tickets that werent paid so i sat in milwaukee county jail for 4 days total and the only thing they offered me even thought they talked to both my therapist and my methadone doc is two tylenol twice aday..i was the most horrifying site you would ever see..
Avatar m tn Since you are putting these chemicals into your brain thru the methadone, your brain stops producing these chemicals on their own. When you stop taking the dones, your brain is left with NO production of these chemicals - it takes time for the brain to reach a 'normal' functioning point, it can actually take up to 2 years. Essentially, you will have a chemical imbalance, which can cause physical and psychological issues to take place.
Avatar m tn i raised my hand to him on the mix of the added CNS effects to this respiratory deppreshion to the methadone... he stated that its ok...im like they just dont change the meaning of a c,.n.s,. med thats added to the mix of xanax and methadone...so what do u do..i went to cvs to get it filled knowing im right on this...they told me the same thing..that it wont interfere with my mix......the thing is they dont know it wont.....why do pdocs and poharimistact so ignorant for..
1037594 tn?1258562179 Have any of you read the information regarding our life clock being sped up by the Hippocampus of the brain and how the Hippocampus becomes an assasign of sorts causing heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and others that I cannot recall at this time. Reading several articles that basically stated the same thing made me think about those poor children that age prematurely and if there was some sort of connection between the two on basic level.
Avatar n tn i am on 95mg of methadone and am now perscribed soma 350mg what are the side effects
Avatar m tn Unresolved within a limited window, such swelling can lead to the death of brain cells and parts of the brain such as the pituitary and hypothalamus. The time to death of the cells is referred to as the warm ischemic time. There is no evidence whatsoever that a concussion will make anyone smarter. There may or may not be a degradtion in your cognition, memory and reasoning. The human brain is very resilient.
Avatar f tn Please fill me in on all the withdrawal symptoms of methadone. I'm only on 40 mgs a day but after being off it for only two days, I'm so sick and depressed!!! Is depression normal? I mean, I cannot stop crying!!
603838 tn?1238534975 Hi all. One of my best friends has been taking heavy painkillers to manage pain due to disk surgery and partial replacement. They have been switching between things as heavy as morphine and methadone. They found her thanksgiving day not breathing with foam coming out of her mouth and nose. She was in respiratory arrest and flown to a better hospital in the neighboring state.
1477380 tn?1289233354 you best bet now is to do a fast taper off the sub whatever you do dont go to methadone...the withdrawals from methadone are the worst of all the narcotics if your on sub stay on it if you need to use it to stay clean in that case plug into N/A or A/A or seek consoling to build up your foundation so when you do go off the sub your standing on your own 2 feet....
Avatar n tn Long term use of any chemical that effects brain transmitters surely could cause damage. Where that line is is something of an unknown. We all have different makeups in the way our bodies process toxins. Sopping is a big start though. It halts whatever process is going on. How much a person's system can repair such things is a very hard question to answer though..Not using vs using is always the best first approach though.
