Common Questions and Answers about Eczema symptoms in dogs

eczema

Avatar m tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.
Avatar m tn Also I lived in Canada when it first happened, I got rid of my cat and dogs and moved to Australia hoping that if it was an outside allergy it would go away but its the exact severity in Australia as it was in Canada. Any ideas from anyone what this might be or what the cause is?!
Avatar n tn Just last week i read about how apple cider vinegar helps in eczema itch relief. I gave it a try and it really works. I diluted the ACV in one part water and one part ACV and applied it with a cotton ball. Let it dry and apply Polisporin to areas that are starting to heal. I know everyone reacts differently but this is the only thing that worked for me for a long time. Im still in the healing stage from the scratching but the itch is gone.
Avatar f tn Treatment is with glucocorticoid (a corticosteroid steroid) ointments, creams or lotions. They do not cure eczema, but are highly effective in controlling or suppressing symptoms in most cases. Since Alcortin contains anti-bacterial, anti-fungal as well as steroid medications it would be safe to use this to treat the condition with this. ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn On top of that she has a very bad case of eczema. and is allergic to dust, carpet, dogs and mildew and grass. when she was 2 till about 1 month ago i had no problem feeding her vegetables, fruit or any food she could tolerate, but recently she has stopped eatting as well as she did before, im so worried she isnt getting enough vitamins and calcium intake. Avatar m tn Sometimes, a biopsy of the skin may be taken in order to rule out other skin diseases that may be producing signs and symptoms similar to eczema. Sometimes a skin allergy test like patch test may be carried out in an attempt to identify the specific trigger of the condition. There are no specific tests to be done at home for confirming eczema. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Avatar m tn i have the herpes virus in my eczema, i was wondering if you could tell me what is the best things to use other than my medication ?
Avatar f tn I have never had issues with allergies before and do not experience any respiratory symptoms other than reacting with hives when petting most dogs. Cannot be cats as I do have one and have no friends who do. Could be pollen tho it started in March and its still snowy here in Alberta and could be dust mites though I was told they dont usually cause issues in AB because its so dry (I keep the humidity in my house less than 50% constantly).

Avatar m tn From the symptoms I think your vet is probably right on the money with the diagnosis of a mass in the brain, but I doubt that the tremors signify pain because you said they are of short duration. Pain wouldn't be that transient, so it sounds like she may be having a neurological reaction to the mass. As long as she is eating her food, eager to go outside and is alert and happy to see you when you talk to her, just let her be. You will know when it's time.
Avatar m tn No, but if a pet has all the symptoms, such as enlargement of all the lymph nodes in an elderly patient there is a chance that the patient may have lymphoma. A veterinarian would than do a fine needle aspirate (needle biopsy), or excisional biopsy, and bloodwork to be definitive.
Avatar n tn You probably have eczema in the groin area. Their are dozens of posts on this site and others concerning the same symptoms. My whole scrotum turns red and sometime the leg creases. None of the medication the doctors gave me do anything. I do not itch unless it turns really red. But when you read about eczema it usually itches and turns red after you scratch it. I never scratch, but it turns red sometimes within minuets. The area gets so dark in color it looks brown.
Avatar f tn Also, I later learned that a guy I work with daily was in the middle of a severe HSV outbreak-on body and in eye- and we are in very close quarters and very friendly/huggy. I cook for him and he is in the office kitchen with me eating etc daily. Could I have caught it from him, esp if I have eczema (the eczema is not severe at all) Am pretty alone in a new town, trying to get into doctors and this is a little of a wild goose chase. So, your advice is certainly appreciated and very helpful.
Avatar f tn Can someone anyone PLEASE HELP ME figure out this poking itch. This is my third post about this with no response. Going on week 3 now I have had this weird poking itch. It started on my arm right on the opposite side of my elbow on my left arm. It's in one tiny spot. It feels like someone is taking a fox tail and just poking me over and over again in the same spot. After the second week it poking moved to my elbow. There is no marks.
Avatar n tn what advice would you give me i suffer with severe eczema and im going abroad for the first time to tunisia. This discussion is related to Facial Cysts? Treatment?.
666065 tn?1225300076 I have dry, rough, slightly reddened areas in the front of both ears. I also noticed that the sides of my neck feel a little rough and dry, however it is not as noticeable as the areas in front of my ears. My skin is normally dry, so I use a lot of lotion. However, lotion has no effect on these dry areas. Just for added info., I don't have psoriasis. My husband tried to take a picture, but the area is not visible in a photo. I have a slight sore throat and feel more tired than normal.
Avatar m tn Your wife should avoid hot water (wear gloves if she has to wash dishes), fragranced lotions, and other harsh chemicals. Also, sunlight helps to alleviate symptoms. My daughter only has symptoms in the late fall and winter months. They clear from mid-April through about mid-September or October. With that thought, vitamin D is vital to many functions of the body. Your wife might want her doctor to check her vitamin D level to make sure that it is not low.
