648439 tn?1225058862 I treated with 1200 Riba daily and 180 mg interferon weekly with Pegasus. I was cured with this short treatment. I live in NZ and the doctors here allow patients to stop if they fulfill the strictest criteria for stopping early. It worked for me, so good luck to those of you who are considering the same option.

Avatar f tn My granddaughter (10) has just been diagnosed with SVT. (No treatment as yet). She was due to fly to the UK from NZ for Xmas to stay with her Dad. Her Mum NZ resident now says she can't fly. Is SVT a bar to flying in children? Other than these two episodes she is well and no other known underlying medical conditions. She would be flying with me and I am a registered nurse.
648439 tn?1225058862 I was shocked but I thought that perhaps in NZ is is not offered in treatment probably because of cost. I am talking govt funded treatment, not private. Does any NZ-er know anything about this - anyone being treated with Procrit or similar here.
Avatar m tn Itch, pleasure, infection eczema cycle as it is known helps in spread of eczema(dermatitis). For example an infection primarily by a pathogenic bacteria spreads via the itch pleasure factor as an auto-infection. Antibiotics break the infection part, antihistamines the itch and topical steroids the pleasure itch cycle. Do consult doc.
Avatar f tn Just thought I would let you all know for future reference if there are any sufferers in NZ, that I saw Dr Andrew Law yesterday, and found him to be excellent in every way. He has a good understanding of Chiari, Syrinx, Spina Bifida, amongst other things and was very helpful to me. He's very experienced (I did some homework!) and a really down to earth guy who takes a patient seriously.
Avatar m tn In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.

Avatar n tn Now for the important question - where will you be going? Good to have some trips to look forward to. Avatar m tn Hello, Eczema is characterised by red, dry patches which are itchy. If the rash is non itchy then it can be pityriasis alba. Pityriasis alba is a common skin condition mostly occurring in children and usually seen as dry, fine-scaled, pale patches on the face. No treatment is required and the patches in time will settle in due course of time. The redness, scale and itch if present may be managed with simple emollients and sometimes hydrocortisone, a weak steroid, is also used.
