Avatar n tn so I brought her 2 different dermatologists, they both prescribed creams but none worked, they only made it worse! the skin around the eyes are now whiter than the rest of the face that I think is the result of the cream. It's still itchy, and I've been applying Vaseline to those areas but the problem doesn't go away. Any suggestions are welcome. Please and thank you.

This is what I did. Since my head get dandruff and was itchy just the same like my face almost I used Selsun Blue shampoo and washed my hair with it, I used to suds part of it on my face, which was probably kind of harsh, but it seemed to help the itchiness. After that I dried my face off and put Clotrimazole cream on it.
Avatar n tn about 3-4 months ago, my doctor prescribed anti-biotics and steroids pills for my eczema. it was stated on the anti-biotic pacakage that i have to complete the course of medicine. A week of taking these medicine had made my eczema wounds heal. Anyway, i continued to take the anti-biotic pills as instructed, but i stopped my steroids intake. recently, my eczema is growing again. and i am wondering if it is safe for me to take the steroids that was left over from the last medication?
Avatar f tn I had an appointment with a Dermatologist today for my yearly skin cancer scan so I asked him for suggestions of what to use on the face and around the eyes and he suggested over the counter Aquaphor which is a Eucerin product. He said it's excellent for specific areas on the face and round the eyes because it's more of an ointment rather than a lotion or cream. So, if anyone else is having this side effect from treatment...try Aquaphor for around the eyes and facial areas.
Avatar n tn Hello, In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema — regardless of type — involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. Doing so tends to increase effectiveness and reduce side effects from medications.
Avatar f tn Hello, In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes. This is probably the reason that the calendula oil is not working now. Topical (applied to the skin) medication like mild steroids(hydrocortisone)to higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide) is frequently prescribed.
Avatar m tn Also the best treatment of eczema is use of moisturizers which should be applied in a thin layer on the eczematous patch. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Treatment includes avoidance of the allergen, oral antihistaminics; topical application of corticosteroids. You may try application of calamine on the affected site. It may work by soothing the skin.
Avatar m tn There is a sharp line on both cheeks demarcating the normal area from the affected area. I wash with cetaphil face wash and afterwards the areas are extremely dry and flaky. I'm thinking its either eczema or seborrheic dermatitis? Any advice would help! I have seen my GP and he advised me to stop using anything for a week and to come back and see him. He hasn't made a diagnosis yet.
Avatar n tn Please help me. I have always had sensitive skin, but for the past five years my face have been getting dry patches all over. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. My sincere advice is to follow up the treatment that you have been prescribed by your dermatologists. Also keep your skin well moisturized as dryness of skin aggravates the condition.

Avatar f tn Hello, First of all was the diagnosis of eczema confirmed for these dry red patches on the nose? This is because eczema often presents with itchy, red, dry and flaky skin. If the rash is non itchy then dry skin or seborrheic dermatitis of the face are important differentials to be ruled out. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face.

Avatar m tn The type of medication prescribed will depend on many factors, including the type of eczema, past treatment, and the patient’s preference. Topical (applied to the skin) medication like mild steroids(hydrocortisone)to higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide) is frequently prescribed. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.
Avatar n tn Stress could indeed bring this on or exacerbate the situation. Their is no cure and no reasonable treatment. Steroids are the typical treatment but most can't be used on the face. Cetaphil or Vaseline will help. Apply a thick coat after shower. Try not to use soap on the area, it tends to dry the skin. There are a couple of prescriptions that work for some people but they have black box warnings.
