Eczema in corner of mouth

Common Questions and Answers about Eczema in corner of mouth

eczema

Had a tiny white pimple appear in the same spot about two weeks apart near the corner of my mouth, on my lower lip. I originally thought it was a cold sore (herpes), which I have never had but realized it never amounted to anything -- and both times the pimple appeared there was no tingling -- further it was extremely small. However, both times it appeared I was under extreme stress the night before.
THe thing that's bothering me is something I don't ever remember having which started out on the corner of my mouth as an itchy red space that spread up my lip and is now finally covering the whole top lip and upper lip area, and some of the edge on the bottom lip. The reason I suspect that it is eczema is that it weeps when inflamed and flakes/ peels just like eczema. The redness and very slight swelling is there as well. It gets worse if I am around cats which I am allergic to.

Over the past several months, I've developed a series of small red bumps around the outside of my mouth (chin, corner of lip). The bumps have led to some flaking. For a while, I ignored the bumps thinking it was a mild case of eczema and the problem would resolve itself with time and extra moisture. However, the bumps have spread farther along my chin and have gotten more pronounced (more flaking and redness).
It started a couple of months ago as just an itchy patch on the right corner of my mouth that would kind of come and go but mostly be there. It's now spread over my lips, especially the top lip and is itchy and red, especially in the shower. It weeps; and cracks like eczema as well which is why I think it is eczema. Right now, I am using a 1% hydrocortisone cream with colloidial properties and vaseline but it is not really working to get rid of it.
For the last two months I have had a red dry scaly rash starting under my nose and spreading on the left side down to the corner of my mouth. It is itchy but burns when scratched. My Dr. prescribed 1% hydro cortisone which I have applied twice a day for the last month resulting in only a slight reduction of the rash appearance and no relief from the itching and burning. Is this ecsema or maybe another condition? Is there any other effective treatment?
Periodically, I suffer from cracks in the corner of my mouth and it usually follows with an ulcer on my tongue. I had a crack appear about 2 weeks ago and it was the worse I ever had and a fever blister soon formed almost on top of it, then 3 sores erupted on my tongue!! Ouch! While using Abreva on the cold sore it finally healed and the crack managed to as well altho it took much longer to go completely. This morning I wake up and yawn and boom, another crack!!
1/2009 (3 months old) - My son developed a couple of quarter-size spots on his head, with a rough crusty texture, yellowish in color. The pediatrician diagnosed the spots as cradle cap and said they would go away with time. 5/28/2009 - Spots on his head started "oozing", also developed small red spots on his face and upper body. Pediatrician diagnosed as a staph infection, and treated with oral anti-biotics (cephalexin).

Angular cheilitis is an inflammatory lesion at the labial commissure, or corner of the mouth and manifests as deep cracks or splits. More commonly it is caused by a fungal infection. Dry out the lesions completely by patting and air drying after washing with a mild soap and use petroleum jelly to lock out moisture. It is vital that the affected areas be clean and completely dry before application of the jelly.

Unfortunately with me, i get a pain when it happens.. which *****. I get it in the base of skull, bottom right corner above neck behind and down from right ear. I am booking into the doctor and will let you know what they say (if anything). Like the majority of you, everyone thought i was mad when i tried to tell them. Perhaps it might be worthwhile to get an MRI, US or CT to see if there is anything going on inside my noggin.
I just noticed that my daughter has a small pimple (cold sore) like bump on the corner of her mouth. This is the first time for her having this some I'm not even sure if it is a cold sore..she also has eczema. I have genital herpes and I used my finger with my saliva to wipe some toothpaste off her mouth. Now, I'm worried that I gave her the virus. Just wondering if this is possible?

Hi, This could be an eczema of the lips. The form of eczema that affects the lips is known as cheilitis. This causes roughness to the lips and can make them very sensitive, causing them to itch. This eczema starts off with just a few rough patches on both of their lips, sometimes they are difficult to see, however they are painful to the touch. These rough patches are not normally located inside the mouth, normally they are located where the lip joins onto the normal skin of the face.
apply lip balm which contains sunscreen – preferably a medicated one. If you have cracks at the corner of your mouth it indicates B2 deficiency in this case you need to take B2 supplements. It could be eczema, sweat dermatitis, or allergic reactions. Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g.
In the past few months I have begun to have regular episodes of redness, flaking, minor bumps (can't tell if they are blisters), and minimal pain, around the corner of my mouth. It feels and kind of looks like an extreme case of chapped lips but it's not happening anywhere else on my lips . I've never had this problem and I haven't changed cosmetics, toothpaste, etc. I've been doing some research and think it may be eczema around my lips. Do these symptoms sound familiar for eczema?
My burning smell was caused by hypothyroidism and I also had an acid taste in my mouth. I had this for a couple of years and of course was told it was in my head and put on antidepressants. When I started talking Eltroxin for my thyroid the smell went away along with many other unexplained symtoms.

You have blisters in the corner of ur mouth? hm here's a question do you drool at night because i do. 1 morning i woke up and the corner of my mouth was wet so i scratched it. It started to itch and burn and in 5 mins it turned in to small blisters that contain clear fluid. After the blisters poped it formed yellowish crust/brown crust over. But... it was only at the corner of my mouth, no where on my lip, chin, or anywhere else on my face or body.
since the blister and during i have had this tiny amounts of watery discharge seeping out of the corner of my eye.constantly!.toward the nose. Two days ago i felt like something was pumping air into my eye, like inflating it.. as well as pushing it out of my socket. ah! only lasted for a day, almost two. But during this time the watering pretty much stopped completely. My vision has been cloudy especially on the side, but also in the front top of the center.
One more thing- it may or may not be related but yesterday morning I woke up with a dry, red, sore patch of skin around the left corner of my mouth. When covered up with makeup, it's not so bad, but still notciable and sometimes itchy. I put on some E45 cream today, as I thought this would help, but I think it made it worse as it started stinging and burning almost immediatley. I never had this before, only since the problem has returned to my eyelids. Related, perhaps?
As of right now, I have an itchy ratch on the corner of my mouth, It has small whitish and reddish bumps, is itchy and inflamed, and is really starting to become uncomfortable. In the past, I've had a similar rash across my entire mouth, which in the most severe cases, it spread to the area on my mouth, and in the smallest case, it only being on an isolated portion of my mouth, Same symptoms, severity varied.
The lips do not crack or feel painful however I have difficulty in talking as the lips feel dry especially at the corner of the mouth. I do drink a lot of water as such I don'nt think it is dehydration. My appetite is good and I don't feel sick just the dryness. Could the dryness be caused by an autimune disorder? I need help!
I went to pick of Greydon from daycare and as I walked through the door, I noticed two signs on the classroom window of illness cases that have infected a few kids in his class. I don't remember one, but the other said there were three cases of hand, foot and mouth disease. Then one of his caretakers says to me that Greydon's eyes have been leaking green goo all day.
