Common Questions and Answers about Eczema face cheeks

eczema

Avatar m tn There is a sharp line on both cheeks demarcating the normal area from the affected area. I wash with cetaphil face wash and afterwards the areas are extremely dry and flaky. I'm thinking its either eczema or seborrheic dermatitis? Any advice would help! I have seen my GP and he advised me to stop using anything for a week and to come back and see him. He hasn't made a diagnosis yet.
Avatar n tn ive recently been getting red, dry itchy burning skin, and it appears in the same places all the time. in my eyebrows, the bridge of my nose, both my cheeks, and along my jawline on each side. it usually goes away for a while, but it always comes back. i took some pictures today if anyone would like to see them. it looks so horrible this morning that i had to stay home from work. it also goes into my gotee and moustache, turning them both red and burning, and also cause flaking.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I first got an allergy to using a sunscreen. My forehead and cheeks broke out in a face rash that had small red non itcy bumps. That went away but then I have some larger itchy bumps that won't go away. I don't think they are an infection it is related to the allergy. I am only washing my face with Cetaphil and then adding 10% glycerin for some hydration to these spots. Glycerin is a natural substance found in the body and I don't think that is causing a problem.
Avatar n tn Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, itchy scales to form on oily areas of the face esp cheeks and forhead. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist.
3183132 tn?1344613043 Hi! Recently patches of skin on my: chin, cheeks, forehead, the area in between my eyebrows, and the area underneath my nose (above my mouth) have become pinkish-red, dry, sore, and inflamed. I've put Neosporin and moisturizer in all of these spots, but it has no effect. It always hurts, and I can't figure out what's wrong! It looks almost like a rash, but I'm really not sure. Thanks!
Avatar m tn i have had red cheeks my whole life, but around age 14 they started to feel uncomfortable like my cheeks were burning, i consulted a dermatologist and they told me that salicylic acid would work, all that did was irritate it and make it worse. This year every single night it seems to flare up more (get more red and feel much worse). Also during the cold, the heat and when i exercise they feel worse.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm new to the forum, but I thought I might be able to find some help here. So here's my story: I've had Eczema for my whole life. Around 10th grade it moved from JUST my legs, to head to toe. This was due to my sister bringing home a Cat(which I'am HIGHLY allergic to), I also developed severe Asthma because of this. Anyway, recently my Eczema cleared up when I moved to an apartment with amazing water quality lol.ter filtration This was the case for about a year and a half.
Avatar m tn No lupus here. My immune system is in good shape, my dr. says.
Avatar n tn But after the facial, my cheeks started feeling very uncomfortable. My cheeks were burning. So after I paid for my facial I went to the restroom to take a look in the mirror. I saw my whole cheeks swollen with red blotches. So I went out and talked to the esthetician. She said I might have an allergic reaction to facial. She tried to take off the product that was applied to my face after the exfoliation. And tried to apply creams to help calm the skin.
Avatar m tn Hi, This could be an eczema or atopic dermatitis. The term eczema is broadly applied to a range of persistent skin conditions. These include dryness and recurring skin rashes which are characterized by one or more of these symptoms: redness, skin edema (swelling), itching and dryness, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, or bleeding. It is basically a skin inflammation which is caused due to genetic predisposition and environmental factors, allergy being the most important factor.
Avatar n tn Hi could you possibly give me some insite into my sons skin, he is just 2 yrs old and suffering from very red inflammed cheeks with tiny spots, the doc says eczema a dermatologist says acne. He has no classic signs of acne no comedones nor are spots pustules. I have tried both very small amounts of cortizone and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide just on the spots butno better. can food intolerances cause this?
Avatar f tn I dont think its eczema because I grew up dealing with it and it feels and looks different than eczema. It doesn't itch like eczema.

Avatar f tn Hello, Although it sounds like eczema but eczema presents with dry itchy skin. There is no itchiness in your case. So firstly seborrheic dermatitis has to be ruled out. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how your son is doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn This sounds like eczema. The fact that nothing works is typical of eczema. Everyone is different and no one product works for everyone. The rash comes and goes and for some never goes away. The skin barrier is not working properly and your immune system identifies innocuous substances as harmful. You are probably allergic to some of the creams they told you to use. One thing that works most of the time is Vaseline. I know it's greasy but it works.
Avatar f tn See beside photo- I have had this rash appearing on my face for a few years now. It appears around my mouth, chin, and sometimes in patches on my cheeks. It is not rosacea. I have spent lots of money going to many dermatologists and they have no idea what it is. They/ I think it may flare up be my immune system when it's down, but are there any treatments I could use to help stop these random outbreaks? I use eczema cream, moisturizer, lip creams etc...
Avatar n tn I also have this and even though I am not totally sure what the exact cure is there are some things that help me. I like to rub green tea on my face, it makes my face tight and it smoothens it out. The redness doesn't go away but it calms down. I also stay away from hot foods. washing my face with body wash helps because it tightens my face which reduces the redness a little.
Avatar n tn My daughter is almost 12 months old. She started this rash on her forehead and some on her cheeks last two weeks. I first thought it was heat rash or that she was allergic to something. Now, the red rash have turn into dry skin on her face. It sound like it is eczema, but i'm not sure.
