Eczema in ear canal treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Eczema in ear canal treatment

eczema

I use this after every time I shower and I have not had a break since until now. Recently medication used for my ear caused me to develop eczema in my ear. I was prescribed a medication but after my first experience I had little faith in it. I decided to try my own cure first. I have been taking a small piece of rolled tissue and dipping it into the Cetaphil lotion. I then gently roll it around inside my ear.
What is an effective treatment for Eczema in the ear canal?
I do keep the ear very dry using ear putty when I shower, and I always use a Q-tip to make sure the ear canal is dry, just in case some moisture made it through.
The next step would be topical steroid lotion or drops into the ear canal, placement of steroid cream into the ear canal by the ENT, or use of a steroid-in-oil drop (Dermotic, for example). There are also other creams that have been tried (Elidel, etc) that are actually used for eczema or psoriasis on other parts of the body. This is not widely accepted as yet. Hope this helps! Good luck. See an ENT physician for a full diagnosis.
The last diagnosis is that her eardrum is fine, but there is ear eczema present. The treatment is Erythromycin ointment, along with Triamcinolone cream, and 500 m.g. of Penicillin VK four times a day. Does this diagnosis sound like a correct one? If so, what is there to expect?... and is this a temporary condition or a lifelong problem? If this doesn't seem like a correct diagnosis, what else could it be?
I also experience these weird pains in my head that come for about a second and then go and come back again every 10minutes or so. These pains are in 1 area in the back of my head in about a 1 square inch area.. Any ideas???
The ENT's say that is all in my head - some say it is from having ear buddies in my ears all day with air "voices" hissing though them, I dunno but it sure is annoying. Its like getting to the top of the hill and my ears are plugged then they don't unplug when I come down. Actually too, they get worse when I do that. Ho-hum... Anyway, glad to hear about the smoke smell. That was something that I really wondered about. I will continue to monitor this site and see whats up.
Now, in the past few weeks, in my left ear canal, there is another patch of the same thing! It is litterally inside my ear canal. I have to use a q-tip on some mornings to clear my blocked ear canal from the scaling. I cannot afford to go to a dermatologist. I can't put steriod cream on it. It's litterally in my hair and in my ear. Since my symptoms got worse, I have attempted to remove any irritants. I changed to a organic lavender/hemp castille soap with no Sodium Laureth Sulfates.
About 48 hours ago, I noticed this heat sensation in my left shin. At first I thought I was standing too close to a heat vent in the floor at work! It is a warm, sort of tingly sensation that lasts 5 seconds and occurs, I don't know, 10 times throughout the day. I wonder if I slept on the leg funny?? Stress?? I am 43 and in reasonably good health but seem to be a hypochondriac (spelling?) at times.
Have you guys (girls) used Lupron before?? I had such a rash from the stuff, and the Estrace. They even put it down for me on my allergy medication along with Codeine. The stuff drives me up a wall. If you have any eczema be careful ~ it will multiply your symptoms. My acupuncturist said I had "heat" in my system and the meds just made it worse. Have a good night! (I was supposed to eat light, but was able to eat some roast & veggies...mmm...!!)..Nighty night!!
As I was always itching my ear, the skin tissue was breaking free from the ear and getting in to the ear canal etc. He prescribed a product called Dermotic Oil (ear drops - prescription only and NO generic). I have used it for two weeks and I am weaning myself off it. I do NOT have any more itchig and I can heaer. Maybe this is is your answer.
She still uses a hearing aid for her hearing loss in her ear, and other than the sinusitis and the eczema, has no other medical health problems. Thank you and I hope you and your daughter are doing ok and that you have found some answers.
Av, its horrible. Mine has been going on for three years. The only benefit is that I do not hear my husband's snoring. I lay down and they immediately clog. I did used to get really nasty smelling crud out of them every morning. I have had times when my jaw is so sore, or my ear, or below my ear. This has been such a pain in "the ear" for me. Richt now the itchiness is truly driving me nuts.
I usually avoid consulting 'Dr Google' but pain has made me start to wonder if have TN. 2 yrs ago I had several months of facial pain & swelling. Initially, I was thought to have salivary gland stones due to the hard lumps to one side of my face. Eventually they decreased, but swelling appeared around my jaw & next.
Your symptoms describe exactly what has happened to my nose to which I have no definitive answer despite seeing various consultants.
but if the doctor sees a lot of fluid in the ear itself pushing up against the ear canal it can be used. it was a lot more common to prescribe decongestants 5 years ago. that's why i was surprised about that. although, you live in a different area of the country, so maybe they do things differently down there? when dd was congested, she slept terrbily but always woke herself up to breathe. the poor thing wouldn't just breathe out of her mouth.
