eczema

Avatar n tn My eczema is stubborn - it is constantly reappearing, causing me to use the Elocon far too often than I should be, but because it is so effective, I use it over and over. Is there something I can buy over the counter that actually works? My eczema is the kind that cracks, blisters, weeps, etc...it is not just red and irritated skin! Please help! There must be something out there that I can use with no long term negative effects!!!
Avatar f tn My son had it at well.
765828 tn?1306263868 , there could be a serious reason why this is happening, i dont mean to scare you, it could be that you are constipated and pushing to much, but if the bowl is filled up, i would call your doctor right away, and this way, they can rule out different causes and hopefully get to the problem, i wouldnt take anything over the counter until i was seen by a doctor, good luck, let us know how you make out.
Avatar n tn It burns and itches and I have had it for two weeks. I have tried over the counter creams and corn starch. The area is raw in some places. I have not had intercourse in over a year. The only thing that I found at home to work was and old perscription for triamcinolone acetonide cream.
Avatar f tn No about of lotion has helped. Before I go to see a dematologist is there anything over the counter to dry first?
82861 tn?1333453911 I know these products have been mentioned here in the past, but I can't remember the names! My sister's dog freaks out every time she gets inside the vet clinic. Going there and getting in the door is no problem, but once she's inside she's a shaking, crying mess. Can someone remind me what calming meds are available in pet stores? I'm getting way too old...
Avatar n tn I am pregnant, and talked to my OB/GYN and she thought it might be just a skin allergy, so I started applying a corticoid cream (over the counter). I used it for a week, and it felt fine at the beginning but then it came back. It is really itchy and red, and it has expanded all over the inner side of the finger. It also looks cracked and the skin is peeling off. I also found a red, circular, itchy spot next to my thumb, on the same hand. I thought it was a fungus and asked my doctor again.
Avatar m tn Hello, In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. Along with the medicines( steroids and antihistaminics) you need to apply plenty of emollients or mositurisers.
Avatar m tn Apply warm compresses and keep the area clean. Drainage is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head. Give some over the counter pain reliever and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription. If there are recurrent boils, then get his blood sugar levels estimated. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn For the jock itch I have tried several different over the counter topical creams, none of them worked well. Last week I tried hydrocortizone, thinking it might not be fungal, this made it much worse. I finally saw my doctor last week who told me to try Lamisil. In the three days I've been on Lamisil, it has only been worse. I barely got any sleep last night because I kept waking up in pain. I've noticed there are white, scaly lesions in the affected area.
Avatar f tn I had something very similar about a year and a half ago, including the peeling eczema under my eyes. The eye doc felt it was allergies that turned into a lengthy infection. I got antibiotic steroid eye drops and used them for 10 days. I also was prescribed Pataday once a day before bed, and I use over the counter Alaway once or twice during the day, too. The eczema went away, but bags didn't completely go away but they improved.
Avatar m tn My son had eczema as a baby too, I found the cream to help him. I have, over the years moved to a much stronger cream. A few drops of olive oil in the bath is fantastic. Sounds horrible but often it's trial and error. Check your detergents and cleaning products as they can also lead to break outs. Over the Years I have worked out what flares mine up and what is ok to use.
Avatar f tn Thanks! I have used one of those barrier protection items before. Can't think of the name of it. I think it was an over-the-counter eczema cream. That sort of thing helps big time. My particular type of eczema is most likely from frequent hand washing. The nurse practitioner that originally diagnosed it and prescribed for it said she gets it, too. Of course, health care folks probably wash at least as often as I do.
Avatar f tn 1% hydrocorstisone, should not be a prescription it is an over the counter drug, very cheap to buy at your local store, target, walgreens etc. He shouldve prescribed something stronger, like 5% hydrocortisone, or something more powerful like clobestol propianate, or triamaclone acetonide,(these have side effects) It appears your eczema has returned due to an allergen, temperature or humdity. 1% hydrocortisone is a very weak steroid cream, only useful agaisnt minor rashes. you need strong stuff.
Avatar n tn This depends on the chemical properties of the substance, the length and frequency of the exposure and the amount and concentration of the substance coming in contact with the skin. Pls do not apply that particular cream for some days and see if your symptoms improve or not. Corticosteroids(5% corticosteroid creams are available over the counter) in the form of creams(dermacort) and ointments can be applied to the affected area to reduce the inflammation.
Avatar f tn Any good treatment for eczema? 20wks today. Really suffering a lot. Tried Alpha Keri and QV intensive care but its not working. Help please....
983600 tn?1248817980 You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC(over the counter) oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin.
Avatar m tn You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
258127 tn?1223125240 ) My doctor told me to put cortizone on it in absence of access to steroid cream, but cortizone is having the same effect as water and making it hurt and get worse. Is there some other over the counter treatment I should try? Thanks!
Avatar m tn throwing a CREAM OR LOTION on your body probably will do NOt good and other the counter products are not very effective for a systematic fungal infection. You also may have been infected with a PARASITE---I wouuld venture on this---you work withj Raw pORK..various parasites are there. Dont rely on simple "eczema" ALL dermatologists use that when they see a "rash".. It is the first thing they say.....and is usually NOT what you have.

5591135 tn?1380168056 What are some herbs/supplements that are safe to give cats that are over the counter to help with bladder infections/UTI's? We just cleaned the litter boxes and someone is peeing massive amounts of blood. I know its not Milo-he uses the upstairs box. We 5 other cats to rule out. Sigh....None are acting weird.
