Common Questions and Answers about Eczema natural ointments

eczema

Avatar n tn I know this misery well. Once I went on my first elimination diet for the digestive issues, that's when I discovered the true source of my misery: GLUTEN and DAIRY. The two go hand-in-hand. Look up key words like "eczema diet" "what not to eat with eczema". Conventional doctors usually miss this. I stumbled upon it myself when looking into my other health issues.
1014914 tn?1251084646 t use the ointment, the eczema will totally reappear after just one or two days.So I apply the ointments just about every night. My question is, will I be applying ointments for the rest of my life or is there some sort of long term treatment or other medicine that can be had? If I have to apply ointments then so be it, but I would rather not have to every day!

Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with mild eczema on the base of my penis shaft. I have 3 or 4 red area's that I just cannot get to go away, it feels dry and is almost painful. I have been trying to not use the steroid cream too much but it seems like the only thing that really makes it feel better. Should I try not using anything? Would using the steroid cream too much keep the area red overall? Would anyone have any suggestions on the best moisturizer to use in that area for eczema?
Avatar m tn This too can be treated with Corticosteroid ointments. They do not cure eczema, but are highly effective in controlling or suppressing symptoms in most cases. Antihistamine, like Cetrizine may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema. Unfortunately, both the conditions have a history of recurring, so you will have to treat it each time it occurs. ref:http://www.myonlinewellness.com/topic/adam1000869 ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn I have Dyshidrotic Eczema, which is a specific type of eczema that gluten and dairy are known triggers for flare ups. More so by natural medicine than by conventional medicine. Once I stopped gluten and limited the dairy to a minute amount, I no longer get the miserable flare ups.
Avatar m tn I have problem. When I get stressed or hungery, my skin becomes dry and wrinkeled. after I get full and relaxed, my skin looks more natural and oily soft. I work and go to college, so I can't stay away of being hungery or stressed, because I spent hours in work and collge with full of stress. is there any medicine for this or is this normal. I am 26 years old, and I look older than that. this condition started 3 years ago, but now it is increasing.
Avatar f tn But NEVER itchy. The dermatologist says it is eczema and we went along with that. He has gone through tons of ointments. For the last few months it has just been a minor but consistent few small areas. Never goes away, has not flared up. We continue to use the latest lotion but the doctor warned us to not use it frequently because it could thin his skin? Yet we end up using it every night because the rash is always there.
Avatar n tn My child has worsening itching, dryness and redness around her inner knees and elbows, with additional patches around her thighs, armpits and neck areas due to her eczema. I put moisturizers (aveeno) and hydrocortisone, but it just doesn't work. I have seen my friend's kid use prescription steriod ointments (i.e.desonide) and it seems to help, but what are the long term side effects?
Avatar m tn I've been diagnosed with eczema on the underside of my penis. 1% hydrocortisone seems to make it worse. What would be an alternative, milder treatment?
Avatar n tn hi i am a 19yo male, and i have eczema and recently, eczema has developed on de underside of my scrotum, may i know is the fucicort cream safe to apply on my scrotum?
Avatar m tn it appears to be an "eczema" disease. i'v been experiencing it for 2 years and it spreaded from my middle, to the 2nd, 4th and now the 1st finger (only right hand). So the finger's skin made a cycle, where it peeled, and then it grows the newer one but its thick and theres no fingrprint in it, then it goes back to peeling and again. (But in a small area).
569479 tn?1247244001 Hi, This could be an eczema of the skin folds. Eczema is a form of dermatitis, or inflammation of the upper layers of the skin. The term eczema is broadly applied to a range of persistent skin conditions. These include dryness and recurring skin rashes which are characterized by one or more of these symptoms: redness, skin edema (swelling), itching and dryness, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, or bleeding.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am in need of some help. My doctor and dermatologist first thought eczema, then 'contact dermatitis', now just shurg. I have been prescribed some ointments, but nothing helps. The skin on my palms and on the bottom of my feet will crack and peel off. Sometimes it will move to the side of a finger. It is severe, sometimes bleeding and painful. I only use hypoallergenic products and that helps. At night I put on vinyl gloves and that helps as well.
Avatar m tn It is usually seen in uncircumcised men due to poor hygiene. Other causes are dermatitis, allergies, infection such as candida, gonorrhea etc, eczema. Treatment depends upon the cause of the rash, antibacterial or antifungal .ointments can be prescribed by the doctor. It is important to keep the area clean and also to avoid strong soaps or chemicals which can cause a skin reaction. It is always better to see your doctor who can diagnose and prescribe appropriate treatment for you.
9474591 tn?1403997568 I've been getting "flare-ups" like these for several years now. Maybe every 6 months. It begins as hardened blisters with nothing underneath that eventually peel. It can be very painful. My dermatologist listed it as onychomycosis but I've tried many ointments and nothing has worked. It seems to just have to run its course. I'd rather get to the root of the problem and figure out whether I perhaps have a deficiency in something or maybe something even worse.
Avatar n tn s have told me that it might be eczema I had many ointments and creams prescribed but none have seemed to resolve the problem. my knuckles are not itchy and red all the time, it occurs more so around winter but i am sure its not due to cold weather, i have considered that it might be stress ( as Stress causes Eczema) but then again i'm not stressed, the knuckles are dry, cracking and are very itchy, if anyone has any ideas PLEASE post !!!
Avatar f tn But doctors flock towards eczema diagnostics and give you ointments. These ointments are oil based. Thus what you sweat through it is kept from the skin from the oil. And thus the salt isn't all over your skin and this helps. And that is my theory of how ointments help rashes. Wear some loose cotton panties. And wear two shirts. Tuck the under shirt "100% cotton inside your panties. And wear that one inside out so even the polyester in the threads are on the outside.
Avatar n tn The dermatologist said he had no diagnosis. He said he was leaning towards eczema, but then said it could be some sort of cancer from within and he did a biopsy. I am 73. I have no other symtoms. No fevers, no night sweats, no weight loss, no loss of appetite. The rash is red, it is not purple and does not hurt. He really scared me. I am quite upset. He proscribed a cream for eczema and told me to see if that helped.
Avatar n tn Dermatitis is often treated by glucocorticoid (a corticosteroid steroid) ointments, creams or lotions. They do not cure eczema, but are highly effective in controlling or suppressing symptoms in most cases. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide).
583092 tn?1218128207 So I told my sis and she said it my be eczema and I have never had eczema before so I looked it up and tried to find about it. So now I think it is eczema. I just don't understand why it came out of nowhere. If it is an allergic reaction it only happens on the places where I really do not use he acne treatment? My skin has become really dry in those places that were itchy, so I wanted to know if it was eczema or not and if the acne treatment could be the cause.
Avatar n tn Okay, I know what Elidel is and that it is a non-steroidal treatment to dermatitis. However, I want to know if it thins the skin at all, to any extent? I read on the internet from multiple websites, that TCI's do not cause skin thinning or the side effects associated with steroid ointments, which is why it's usually used. However, one website stated that Elidel does not thin the skin "as much as" steroid creams do! So which is it for sure?
Avatar m tn I have no clue what it could be. I was first told it was eczema and then was told it was an allergy to cleaning products. I was told it was not eczema b/c it is only on the palms of my hands. I've been wearing gloves when cleaning and it still wont go away. Need help I've been dealing with this for about 3 mos. Thanks!