My hearing was getting worse in that ear..sounds were distorted and amplified and caused pain. I thought I had a very bad ear infection. I'd thought I'd slept in a bad position and had a stiff neck. (Leading up to this episode, I'd been under a terrible amount of stress for weeks...very tired...had some cold/flu like symptoms, including loose bowel movements. ) I went to the emergency room at 2 AM because I couldnt tolerate the worsening pain and the facial paralysis had me frightened.
This somewhat kept it at bay but my eyelid was always red and swollen and peeling would come and go. I also had this condition inside my ears on the top just going into the ear canal. Anyway, after reading all of your posts I became more and more interested in what people were saying about Mario Bedescu control cream. I had an extra $30.00 that I could afford to buy the cream with and quickly ordered it from Nordstroms.
2 degree temperature for 6 days (it was coming back to normal at some parts of the day) Here is the story On the 24th of december I went to the dentist to have a root canal treatment on one of my tooth and other work was done on my teeth, the dentist prescribed me Dalacin C 300mg for a week in order to avoid any infections. I also have a rotten tooth that also needs a root canal treatment.
Day 22 Cold Turkey Tramadol ... I woke up HAPPY. I used to wake up happy all the time, before the Tramadol. Waking up happy is good. Then I tried to move. I had to use my hands and arms to get up out of bed. My body has been pushed as far as it will go. So after trying all my best tricks (aminos, coffee, food, vitamins, water) I finally stopped the struggle and called in sick for work. Tomorrow will be a busier day anyhow.
I've started using Neem on my daughter that forever has that nasty, eczema rash in the folds of her elbows. Gone! No more elidel, no more cortersone! I highly recommend Neem. The only thing I need now is the money to fix my stretched out, thinned out eyelids which make me look 10 years older than I am.
The steroid cream she gave me cleared up the the tears and irritation, as did the yeast infection treatment. I also have been only wearing white cotton underwear (my gyno said that the dye in undies can be an irritant), and used only warm water to wash the area. I thought I would share my experience, because I think it is similar to many of yours. I would recommend getting tested (for peace of mind if nothing else...
I have been to many doctors and of course the dont know what it is, I have done many studies and have realized it is anxiets, and what is happening in most cases is that the anxiety is causing the muscles in your forehead and muscles around your ear and inner ear to tense up giving you the sinus pressure and the dizzyness and equilibrium problems, try seeing a doctor for anxiety it might work, its been working for me.
I can feel them crawling under my skin, they hang out in my ear (not sure if under the skin or just in the canal) all day, it's gross. No one in the house (my wife and 3 kids) can feel them. My wife has bites all up and down her legs and even a protruded ring looking this on her forearm. As you might have imagined I'm loosing my mind and life, nothing is the same.
CAn someone decribe what your hives look like. I was diagnosed with eczema back in 2001 but since over the past year I am breaking out almost everyday in welts, stomach, arms, chest, back, legs but never my face. The are extremly itching and red raised areas and on my back there are small bumps along with redness.
Then we took another couple of trips and my feet and hands became extremely dry, cracked, the crease in my ear lobes, around my nose sides of my mouth would crack. Skin literally seemed to fall off of my face when i got off of the plane from Mexico to WA and it wasnt from a sunburn. During this time, the last 2.5 yrs I have had the itch below....details described in a post above I listed a few months ago. I did the detergent, soap change, cotton underwear etc.
Sex started getting painful for me in my early 30s. At first it was bearable then after taking antibiotics for an ear infection it got dramatically worse and even a smear test became a major trauma. My GP (after giving me thrush medication despite a negative test for thrush) referred me to a gyno who tested for thrush again (also negative), and performed a colposcopy which didn't help.
The periodontist wants me to wait until the permanent filling is in the tooth they did a retreat on the root canal on, and for a month after that to see if the feeling in my mouth will go away. He also says that he is 100% sure that none of my symptoms are related to the implant. He just does not get it. Next week I am going to an ENT to talk about the inflammation of the sinus above the implant and to ask his opinion, so I will let you know how that goes.
my gyn has had a lot of success with this treatment and hopes that in 6 weeks i should finally be healed. i'll post an update soon. extra advice: if your gyn is not helping, get a new one!! ask other women and see who comes recommended. it's also nice to find a doctor who is open to incorporating herbal remedies into the treatment. western biomedicine tends to focus strictly on the part of the body that is sick. sometimes they miss the bigger picture.
UPDATE: Nothing showed in the pelvic MRI, which in one way is good, but still frustrating that Doctors keep coming up empty handed. I researched "persistant sexual stimulation" and I definitely don't have that either. I'm still experiencing swelling in the inner labia.
