Avatar n tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.

Avatar n tn 22yo male with history of eczema since infancy (also asthma/allergies). Historically treated with hydroxyzine and topical steroid cream. One year ago, skin condition worsened. Experienced "sunburn" like appearance to face with severe itching to scalp and face. the usual bleeding and large, painful lymph nodes to scalp and neck. Treated with several rounds of oral steroids and antibiotics. No relief presently with maximum dose of hydroxyzine.
Avatar n tn I woke myself up a few nights ago because my hand had began to itch. When i woke up in the morning i looked at it and a rash, consisting of small, itchy, red bumps, had appeared on the knuckles of both my pointer fingers. It has been about 4 days now and the rash has spread up my pointer fingers, to the next knuckles, down the side of my hands and to my elbows. I have had a slight history of eczema, however, it was on my neck area and i have not had a flare up in about 3 years.
Avatar n tn Approxiamtely 4 months ago I was diagnosed with Eczema on the face. I was given daktacort hydrocortisine to manage the flare-ups which has controlled the eczema. However after using the cream for about 3 months I began to develop an area of redness on one side of my nose which goes across my cheek bone. It seems to be very sensitive to the sun, after I wash my face and in certain environments. Grateful for your advice.

Avatar f tn See beside photo- I have had this rash appearing on my face for a few years now. It appears around my mouth, chin, and sometimes in patches on my cheeks. It is not rosacea. I have spent lots of money going to many dermatologists and they have no idea what it is. They/ I think it may flare up be my immune system when it's down, but are there any treatments I could use to help stop these random outbreaks? I use eczema cream, moisturizer, lip creams etc...

Avatar n tn My child has worsening itching, dryness and redness around her inner knees and elbows, with additional patches around her thighs, armpits and neck areas due to her eczema. I put moisturizers (aveeno) and hydrocortisone, but it just doesn't work. I have seen my friend's kid use prescription steriod ointments (i.e.desonide) and it seems to help, but what are the long term side effects?
Avatar n tn For the last seven years, onset was during my pregnacy with my twins, I have had a slightly reddend area that has somewhat of a hyper exfoliation to it. I have managed to keep this area not a problem by being extremely careful of what I use on my face. Most makeup ,face lotions and some foods will exacerbate it and if something irritated itseverely evoclin gel woul calm it down although I would only use 1-2 treatment because it would burn.

Avatar f tn If I remember correctly, they were contained in a pink patch, almost like an eczema patch. I didn’t think much of it, and it seemed to flare in the heat and be fine otherwise. The bumps were even a little hard to see. That was in August. Our pediatrician said it looked like eczema but it didn’t really look like his other patches of eczema which were always rough and flaky.

Avatar f tn Avoid using any creams or lotions over the face as this may only worsen the condition. Washing the face with a mild cleanser such as Cetaphil may be able to help. Applying mildly potent steroids during intense flare ups may be necessary.

Its very red, angry and peeling off in sheets. Its not that itchy but has spread wide. It hurts to open my mouth wide as it feels like my face is going to crack. I've only had it this bad a couple of times before but its so bad at the minute. I've been putting E45 on it and my steroid cream on but nothing is working.
