Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply. I had fna done on a supraclavicular lymph node that came back positive for ttf-1 .but they cannot diagnose me as yet as they cannot find primary. I get the whole lymph node taken out tomorrow. I was a little confused as to whether I do or don't have cancer.
Avatar f tn If there is Papillary thyroid cancer anywhere in the neck, outside the thyroid, the minimal surgery is total thyroid removal and central compartment dissection. The next issue is a careful ultrasound evaulation of the rest of the neck to determine if lateral neck dissection is needed. The rock-hard L lobe is very concerning as the possible "primary" tumor.
Avatar m tn On ultrasound was this a thyroid nodule or a lymph node? Do you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis (more common in T1DM)? Would review US endocrinologist to address these issues and consider having slides sent for another opinion. Also ask if testing for lymphoma (rare) is necessary). But 3.5cm is fairly large (however you mention 0.9cm as one dimension -- so this is almost like a "string bean" which may be a lymph node that is normal/reactive).
Avatar m tn LiVolsi also detected isolated psammoma bodies in that one lymph node, but concluded that it should be given an N1 classification. She mentioned that because psammoma bodies were present in that one node, it implied that cancer was present in that node at some point, and that meant lymph node metastasis. So, now I am still at stage 1, but now am T1 N1 MX. Dr. LiVolsi did not find extrathyroidal extension.
Avatar f tn I had an ultrasound of my enlarged submandibular lymph node, and I was wondering if they normally look at the thyroid as well. My lymph node is about an inch and three quarters, and is non tender. My CBC came back normal. I have not gotten the results of my ultrasound yet. But I do know that they did ultrasound my thyroid and pretty much my whole neck on both sides.
Avatar n tn To make a long story short, I went through testing and bouncing back between thyroid nodule and parathyroid adenoma only to determine it was a reactive lymph node. It is .75 cm in size and located posterior and inferior to the left side of the thyroid. The biopsy showed that the lymph node is reactive. Submental nodes appeared to be inflamed on a CT scan, but were only a few millimeters in size. Should I be worried? I was on a Z Pack for 5 days and it did not decrease in size at all.
Avatar f tn I remember all your posts since he has the same genotype as me. I developed swollen glands (lymph nodes) in my neck and groin area during treatment. My doc says it is normal but I had to look it up myself. I will share the information below. Before I do Id like to add that there was a thread a few months back on this same topic....swollen glands, in which many shared that they also had the same issue. Also, I am 3 months post treatment and the swollen glands have gone down except for one.
Avatar n tn It is hard to give feedback w/o seeing the pictures, but the lymph node looks potentially prominent. In general thyroid nodules have a 5-10% risk of cancer.
Avatar f tn Hi, a possibility goes like this: they grab a few cells by needle. They find individual cells that look odd, as if they are cancer. But when they next take out a whole section of tissue, the structure of the entire tissue doesn't look like cancer. Here's a rough analogy off the top of my head: let's say you cut the top off an orange and look at it. You can see that it's divided into sections. There are also pulpy parts and a central core. There are also some seeds.
7964397 tn?1395799383 I have a lymph node biopsy coming up and I am wondering, will any node in your body show lymphoma? I have had lymph node swelling from my ears to my waist for eight months but only on my right side. It varies in severity from day to day and isn't always in the same spots. I've also had a sharp pain around/under my ribs on the right side as well. A tumor was found on the left lobe of my thyroid and despite its removal, my symptoms continue.
Avatar m tn The swelling could be a lymph node. It could also be a sebaceous cyst, a boil or an insect bite. Lymph node enlargement is usually due to infections like bacterial and viral. Treatment is usually with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. So, consult your primary care physician for proper clinical assessment. In the meantime for pain relief you can use OTC Tylenol (acetaminophen). Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Hi Gracevd70, I wanted to answer your question earlier, but I have no idea if that is something to worry about or not. I just don't know enough about calcification in lymph nodes or what that might mean. Did you have RAI treatment after your thyroidectomy? I think getting the lymph nodes checked out, and especially if you are having neck pain and swollen tonsils is a good idea. Do you have Hashimoto's?
397090 tn?1240497812 I would suggest a FNAC and biopsy of the swollen lymph node to confirm the diagnosis.Treatment depends on the same. I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted.
Avatar f tn A lymph node feels a little like a pea (big or small one) under the skin. It kind of moves if you move it. It's usually painless. Infection can bring it on but even just stress can. So, you had a partial thyroid removal. then yes, it can grow back. I think I'd check in with your doctor. Let me know what they say, okay? Oh, and we have an excellent thyroid forum here! https://www.medhelp.org/forums/Thyroid-Disorders/show/73 They really are helpful on that forum too.
4851983 tn?1483079662 A swollen lymph node in your neck might be a sign of a thyroid nodule. Usually an ultrasound helps verify the presence of a thyroid nodule, however, it cannot be determined if it is benign or cancerous. A Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNA) is the ultimate test to diagnose a malignant nodule. Please discuss this with your treating doctor.
20828489 tn?1526142384 s fighting off an infection) or malignant is to biopsy the lymph node. That said, radiologists as well as clinicians see lymph nodes day in and day out. After a while, we get a sense of which lymph nodes are worrisome and which are not. On CT scans, we seldom get excited about lymph nodes less than 1 cm.
Avatar n tn Thyroid tissue in a lymph node, usually means spread of thyroid cancer to that lymph node. If this is hurthle cell cancer, it is usually more aggressive than papillary, but the staging system is the same. It depends on age, cancer size, which lymph nodes were involved and spread outside the neck. Would discuss this with your endocrinologist to learn the details/staging and treatment plan for your case. Usually I-131 (radioactive iodine) is used.
Avatar m tn When you say he ordered a sonogram on your thyroid, I'm assuming you mean of the area your thyroid used to be? I'm not sure what it means when a node is vascular and has no fatty center. Was this the reason you are having a biopsy? What did your doctor say?
Avatar n tn I have also had enlarged lymph nodes which promoted a lymph node removal in 2007. Now more enlarged lymph nodes and full feeling in my neck with big swings n TSH. I asked for T3 and T4 as well as TSH and then every thing came back "normal" although those were just 3 tests and I wasn't sure exactly what they were. My ENT ordered a biopsy of the nodes. During the ultrasound the doc noted my right thyroid lobe was thin which she said was from being on meds for so long.
Avatar m tn i asked my doc if lymph node related to thyroid , he told me no. and he advise me to do viral profile test. Hepatitis + Herpes+ TB+ CBC+ Lpid profile + monospot + mono.... and radio scan for thyroid but the result after 3 days. I was afraid it could be HIV or STDs cause the last and the only sex intercourse protected was 3 months before. I did in STDs clinic 3months hiv anti bodies test (MEIA) and Hepatitis C&B +ghonorea+herpes and syphlis and other stds. All came NEGATIVE.
Avatar f tn My question is - could the lymph node be related to my thyroid problems? This is the second time I had an enlarged lymph node on my neck in the last year (the last time it was on the side of my neck). I've done an ultrasound of my thyroid the doctor said I didn't have any nodules but that I do have hypo echoic fields but didn't say that anything is particularly wrong. My TPO are 443.8 U/ml now (they were 1000 in May); my TSH is 1.03 nmol/L and FT3 4.0 pmol/L and FT4 19.5 pmol/L.
