535822 tn?1443976780 Thank you for your input I was wondering what a days diet would be , I have got a good book and am reading up, I think I have been eating too many carbs and not enough protein. On Wed I am having the test s A1c so I will know more .I would like to be able to live with it as it is and not become diabetic, my Mom had a struggle for many years ...
Avatar n tn I have just read a book on fasting and using a ketogenic diet for weight loss and diabetes reversal. I am trying it now and am finding it very easy to implement. There are various fasts you can do. I am sure you can find one or two ways to work for you. You should get this book! I have tried all of the diets in my 63 yrs of life and none have given lasting results. I feel like this way is going to be much easier to do than those I have tried in the past.
Avatar n tn I am really struggling with eating well. I tend to crave sweets constantly and am looking for ways to help with that.
Avatar n tn Look up "the full plate diet" it's really NOT a diet, but healthy eating. That's what I do, all it is, is a high fiber diet eating lots of whole grains (brown rice, wheat bread, oatmeal) fruits, vegetables and water.
420566 tn?1321838556 Thanks, this is a good diet to go by... My RE actually puts his patients on this diet! You will will see impressive results! Its not easy, but worth it!!! But whats good about the diet is you can eat anything else without having to limit portion size.... Also bananas and yogurt have a lot of sugars that aren't good for insulin resistance!
Avatar n tn There are diabetic education classes all around and scads of book and just try Googling "diabetes diet" for something sensible like a day or two of meal plans. The big thing is carbohydrate counting so get a carb book. If he takes Humalog insulin, dose would be 1 unit per 10 grams carb. If not, you must watch the simple sugars carefully. Small amounts of fruit are okay and larger amounts can be tolerated after eating protein.
Avatar f tn I have tried replacing junk food with raw veggies and fruits, but eating just seems to lead to more eating (eventually junk food). Any suggestions?
492936 tn?1244651570 It is basically a balanced diet eating good fats and such. The most interesting thing to me was about the whole milk. Apparently hormones are in milk. Estrogen is in the fat - testosterone in the skim part. Drinking skim instead of whole gives you more testosterone and we women need estrogen for a healthy pregnancy - that is why you should eat whole milk, regular ice cream etc. Other than the milk part I didn't get much from it.
976897 tn?1379167602 oh and forgot to mention, that since this new starch diet, my triglycerides have raised well above desired levels. It seems I can have low LDL or trigs but never both.
Avatar n tn This happens due to excess amino acids in sweat (which are breakdown products of protein), seen common with a high protein diet. Also if the diet is rich in cheese, then bacteria of staphylococcus type acts on the sweat and causes this smell of vinegar. Hence to avoid this smell you would need to carefully look at your daughter's diet and lower the protein and cheese content in it.
Avatar f tn Well.. Today is my last day of eating the usual (time for my diet restrictions again..) With i digested food comes other functions..i chose no treatment So I will simply moderate the simple basics (odor..watery texture..etc) .. Closer to the last days.. I’m looking at the sky..
616450 tn?1228433627 Folks, I talked to my endocrinologist about the way certain foods seem to affect my thyroid. She said nothing I eat can help or hurt my thyroid, but I could swear I feel it almost HURT about a half hour after I eat a lot of dairy. Also, if I eat something like Sun Chips--or any thing else with a lot of enriched wheat flour, etc.--I feel it as well along with a "pumped up" feeling. I read some about it online, but the endo claims it doesn't have much to do with my diet.
Avatar f tn t comment on this particular book, but, while I believe a healthy diet is good for anyone, people both with and without MS, I don't believe that eating properly can eliminate the symptoms of MS. It may be a good book, I don't know, just don't expect miracles regarding MS symptoms. Who knows....maybe there's a recipe that makes tofu taste good...
Avatar f tn Keep up your efforts for healthy eating. Particularly focus on eating lower carb foods / veges / meats / nuts etc. Lower carb / higher fat diet is now being shown to be more effective and sustainable for many people with diabetes than the traditional higher carb approach. If you are looking for information on this you could look at the maintenanbce phase of the Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet (this is mediteranean style eating - but without the bread and pasta), or Diabetes Solutions - Dr.
Avatar f tn I received/read all these books from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Lending Library. I find their system works quite well and consider it a treat to find another requested book in my mailbox. Each review will start with the title and author and then a short summary of my thoughts. Facing the Cognitive Challenges of MS by Jeffery N. Gingold : This book is excellent! I wasnt certain what to expect as I had not really thought through the cognitive issues of MS. Until I read this book.
Avatar m tn There is no MS diet. You have to take this stuff with a grain of salt. That said my own philosophy is if I have MS I can not afford a poor diet. I eat a very balanced diet where I cut out processed food. I have worked hard to lose weight although I still need to lose more. I figure I can't carry extra pounds if I have trouble walking. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, lean meat, fish. All my blood work is perfect even high vitamin D from my diet.
Male What food can you eat on a GF diet? Does anyone know of a good reference book for this kind of diet? Anyone have any tested recipes that are good? Can anyone give me some encouragement that this is something I can do and survive through the change? Thanks for any guidance you can give me.
687561 tn?1238400426 I read a great book about it called, The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose... she is a nutritionist. Anyways everything is about detoxing your whole body from waste products... cleaning out your cells and your whole system. Your main foods should really be fruit, vegetables, grains and nuts... and raw. It's really good for me because I can't even force myself to eat all the meat and bread and all the cooked foods anyway!
1661682 tn?1313135396 Eating healthy is truly what is best for your baby. Just be sure you are eating enough and not depriving yourself or your baby of anything important while trying not to gain weight. Just eat lots of fruits and veggies and cut back on the junk. I also enjoyed taking walks while pregnant and it helped me keep my weight down with both of my pregnancies!
29837 tn?1414534648 Checked out from the library this book "Liver Cleansing Diet", by Dr. Sandra Cabot. I think it's worth reading as many of the things she writes about are beneficial to cleansing the liver. Makes sense to me because she's not trying to sell anything, but rather giving good, worthy advice on taking care of your liver. She writes about eating right, the specific fat free diet, supplements and so on... So there it is...
362249 tn?1441315018 i also have been eating mostly organic/hormone free as well the past 4 months.. its not as cheap, but its hopefully worth it! good luck!
