Common Questions and Answers about Eczema in corner of mouth

eczema

Avatar m tn In the past few months I have begun to have regular episodes of redness, flaking, minor bumps (can't tell if they are blisters), and minimal pain, around the corner of my mouth. It feels and kind of looks like an extreme case of chapped lips but it's not happening anywhere else on my lips . I've never had this problem and I haven't changed cosmetics, toothpaste, etc. I've been doing some research and think it may be eczema around my lips.
Avatar m tn I just noticed that my daughter has a small pimple (cold sore) like bump on the corner of her mouth. This is the first time for her having this some I'm not even sure if it is a cold sore..she also has eczema. I have genital herpes and I used my finger with my saliva to wipe some toothpaste off her mouth. Now, I'm worried that I gave her the virus. Just wondering if this is possible?
Avatar f tn When I looked at it closely it seemed like 1 small purple dot then 3 in a row along the crease of the corner of my mouth and do then one more mini dot below my crease. Today I took of the skin in the crease and it seemed like a regular scab to me.
Avatar n tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.
Avatar n tn 1 morning i woke up and the corner of my mouth was wet so i scratched it. It started to itch and burn and in 5 mins it turned in to small blisters that contain clear fluid. After the blisters poped it formed yellowish crust/brown crust over. But... it was only at the corner of my mouth, no where on my lip, chin, or anywhere else on my face or body. The scary thing is that cold sores can do the same but if it's only at the corner than it might not be herpes but a bacteria infection.
Avatar f tn White dot around corner of mouth, muscle aches, white dots on clit, left labia is white flakey and dry,
Avatar f tn I quickly realised that the skin around my eye started to become red, itchy and scaly, reminiscent of eczema or some other dermatological condition, and this red scaliness was particularly bad on the eyelid. In fact, it gave the skin around my eye a badly wrinkled, slightly swollen appearance. I would wake up in the mornings and find my left eye “glued together” with this crusty, faintly yellow stuff and I would have to pry it open. After about a week of this, I visited a doctor.
Avatar n tn Angular cheilitis is an inflammatory lesion at the labial commissure, or corner of the mouth and manifests as deep cracks or splits. More commonly it is caused by a fungal infection. Dry out the lesions completely by patting and air drying after washing with a mild soap and use petroleum jelly to lock out moisture. It is vital that the affected areas be clean and completely dry before application of the jelly.
Avatar f tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. They do not cure eczema, but are highly effective in controlling or suppressing symptoms in most cases. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide).
Avatar m tn I apologize in advance for how lengthy this will be. But I am a 18 year old female who has never had any major issues until about a month or two ago. I have this thing on the bottom of my lip it doesn't look anything like a cold sore. Its towards the corner or my mouth by not directly in the corner so to speak. You can't really see it at all until you get directly up in my face. It doesn't really hurt at all just a slight tingle.

Avatar f tn I've had this problem with dark circles in the corner of my mouth since I was a child. I have sensitive skin and used to suck my thumb ( which a dermatologist suggested may have been the cause; saliva) I have tried plenty of cremes and lip balm over the years - it has only given me relief of chapped skin but the color is still the same and it is very noticeable. I have yet to try any bleaching cremes since I'm nervous of the results.
1591038 tn?1297091183 The lips do not crack or feel painful however I have difficulty in talking as the lips feel dry especially at the corner of the mouth. I do drink a lot of water as such I don'nt think it is dehydration. My appetite is good and I don't feel sick just the dryness. Could the dryness be caused by an autimune disorder? I need help!
Avatar f tn I have an irritation at the corner of my mouth, and I'm very scared it's herpes because of the recent oral-genital contact I've had with my boyfriend and the potential consequences of that interaction for both of us. I would very much appreciate opinions. There are pictures of the sore below. http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s351/idatezombies2/IMG_1049.jpg http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s351/idatezombies2/IMG_1052.jpg http://i511.photobucket.
Avatar m tn The big issue started when I would shave after 4-5 days without shaving - where the dry skin used to be was now replaced with light red spots at the corner of my mouth. Now - these red spots are much bigger and a darker red now that the cold weather has arrived. I have had these red spots for most of my life, but it has never been this bad. When I rub the red spots, they are very smooth - almost like plastic. I feel like the skin is just dead, but doesn't peel or anything.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have always had "issues" with my lips. Every since I can remember, I've had on and off "cuts" in the corners of my mouth, someones on one side, sometimes on both-- when I was younger I used to call it "clown mouth." I also have very very dry, flaky lips. When i put creams, etc on it, it just seems to help maybe while it's still on, but once the cream dries/ gets wiped off etc my lips are back to how they were.
Avatar m tn This continued for a week and then I went to see a dermatologist doctor. He mentioned to me that these are classic symptoms of eczema and prescribed hydrocortisone. I started applying it all over including lips and my itching started reducing. But at the same time, I was tensed and eventually, a small pimple was formed on the edge of my lip. I was worried about herpes and I could not sleep properly. The pimple was single-headed, white-headed and it went off in 2 days.
Avatar n tn Itchy, flaky, red (and puffy) skin in patches around my eyelids, on/in my ears and on my nipples and even at the corner of my mouth that, at the most severe, was very painful and would crack and bleed (did not notice anything around the groin). I became incredibly frustrated, with my eyes looking so bad and hurting so much it was a mission just to leave the house. I went to a doctor who prescribed a Betnesol cream. Within a day the condition was markedly better.

Avatar m tn It does not sound like herpes.Angular cheilitis is an inflammatory lesion at the corner of the mouth. Take some vitamin B complex for some days and see if your symptoms improve. Drink plenty of water and take multivitamin supplements and do not apply lipstick or other cosmetic products for some days. Use a humidifier to moisturize the air in your home and apply shea butter, aloe vera gel or Vaseline on your lips.
Avatar f tn For perhaps 15 yrs, I have had an ongoing problem. Every doctor that I have told, looks at me, trying not to say 'you're crazy.' The space between my two front teeth and the line that runs to connect to my lip itch constantly, non stop.
Avatar f tn My daughter had that for a while but around her mouth, and ur babys doc should give you med cream for it
Avatar n tn On friday I noticed something under my skin at the corner of my mouth. It was a bit sensitive but nothing too much there visually. It felt as if i would be getting a pimple or a blind pimple. I put some acne medicine on it and went to bed. On sat morning I noticed a red pimple like bump had formed and it was painful. Going against what I have been told, I tried popping it but failed. I just irritated it a bit I think. If this were anywhere else on my face I would chalk it up to an angry pimple.
Avatar f tn I did have a very mild problem with sores in the corner of my mouth, in my first TX back in 2006,i found a stevia extract liquid applied directly helped and i also used a mild cortizone cream.
1176841 tn?1330832460 Not sure if I am at the right forum but for 2 weeks now I have been having this strange feeling of my upper lip and corner of my mouth, it feels like it is swollen it tingles and the corner of my mouth feels like it is drowling all the time. I go to feel it or look at it - not swollen or wet. I use chap stick like there is no tomorrow but it is not helping. What do I do, where do I go for this? Is it a real problem?
