1337810 tn?1333807530 If you feel that the eczema maybe allergy related, then suggest going to an Allergist for him to get tested so you know for sure. If he is allergic to a food type, then you would know what foods to feed him or not.
Avatar n tn My son (15 months) was diagnosed w/ Eczema early on, but nothing the doctor's (pediatrician, allergist, dermatologist) suggested/prescribed has helped much. I've always suspected it was something in his diet which triggered the outbreaks and found tomatoes and oranges made it worst. However, even after avoiding these, something would still set off his ezcema. What do these fruits have in common...Citric Acid! Than I realized so many things he'd consumed contained citric acid...
Avatar m tn Hello, Eczema is characterised by red, dry patches which are itchy. If the rash is non itchy then it can be pityriasis alba. Pityriasis alba is a common skin condition mostly occurring in children and usually seen as dry, fine-scaled, pale patches on the face. No treatment is required and the patches in time will settle in due course of time. The redness, scale and itch if present may be managed with simple emollients and sometimes hydrocortisone, a weak steroid, is also used.

I don't want to have to keep going on with this. My 7 year old it covered head to toe with molluscum and eczema. Can someone please help us.
1486289 tn?1315842255 ve found the aveeno line of products to be EXTREMELY helpful and it has helped us to minimize the use of topical steroids. Aveeno does make a line of products for infants. There is also an infant eczema cream tho I'm not sure of the brand..it's in a pale green and white tube though.
Avatar f tn My 2 yr old tends to get ill very frequently. Approximately every 3 weeks he is ill and is fine for about a week and then is ill again. He doesn't get bed ridden or anything when he is ill but does have trouble breathing especially at night. He has eczema and my sister has asthma. I've been told they are directly related and yesterday we were advised to give him a ventalin (2 puffs just before bed) to see if that helps.
Avatar m tn I am requesting this post be moved to the dermatology forum but I do have an answer for you. My husband has these same spots, and they do itch in winter and sometimes summer also. The spots are called Tinea versicolor. Tinea versicolor in aggravated in humid locations, most often winter because we wear warmer clothes that hold in moisture. In summer, because it is hot and humid outside, which promotes the increase of itching. The Tenia is a fungus, which is not contagious.
Avatar n tn Hello, Apart from steroids which is basic treatment for eczema, topical emmolients to prevent moisture loss from the skin can be used because Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed but they are not used in children.
Avatar f tn Another study showed that children who grow up in 3rd world conditions are less likely to have autoimmune problems then children growing up in a sterile environment. I don't remember where exactly these studies were published but I'm sure you'd be able to find them if you search around peer review scientific articles. Unfortunately for the most part immunology is still a growing field, muddled with uncertainty. Right now all you can do is deal with what you have.
Avatar n tn I noticed that my son developed hair on his scrotum at 4 -1/2 mon old. He is now 6 mon old and the hair is still there. At first I thought it was from desomide-corticosteroid for his eczema so that was d/c'd and i started using hydrocortisone sparingly. He still has the hair and pediatrician thinks its caused by oxytocin found in cows milk and can be excreted through breast milk.
Avatar m tn Is there any sort of preventative treatment for children to make sure they do not suffer from a painful and horrible breakout? According to an article I read the intial breakout is much more severe. Is there a test that can be done to see if my child did infact contract the virus?
Avatar n tn Hello, It can be seborrheic dermatitis or eczema. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp. under the nose or anywhere on face. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated as treatment is diagnosis specific. I hope it helps.
707385 tn?1228925447 He is only 7 months old and his Neurologist has no experience with treating this and said that so far her research has provided no recommended treatment. I know that she has consulted with the headache clinic in New York, but I thought maybe if I could find another family that has delt with this they might be able to at least point me in a direction. My son is only 7 1/2 months old and having attacks every 3 weeks or so. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Try Aveeno products the have body wash for eczema and lotion for it as well.
1281453 tn?1275894600 Hello, From the symptoms the possibility of eczema needs to be ruled out. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Apply calamine lotion and take some antihistaminics like Benadryl. If the symptoms persist then topical steroids may be needed. For this please consult a dermatologist. Also keep it well moisturized as eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin.
Avatar f tn ve done so much research to try and help him, but most things on eczema are for parents with children with it (my fiance is 23) and don't help me much...and he gets worse daily: last night the seeping soaked through two shirts and the pillow he was using (every which way he turned it). Avatar m tn 367-72S). One study gave 3 g/day of GLA for 28 days to children with atopic eczema; although none were completely cured, all experienced improvement in their symptoms and a reduced need for medication (J Int Med Res, 1994; 22: 24-32). Suggested dosage: 2-3 g/day * Omega-3 fatty acids. These essential fatty acids have recognised anti-inflammatory properties.
Avatar f tn We were (well I was) vaccinated as children with no questions asked so why not do the same for your children? because you read somewhere that it causes autism or add, how valid is that? But then think of the facts that are valid and all the viruses your child would be protected from ..
