Common Questions and Answers about Eczema around eyes in children

eczema

Avatar n tn Lately I have been getting dry skin, especially around my eyes. It's become inflammed and red underneath my eyebrows, and around to the outsides of my eyes. Whenever I put moisturizer on it, all it does is burn. I've tried multiple moisturizers, and nothing is working. I recently bought new acne medication, do you think I could be allergic to it? Or is it just because I need to drink more water or something like that?
Avatar n tn The redness also seems to stand, at times, in stark contrast to patchy, blanched areas of white around my eyes. The skin is smooth to the touch and not bumpy, just red with white patches. It's really annoying and causes me to be extremely self-conscious. Any idea?
Avatar f tn is there any product or treatment that you can recommend to reduce or lighten the "raccoon" appearance or "dark circles" around your eyes that African Americans and people of darker skin often get as they age? My are horrible! No amount of sleep or concealer seem to help. In the last two years it has gotten noticeably worse. Avatar f tn Someone posted a while back about having problems with the skin cracking around their eyes as if their tears were burning the skin - but I can't remember who that was. I'm posting this in case the following information might help that person or others who are having similar issues.
Avatar f tn He now has light cirles around his eyes and it looks as if he had on sunglasses. His Doctor suggested that I have him see a pediatric dermatologist. I am worried to death because the cirles have been getting lighter and we are protecting him from the sun. He does not rub them at home, but when I pick him up from school under his eyes sometimes look a little red. I am wondering if he has an allergy, eczema or could the light circles be Vitiligo?
Avatar f tn My 7 month son has eczema and has had a rattling in his breathing which gets worse at night for 4 weeks. The doctor has looked at him and says it's coming fro high up which means there's nothing wrong. However i'm worried it's asthma. My brother had it with eczema as a child so there's a family history. He's got an intolerance to cows milk so he only eats soya. He's had a permanent cold since he was about 2 weeks old.
Avatar m tn Ive been treated by previous dermatologist for eczema on my face around my eyes back of my ears and even on my body but they could never help with the marks around my mouth. A previous dermatologist gave me bleaching creame and pretty much told me that because my top lip is bigger than my botton lip I may have saliva coming out the sides of my mouth even though it doesnt feel like it causing a reaction. Ive done just about everything and used just about everything.
9770403 tn?1408461137 t think this is pregnancy mask - but I woke up with all these little red dots all around my eyes and tops of my cheeks. I was sick last night and coughing/throwing up rather hard. Anyone seen this before? I was thinking it may just be blood vessels but I'm not sure. : / They don't itch, just look obnoxious. I'm on the fence about calling the ob since it's not hurting anything that I can tell, just looks bad. Anyone seen this before?
Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms and pictures,it looks like nummular eczema(stubborn, itchy rash that forms coin-shaped patches on the skin.Found mainly in adults but can oocur in children also) , hives(red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known.
Avatar n tn For the past couple months I've noticed that my eyelids have been unusually dry and itchy - Now they are constantly peeling (both the upper and lower lid) and still very itchy and super red (it looks like I've been slugged in the eyes). I read online that I should do a warm compress and then scrub the skin with baby wash and then use aveeno, but that hasn't been working at all - I'm so embarrassed by it, I don't like going out..
Avatar n tn I did some Internet research on the cream and I read that using steroid creams on your eyelids and the skin around the eyes can cause ocular hypertension and glaucoma. Is it safe to use this cream around my eyes? If my eye pressure goes up, will it go back down once I stop using the cream? Thank you very much.
Avatar f tn Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications.
5519088 tn?1369145879 I am wary with using corticosteroid as it permanently thins the skin, and the area around the eyes is already thin. I have also tried Bacroban Cream (mild effect) and Ichthammol Ointment 20% (mild effect). What I believe started this is a multitude of things. For about a year I have been juicing as much as possible, and when juicing I skin a large aloe leave and after blending in the 'meat' I wipe the skin over my hair and skin as a kind of conditioner.
Avatar n tn so I brought her 2 different dermatologists, they both prescribed creams but none worked, they only made it worse! the skin around the eyes are now whiter than the rest of the face that I think is the result of the cream. It's still itchy, and I've been applying Vaseline to those areas but the problem doesn't go away. Any suggestions are welcome. Please and thank you.
Avatar m tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.
Avatar f tn It is verily well documented that children who grow up around smoking are much more likely to have/develop asthma at some point in their lives than those who have lower exposure levels to cigarette smoke. FYI - A sterile invironment is really bad if you want a strong immune system. A strong immune system means that your body knows how to make antibodies to fight pathogens. Your body "learns" to make antibodies only after exposure to a specific pathogen.
Avatar f tn The best results I have had so far is from the allergy specialist who said it was like eczema on my eyes but this only happens if I rub them then the eczema comes. I have been on every antihistamine tables, 4 different eye drops even eye drops to keep them moisture as I was told I had dry eyes two years ago but the last eye specialist did a test with paper and told me I did not have dry eyes.
Avatar f tn Aveeno is great for eczema. Bathe her in oatmeal I did that with my daughter and it helped. Her pediatrician also prescribed a steroid cream and that made it go away.
Avatar f tn I sat in my car and cried my eyes out. Finally my husband found this Aveno eczema thearpy cream at the store and it helped sooooo much. I highly recommend trying it. Also try not to stress because I think that's what triggered my flare up to begin with.
Avatar f tn We discovered that my son had cataracts at the age of 3 years, almost 4, in both eyes. We were never given a cause for the cataracts; noone could ever explain why he developed them nor how long he had them. The doctor is sure that he was not born with them. Now at the age of 7, he is struggling with focusing in school. Could the two be related?
Avatar f tn If I lift my gaze at anything other than the floor, I can feel the tension at the corners of my eyes. Wrinkles are starting to appear around the corner of my eyes and on my eyelids, just like on my neck. It's very uncomfortable. In the past couple weeks, the skin on my right glute has been getting dry too. It looks different from everywhere else - about three or four localized oval shapes of inflamed skin that are itchy and dry. Below those ovals, there is a red spotted rash.
Avatar m tn It mostly effects women and appear around the nose, mouth and eyes. Treatment consists of oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. A mild soap or soap substitute, such as Dove or Cetaphil should be used for washing. Scrubbing should be avoided. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn ve got an upcoming appointment with the allergist, but I really believe something else is going on (I also frequently develop hives around the puffy eyes). Most mornings I wake up with my eyes almost swollen shut. I now have a patch of eczema under one eye. I tried special products, control creams, cortisone (in small amounts-I have to be careful since it is around my eye), vaseline...the list goes on. If anyone has any ideas, I'd welcome them!
Avatar m tn Hey! It sounds like eczema. I have the exact same thing happening right now, and I found your post when I tried to read about it. I also get sneezy and itchy, watery eyes around pet fur too. Maybe they are somehow related?
1337810 tn?1333807530 If you feel that the eczema maybe allergy related, then suggest going to an Allergist for him to get tested so you know for sure. If he is allergic to a food type, then you would know what foods to feed him or not.
Avatar f tn She now also has reddness around her eyes which she says it painful (it looks like dry, taut skin). I thought at first it was an allergic reaction to something (we tried avoiding milk and sugar, that didn't seem to matter). At this point, I'm at a loss ~ the rash on her face looks almost like perioral dermatitis, but the rash on her arm does not. Does anyone have any ideas I can check into? Thanks in advance for your help.
