Avatar n tn Epinephrine Pregnancy Warnings Epinephrine has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies have revealed evidence of teratogenicity when epinephrine was given in doses approximately 25 times the usual recommended human dose (on a per kg basis). There are no reports of teratogenicity in humans. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.
Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
Avatar f tn s the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
Avatar n tn Toprol (beta blockers) Inhibit healthy levels of the catecholamine hormones (epinephrine and nor-epinephrine) Adrenalin. Thus they inhibit good estrogen, allowing the bad estrogen to possibly promote cancer. The following is from www.vrp.com read the whole artical under (DIM). If you have a-fib and on a beta blocker I would hesitate to supplement with (dim). Any increase in Adrenalin could cause a-fib.
Avatar f tn It is much, much weaker than epineprhine and you would get a much, much lower dose of it than dental injection with epinephrine. Even so, I would just play it safe for regular exams and just get tropicamide which should not affect blood pressure or pulse.
Avatar f tn m also quitting smoking.) He said that one of the side effects could be suicidal thoughts. I have never had these before in my life. I am scared to death that this medication is going to make me think about things like that. Does this happen to a lot of people? And, does it happen with people who don't usually have these types of thoughts?
1817071 tn?1366228243 I have had a ton of dental work done and I remind my dentist every time no epinephrine. Also something to be aware of...if you have a tooth crowned when they are doing the crown prep they use a string coated in epinephrine to retract your gum prior to making the impressions. It is equivalent to about 3 shots with epi. They have string that does not have the epinephrine so be sure to remember to ask if you are having a tooth crowned.
Avatar f tn Epinephrine is the a hormone and neurotransmiter. It is produced by the adrenal gland an is a "fight-or-flight catecholamine." So is norepinephrine. In biochemistry, the prefix "nor" means that norepinephrine is an analog of epinephrine. They function quite differently in the body. epinephrine is most commonly thought of in terms of t effect on the sympathetic nervous system - increasing heart rate, increasing blood pressure, hyper alertness, etc.
Avatar f tn There are local anesthetic formulations available without epinephrine, they just last for shorter periods of time and may require higher doses for efficacy. My experience has been that this means needing to get more injections during dental work than would have been necessary with a "normal" local anesthetic that has epinephrine.
Avatar n tn I do have partial block of the right leg of the His cluster, but this supposedly occurs in 20% of people and is not considered an illness, the only contradiction being I could never be a professional athlete. I had never before encountered any heart-related issues. So I would be delighted to be able to write about post-operative pain or even have some to some degree, but I don't!!! Hope this makes you feel better about getting through your wife's post-operative pain.
1047019 tn?1256719961 ve also recently developed a bad allergy to wheat and gluten. Does novacaine contain either? I am worried about some kind of allergic syndrome developing.
Avatar f tn Epinephrine is known to act on the uterus through beta 2 receptors and can cause relaxation of the uterus. At term, it can prevent the contraction and delay the labor. I suggest you to consult gynecologist for further information. Take care and regards.
20922415 tn?1661860103 If pregnancy occurs, progesterone is produced in the placenta, and levels remain elevated throughout the pregnancy. The combination of high estrogen and progesterone levels suppresses further ovulation during pregnancy. Progesterone also encourages the growth of milk-producing glands in the breast during pregnancy. High progesterone levels are believed to be partly responsible for symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as breast tenderness, feeling bloated, and mood swings.
Avatar n tn The amount is so small that I have never heard of it causing tachycardia, although this is theoretically possible. Lidocaine and epinephrine is used in the suturing of millions of wounds every year with no cardiac events. My guess is that that is a coincidence here. The temporary fast heart rate in the absence of chest pain, pressure or other symptoms should have no long-lasting effects whatsoever. An EKG will verify that because tissue death is reflected in an abnormal ST segment.
Avatar m tn The withdrawl symptoms seem to be an everyday issue of muscle cramps, nervousness, stomach pains. I did not notice any pains or lack of energy prior to 02 2012. I had been in and out of the doctors office 02----11-2012 for these symptoms, I had blood work done, had to get on blood pressure medicine.
Avatar m tn Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. I think everyone is hitting on key points with Primatene. Epinephrine is an inhaled adrenaline. You don't get the same adrenaline rush as if you injected it as not a lot of it gets into your blood stream. It is incredibly effective at opening your lungs up, though. Anyway, I've been on QVAR as a maintenance and Proventil as a rescue since I made the initial post and I don't feel the need for Primatene anymore.
Avatar f tn It makes a lot of sense to question whether to wait until he's done the test before taking a medication that blocks the action of epinephrine (metanephrine is the inactive metabolite of epinephrine, I believe what's left after the epinephrine is spent, and normetanephrine, the inactive metabolite of norepinephrine, which they also measure).
Avatar n tn both WITHOUT EPINEPHRINE,YES,WITHOUT EPINEPHRINE and I made sure of that before the skin test. They had to discontinue the Lidocaine because of heart side effects. But they finished with the other one and they thought that everything was fine and sent me home..The next day,BOOM! they hit with a vengence..P.V.C.S over and over again lasting for 3 weeks or so until they finally tapered off.
Avatar f tn Relaxes the bladder Dilates pupils Increases perspiration Increases mental activity Stress constricts most blood vessels but dilates those in heart/leg/arm muscles and over time can cause cardiovascular problems The main sympathetic neurotransmitter is called noradrenaline which is released a the nerve endings. Avatar f tn It is recommended going to the dentist every 4 months during pregnancy because of problems with mouth issues.
Avatar f tn I recently went through a similar experience with lidocaine. I had a ruptured cyst in my breast and as it had broken through one of my milk ducts it had developed an abscess. The doctor wouldn't let me leave without having a butt shot of antibiotics - she wanted fast acting because I had a high fever and my breast was the size of Mount St. Helens. When the nurse came in to inject me she made the mistake of telling me that it was antibiotic PLUS lidocaine.
Avatar f tn t have any epinephrine in it. Epinephrine can cause your heart rate to increase. And of course nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is definitely off limits.
Avatar f tn The dentist prescribed Halcyon (which I took 1 hour before the appointment) saying it will relax me and make numbing easier and the non-epinephrine local anesthetic last longer. He gave me 2 shots of local on each side. Afterwards, I felt slight pain at one of the injection places, no pain anywhere else. The next day, my face was swollen, and I still had just the slight pain from one of the injections. The swelling was just of the skin of my face, not inside my mouth, not on my lips.
Avatar f tn Perhaps you have a tachycardia issue (rapid heartbeat) that is causing the sweating and and some of the shortness of breath. At any rate, it might be worth checking out. As you probably know, extra pounds can be hard on the heart, can be a risk factor for diabetes, etc.. I know it can be harder with menopause to lose the pounds.
4703993 tn?1379768388 Hi everyone.. I was diagnosed with POTS in January of 2013 and a variety of other illnesses (read my profile). I know passing out after standing and sitting too long is common, but in the last 2 months I have been laying down with no symptoms then after about 15-20 minutes I feel the horrible "POTS" passing out feeling and a few times I have actually passed out..this is very odd for me..
Avatar m tn Doctors say it is not because of the spray because so little is absorbed into the system through the nose, but I have read online that Beconase is absorbed more than other nasal sprays, (up to 44% of each dose is swallowed). I have seen numerous people reporting palpitations and other systemic effects across the internet after using Beconase and other brands (Nasonex, Flonase etc) of steroid nasal sprays. Has anyone had a similar experience?
