eczema

Avatar n tn I was told not to use my prescription creams on my eczema. I use oatmeal soaks to ease the itching.
Avatar f tn My son had it at well.
Avatar n tn In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema — regardless of type — involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. I suggest you to apply some moisturizers and apply topical steroids only after consulting a dermatologist.
Avatar n tn If you have insurance or other means, see a dermatologist to confirm the skin condition and for prescription-strength corticosteroid creams or ointments. The dermatologist may even recommend a special light therapy for your skin. If the inflammation isn't so bad, look for moisturizers or creams with hydrocortisone. The exfoliation could be causing additional inflammation, so please don't overdo it. Follow up with a cold water rinse to reduce redness and inflammation.
Avatar f tn t wash your hands anymore than necessary and use very mild soaps. Apply constantly plenty of good moisturizing creams and alternate with steroid creams. Use a humidifier in the rooms to avoid dryness. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn For the treatment of dermatitis: are EpiCeram or MimyX (skin barrier creams) as effective as Elidel (skin-selective inflammatory cytokine inhibitor)? I have dermatitis on an area of my body where the skin is already naturally thin(genitals) and am not interested in using steroid creams, so my doctor prescribed elidel. After researching it and finding out that it has a black box warning, I also asked for a prescription for EpiCeram which I am currently using and have used for almost a month now.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with eczema as a teenager. I am in my 40s now. Until a couple of years ago, I was always able to handle the eczema instantly with a steroid-based cream. Lately, the creams don't seem as effective. I went to a dermatologist, who gave me stronger steroid-based creams. They work, but only with dedicated use. I also have redness on my scrotum. The dermatologist said this was also eczema. The creams eventually work there, but it's quite a struggle.

Avatar m tn Hello, Desonide is a low potent steroid cream and is good for eczema. However it is not advisable to use too much of steroid creams as it has plenty of side effects like skin atrophy, skin thinning, telangiectasia, steroid induced rosacea or redness. Use it only as per the prescription and have regular follow ups with your child’s doctor. Also the best treatment of eczema is use of moisturizers which should be applied in a thin layer on the eczematous patch.
Avatar f tn I got the strongest prescription creams that i could, and my doctor told me as long as its just used on the hands the baby should be fine. I tried all different kinds of natural creams but it only got worse. So i used the prescription cream until my hands were a bit better and then went over to using a natural cream that is similar to vaseline. At the end of my pregnancy, my hands were pretty much clean. But as soon as my girl was born, it started again.
Avatar f tn which is the typical ending for a steroid. Steroids creams are pretty standard treatment for eczema. I don't remember how many were tried on my daughter before we settled on her current treatment. Yours sounds more like an antibiotic cream. hmmm.... Well, if it works that is all that matters. Thanks for posting back. God bless.
Avatar f tn I have about 4 red crusty bumps on my legs (in random areas) and 2 big patches around both my elbows. It was supe itchy and so i went to the doctor for prescription and was told it was eczema. I was given an anti imflammatory cream, aqueous cream and emolin ointment BP. Skin is still very itchy and elbow has developed many small bumps of skin colour (which turns red when scratching and the prescription given is seemingly making it worse? Am I supposed to continue with the creams?
Avatar f tn A friend of mine has had good results with Betnovate and has suggested I ask my doctor for a prescription to help my 15 year old daughter who has small isolated areas of eczema on her ear lobes and one patch on the back of her neck. I want to avoid having to obtain prescriptions if I can (I have to wait ages for an appointment and the clinic is always so busy I end up waiting hours for a 5 minute timeslot).
1337810 tn?1333807530 If you feel that the eczema maybe allergy related, then suggest going to an Allergist for him to get tested so you know for sure. If he is allergic to a food type, then you would know what foods to feed him or not.
Avatar f tn ve been keeping it at bay with a couple of different prescription creams that I had laying around; clobetasol propionate .05% and triamcino/eucerin. These helped the rash to almost disappear, but just when I'd thought it was getting better and could discontinue use, it would flare back up and I would continue use of the creams. I recently ran out both creams and decided change my tactic. I bought some over the counter lotrimin for jock itch.
Avatar f tn I am an 18 year old male and used to suffer from eczema as a child, but it stopped as I got older. My skin reacts to just about everything at the moment, from cosmetics to petroleum jelly. When I apply certain products to said areas they will cause me to break out in welt, weeping hives and rashes, similar to an allergic reaction; but only in the areas I stated above.
Avatar n tn My hands have eczema, occassionally I have what can only be described as an attack. They itch terribly, the skin between my fingers becomes very red, I scratch and rub my hands together like crazy, worsening the condition. My hands become swollen, then the skin hardens and the whole process begings over again, lasting two to three weeks between attacks. What can I do when an attack occurs?
Avatar f tn So far all that calms it is steroidal creams, I have tried prescription creams I use for my eczema, sudocrem, coconut oil, oatmeal, milk, cold compress etc but nothing helps. I just want to know what is causing it. Please help!

Avatar f tn What is the best treatment for vaginal Eczema. I have this for years now, it comes and goes. I use Calendula gel when I have symptoms, it seems to help but not completely. Is there something that I can use that is more effective. It is very uncomfortable. Burning sensation, etc. I had a biopsy done a few years ago and results came back (SPONGIOTIC DERMATITIS) which I been told is like ECZEMA. Can you please help or have any comments regarding this condition.
Avatar m tn I have never gone through any medical prescription and allergy test or anything. Doctors are just keep suggesting different creams to apply but there is no improvement. I want to find out if this is an allergy or not, and if so rule out whatever it is so I never need to go through it again. It is an incredibly painful thing which i have been suffering since many many years. Is there anyone can suggest or help. Anything would be very appreciated. Million of thanks in advance!!
