Avatar m tn I've read many studies on the research of marijuana on the lungs, brain, heart, etc. From my findings, I have found that moderate smoking poses little risk to the body. While I've ready pretty consistent reports on marijuana effects on the heart and brain, I read different articles about marijuana on the lungs everyday.

The majority of these adverse effects occur at higher doses and with sustained use, but can occur even with small doses.

Avatar m tn I appreciate your reply. Most of the chronic side effects of these drugs come from prolonged use, which is the case with most patients, I guess. I can, at least, confirm that I got shaky hands and legs after using these antidepressants for 4 years. The best option is as you said, never to rush to these drugs, instead, identify the cause of the depression and anxiety and try to remedy it through talk therapy, or other non-drug methods.
Avatar f tn Since you have prominent lesions on right corono radiate, it can affect the processing of signals between brain and rest of the body. This can also cause many of your symptoms. Other than this benign intracranial hypertension is another possibility. A spinal tap should be done to diagnose this and to rule out MS. Hyperthyroidism and autoimmune disorders too should be looked into.
Avatar f tn i just wonder about if you could have a seizure and it not affect the brain....or if im way offf on all this..
Avatar f tn My doc prescribed 50mg, but after the first dose I had terrible side effects. She then told me to take half the pill. I took the 25mg for a few months, then increased to 50mg for a short time before tapering off. I was only on Sertraline for about 7 months, and then my life was back to normal! Now, after dealing with stress and another stomach virus(which I had 3 months ago), I'm experiencing the same symptoms again. My fatigue is milder this time around, but brain fog is still pretty bad.
Avatar m tn other times surgery is required or a stent in placed in the brain to drain the fluid. Much depends on the reason and your general medical condition. More information would be of help. I wish you the very best and hope you will share more information.
Avatar m tn ve paid their fines and settled the lawsuits so that part has passed, but this drug has profound effects on the functioning of brain neurotransmitters and so using it for sleep can be a really really bad idea. Ideally, sleep problems should be solved by fixing the sleep problem, not medicating it for long periods of time because that can cause a chronic problem called rebound insomnia. Now, this isn't to say this med isn't just the ticket for some people.
Avatar f tn All of the effects of opiates are reversible-- save the damage to veins during chronic IV use, or the brain damage from a hypoxic arrest during overdose.
Avatar f tn class drug whose BETOS is chemo. Adding in two more drugs puts quite a toll on the body and the brain. Anyway you could take 6 credits, make it a little easier for yourself ?
Avatar m tn I have a suspicion that this is due to the side effect of one or more of the above drugs. Is it true? Is it possible? What is the best course of remedy I should pursue?
7058746 tn?1393435420 I know sstress is not good for the baby. But what exactly does it do? I've heard the baby doesn't get the oxygen it needs and heard the baby won't be calm when it's born. Is that true or completely false?
Avatar m tn 2) Extensive frontal and periatrial white matter signal changes are nonspecific but are thought to most likely represent areas of chronic small vessel ischemia. If the patient clinically exhibits symptoms of another white matter disease process such as multiple sclerosis, the patient could return for contrast enhanced images to evaluate for acute or active disease" Basically what I'm looking for is the bottom line, what's wrong? What kind of treatments are involved?
Avatar m tn The cortex outline appears to be well preserved. Given the fact that the growth is stable, I do not suspect it is pressing on the brain. But if it is, it will mostly be the orbitofrontal part of the prefrontal. There is some evidence which suggests the prefrontal cortex (dorsolateral prefrontal cortex) may be involved in the "increased alertness" of depersonalization.
1037594 tn?1258562179 Have any of you read the information regarding our life clock being sped up by the Hippocampus of the brain and how the Hippocampus becomes an assasign of sorts causing heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and others that I cannot recall at this time. Reading several articles that basically stated the same thing made me think about those poor children that age prematurely and if there was some sort of connection between the two on basic level.
Avatar n tn So again in my opinion the next question is do you put her through withdrawal to determine her pain level and the effect if any the fentanyl may be having on her memory? You may have hit on the best solution by simply having the Lortabs discontinued, as long as she is still able to maintain the same comfort level. Another consideration would be to trial reduction in the fentanyl dose to determine if her pain would still be controlled and to evaluate any difference in her memory status.
Avatar m tn Unresolved within a limited window, such swelling can lead to the death of brain cells and parts of the brain such as the pituitary and hypothalamus. The time to death of the cells is referred to as the warm ischemic time. There is no evidence whatsoever that a concussion will make anyone smarter. There may or may not be a degradtion in your cognition, memory and reasoning. The human brain is very resilient.
