Avatar m tn In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.

Avatar m tn Hello, Eczema is characterised by red, dry patches which are itchy. If the rash is non itchy then it can be pityriasis alba. Pityriasis alba is a common skin condition mostly occurring in children and usually seen as dry, fine-scaled, pale patches on the face. No treatment is required and the patches in time will settle in due course of time. The redness, scale and itch if present may be managed with simple emollients and sometimes hydrocortisone, a weak steroid, is also used.

Avatar f tn What is the best treatment for vaginal Eczema. I have this for years now, it comes and goes. I use Calendula gel when I have symptoms, it seems to help but not completely. Is there something that I can use that is more effective. It is very uncomfortable. Burning sensation, etc. I had a biopsy done a few years ago and results came back (SPONGIOTIC DERMATITIS) which I been told is like ECZEMA. Can you please help or have any comments regarding this condition.

749318 tn?1233191768 Hello, I went in to see the Dr. for an allergic reaction on my face. I heard him tell the nurse to give me 40 mg solumedrol. When I read his notes for my treatment that day she had actually given me 125mg through injection. I am pretty angry and frustrated about this especially when I specifically said to him "I have severe atopic dermititis (eczema) and recurring skin infections and wei gh 98 lbs please give me as little meds as possible.
1456473 tn?1365827455 Don't scratch it!! I've had severe eczema for over ten years and pregnancy can exacerbate it, and unfortunately there's not much you can take for it. You can take benadryl, and I take a warm bath and use aveeno calming lotion nightly. My legs used to be nothing but open sores and scabs because I scratched it uncontrollably, but the less I scratch the more it seems to go away.
Avatar m tn I am requesting this post be moved to the dermatology forum but I do have an answer for you. My husband has these same spots, and they do itch in winter and sometimes summer also. The spots are called Tinea versicolor. Tinea versicolor in aggravated in humid locations, most often winter because we wear warmer clothes that hold in moisture. In summer, because it is hot and humid outside, which promotes the increase of itching. The Tenia is a fungus, which is not contagious.
