1752720 tn?1322231098 Suddenly all I can think about today are potatoes. Scalloped potatoes. Potatoes au gratin. Pommes Anna. I want them ALL! Is anyone else craving anything odd?
415684 tn?1257329318 Very interesting! I searched online after reading and found out on the potatoes, it was a study done on pigs on the starch of the potatoes...however it was RAW potatoes (humans don't eat them raw). When cooked, the starch we eat passes the small intestine (where the raw potatoes starch gets used differently) where it ferments. They mentioned something about cold cooked potatoes...no idea about that!
Avatar f tn First, you IBS is probably not tied to these foods. Also, not to be a nit-picker, but corn is a grain, not a vegetable, and zucchini is a fruit, also not a vegetable. The importance of this is in both your IBS and the nutrients you might not be getting by not eating true vegetables. Corn can be a troublesome food for many, as it's a common allergen and also contains a lot of sugar. Carrots are great cooked and raw -- cooked they have more carotenoids, raw more fiber.
Avatar f tn Can you not just eat healthy balanced meals around 1000-1200 calories and do HCG and lose the weight? I have ben on every diet known to man and am 51 years old. I know I have damaged my metabolism. I don't believe in eating less than the calories I listed above. So would it be possible to eat healthy, no fried foods, white flour or white pastas, no sugars.
Avatar f tn I heard that by eating potatoes (which are rich in potassium) and also limiting your salt intake will help. Hope that's helpful!

Avatar n tn love potatoes, and have heard of that book. Always good info, especially the part about eating carbs after the protein, helps the digestion process greatly! If you notice, say, you eat a steak and a baked potato together, do you get intestinal problems? I always do and its because you should eat protein and carbs seperately.
Avatar f tn I've been wanting crab legs so bad! But I've been eating more raw veggies and fruit. My one vice is those sweet chewy sweet tart minis. I love them.
Avatar f tn Not to be picky, but avocadoes are fruits, not vegetables. Broccoli isn't very digestible in raw form -- it's healthier cooked unless you're breaking down the tough fibers by juicing or culturing. This is generally true with vegetables in the cabbage family in general, such as kale and collards. I know, raw broccoli used to be a fad and now raw kale is, but fads aren't facts. Raw kale is very hard to digest.
Avatar m tn Depends on which meals you are eating. If you're eating breakfast and lunch, but little in the evening, it might work. But as sechmeth said, it also depends on WHAT you're eating and the amounts. If you cut calories too much, your body will go into starvation mode; however, you have to cut calories a little bit (usually, by around 500/day) in order to lose weight.
Avatar m tn I'm 19 and I've had HS (never talked to my doctor about it, but I assume open/recurring abscesses in your armpits is not normal and counts as HS) for about 3 years now. I had a stomach bug a week and a half ago and barely ate a thing for a few days. When I did eat it was fruit or chicken broth/vegetables. The HS instantly cleared up for several days after that. It was almost completely healed. Now that I'm eating my normal diet, it's back with a vengeance.
Avatar f tn I can't stand eating chicken with bones in it Smh it makes me so nauseous, and although it's cooked it always tastes raw smh
Avatar f tn Hello I am a person who has suffered for at least 3 - 4 years with diverticulitis with on set of problems relating to my being extremely bloating, constipated you name it, and the PAIN unbearable at times. Yet I have tried everything Fiber in my diet, changing my eating habits, eating smaller amounts so I wouldn't feel as bloated or constipated. What can be done? 9743757 tn?1405617465 I do restrict myself to certain foods for example I wont eat raw fish or deli meats that haven't been heated or anything that isnt pasturized
Avatar m tn I have a male cat about 5 years old, and he's constantly licking certain areas until they are raw and then he would stop with that area and move on to another and do the same thing. The original area would heal because he was focused on a new area. He has an area around his front paw and shoulder that he has licked raw and it's lumpy and sometimes he'll let it get crusty and then go back to it. But he's now started an new area and is still going back to the old one.
