eczema

Avatar f tn Eczema is a skin disease that causes itchy, red, dry flaky skin. There is no cure or reasonable treatment. The treatment is typically steroids but there are side effects. You should cut down on the amount of baths you get. Don't use hot water. Use a oil based soap like oilatum or Dove all natural. Use natural laundry detergents based on enzymes. Don't use bleach or dryer pads. Use a good moisturizer just after shower. You need to moisturize at least twice a day.
Avatar f tn is there any product or treatment that you can recommend to reduce or lighten the "raccoon" appearance or "dark circles" around your eyes that African Americans and people of darker skin often get as they age? My are horrible! No amount of sleep or concealer seem to help. In the last two years it has gotten noticeably worse. Avatar n tn I've read that eczema is some kind of disruption in the immune system and there are many treatments that reduce the immune system to get rid of the eczema. Does that mean that taking echinecha and other tablets that strengthen the immune system is bad for eczema?
Avatar f tn Hello, Eczema is a sort of dermatitis skin which may flare up in case of an allergy and warts are very common to recur in case of moisture. In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups.

Avatar n tn I have had eczema on one foot for almost 20 years now. I am 38. Sometimes it does not flare up for a week or two, but it always comes back. I have been to several dermatologists, tried various prescriptions, over the counter meds and a series of cortisone shots (they helped for about 18 months, but the side effects were intolerable). It seems to be worse in the summer. The itching keeps me up many nights. I only wear flip flops, year round. I can not wear socks or closed shoes.

If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.

Avatar m tn Athlete’s foot-like dermatitis flare-up between toe webbings on right foot after 2 months washing vegetables on farm wearing absorbent shoes/socks. After scratching with left foot, dermatitis spreads to both feet. Symptoms moderate to severe. Vigorously rub pinky-toe webbing with fatty edge of right hand with saw-like motion. I believe this is when the infection set in to hand. Soaked feet in apple cider vinegar once. All foot symptoms subsided.

Avatar m tn Hello, Eczema is characterised by red, dry patches which are itchy. If the rash is non itchy then it can be pityriasis alba. Pityriasis alba is a common skin condition mostly occurring in children and usually seen as dry, fine-scaled, pale patches on the face. No treatment is required and the patches in time will settle in due course of time. The redness, scale and itch if present may be managed with simple emollients and sometimes hydrocortisone, a weak steroid, is also used.
