Avatar n tn - and I have constantly been trying to stop my baby of four months staring a light bulbs in our house ~(some shades show bulb underneath) since birth. Everyone keeps telling me his is ridiculous. My bulbs are equivalent to 75 Watts but are energy savers. However he loves to stare at them a any given moment. Is it possible that these are unsafe to developing eyes?
334776 tn?1249968581 I have those light bulbs aswell. Infact every lamp/fan or lit area in my house I have one. They have never caused me any migraines or issues actually. And the ones I have now are about a year old and have yet to go out, by now DH and I would have spent a butt load of moolah changing bulbs if we used the regular ones. And FYI but most if not all light bulbs have mercury in them, some have more than others, some don't.
Avatar n tn Remember mercury does not only come from eating fish, it also comes from dental fillings, batteries, vaccines, light bulbs and living near power plants and can also be passed down from your mother.
2943022 tn?1340036282 She was told to replace the light bulbs in her house. Seems that certain bulbs can contain just enough rays( normally the ones that give the effect of having sunlight in your home)...just as exposure to sunlight through windows may cause a reaction in some people with photosensitivity. Perhaps check to see what kind of lights you have, and stay away from the windows...as UVA CAN penetrate glass...whereas UVB does not.
Avatar f tn html 6/27/11 Senior Republicans have provoked the fury of green campaigners after they vowed to repeal a law on energy-saving light bulbs because they believe it breaches human rights. The 2007 law, which is set from January to introduce across the board energy efficiency standards for light bulbs, is being contested by more than a dozen right-wing politicians, including Tea Party Presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann.
Avatar n tn We got rid of the air purifiers and he seems to be doing lots better, We recently changed most all incandescent light bulbs in our house to CFL light bulbs. I recently became aware that those type bulbs give off negative ions at a much higher level than regular bulbs. My wife has been sick for months with sinus, bronchitis and pneumonia. I am beginning to think negative ion emission may be a factor.
168348 tn?1379357075 Now that they are done blooming as indoor flowers in their original container, how and what do I do with them to be able to plant them as bulbs to bloom next year. I am clueless. Anybody have any ideas ... as of today, all the petals have fallen off.
Avatar m tn When I first noticed this I looked up at TWO different types of light bulbs, both bright as hell in the ceiling, but were different bulbs - yet one had a rainbow around it? I didn't think twice of it but last night I saw a rainbow halo around a specific light bulb in my friend's house who knows I freak about this stuff and my two friends just smiled and said ''don't worry we see it too''. P.s were all 20.
Avatar m tn Hi. I've been researching Flourescent light sensitivity for awhile now and am currently going through tests due to same symptoms that you are experiencing. I've had an MRI, MRA, blood work and now Ultrasound on my carotid arteries to see if its caused from plaque buildup (since doctors can't find anything). The only thing that I have linked it all too is the new flourescent lighting at my job.
Avatar f tn In March 2008 i developed photosensitivity to fluorescent lighting but have no problems with sunshine or daylight bulbs. I am currently in an employment court case with my employers over reasonable adjustments. I previously worked in a large office where we had daylight bulbs in place, but had to move to another office without daylights and soon became ill.
Avatar m tn As I hope you know white light is made up of the full color spectrum and anything (glasses, contacts, human cornea, rain, atmosphere, mirror, prism, light-bulbs, etc) can diffract the light such that we see colors. Since multiple people saw it no need to consider intrinsic eye disease and pass it off to diffraction of light. Why some lights and not others? Multiple variables including ambient light, nature of light source, angle and material the bulb and fixtures are made of.
Avatar f tn Maybe I can research the blue light later, but full spectrum is not glaring like yellow incandescent (usual bulbs), and it makes the surroundings appear more beautiful--like sunlight. I have heard it recommended for eye problems, also, but I have not researched it.
Avatar m tn For last few months I am seeing halos around light sources. The halos are whitish with a pale brick red coloration. at the fringe.Size of the halo is sensitive to lumen power of the light source as well as its distance. It is particularly disturbing while driving. Another noticeable feature is it is less with conventional filament based bulbs as compared to CFL lamps. I am non-diabetic Cardiac patient. Had MCI and subsequent CABG surgery in Jan 2006.
Avatar m tn Hi, When I go outside and its sunny after some minutes I start seeing bright spots on the center of my vision, like the afterimage of small bulbs, they are always in the same position and all of them in the center, in the worst case I get around 13 and they cover most of the center of my vision to the point I cant read the street signs. They go away some minutes after I go into a place with less light but if I don't then they last a lot.
Avatar f tn m not sure why, because I know most use the same light bulbs, but other stores are definitely not okay. The big warehouse stores are miserable. I always associated the problem with the fact that I have a migraine disorder. Certain conditions, like flashing lights will trigger them immediately and will have a similar effect as the fluorescent lights. The same types of things that happen to epileptics' brains are actually the same things that happen with migraine patients.
Avatar n tn Whenever I m looking to light sources or light bulbs or other vehicle headlights on night, it seems me scattered, why is that?is that due to floaters in my eyes, because i have already floaters in my eyes.will floaters in eyes make light bulb scattered?
535822 tn?1443976780 We are all being told to use the new light bulbs ,Europe is trying to get them banned, they contain mercury and when broken they let mercury into the air which does not clear for hours, Do not use them .they are trying to do this under their climate change fiasco .England will not allow them to be sent in the mail because it is too much of a hazard ,they are cheaper to use but they are a danger .
365714 tn?1292199108 To Lizz67 - A light box would be a good investment, I have special bulbs in my standard lamps, the daylight bulbs - I did this last year and I have to say that my mood wasn't as low as usual, it may have been the bulbs, or a combination of things. I hate the rain.
Avatar f tn What you are describing now has an "official" name, but it refers more to depression than anxiety. It's call SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder. When the days grow shorter, the nights longer and there is less sunshine, people with depression often feel worse. I suppose it could affect your anxiety level since depression and anxiety often go hand in hand, but that is just a guess. If this is affecting your daily life, I would certainly speak to my doctor about it.
Avatar m tn Are these the light bulbs that are in our makeup mirrors that we look into very close on a daily basis , sometimes several times a day? I had an ERM show up (scar tissue on the retina) after 50 + years of 20/20 vision and no other health issues. I am now wondering if this makeup mirror light bulb may have had something to do with it ? Also have IS/OS junction interruption in the photoreceptor area...coincidence, or light bulb???
Avatar m tn Also, stay out of the heat, bright light bulbs, cover your self with a light shirt and pants.... a hat but you do not need to get heated like sweating.... Also, taking, comfortably cool showers, not hot or cold, will help but wash with the CeraVe to rehydrate your skin.... Also, buy a water purifier for your tap water...
1902985 tn?1321665824 Oh, check out if you are having more trouble in natural light, regular light bulbs or flourescent light. Flourescent light really bothers a lot of people...makes me sick right away!
1582078 tn?1364833548 My eyes are constantly inflamed at evening and night time especially when under light bulbs or around computer screens. May it be a case where bacteria got into the vitreous and causes my eyelids (the skin covering my eyes) to be in flames whenever exposed to light bulbes? Is it more likely a case of optic neuritis? If more info is needed for you to answer these questions feel free to ask me.
Avatar f tn Individuals who present with pica have been reported to mouth and/or ingest a wide variety of nonfood substances, including, but not limited to, clay, dirt, sand, stones, pebbles, hair, feces, lead, laundry starch, vinyl gloves, plastic, pencil erasers, ice, fingernails, paper, paint chips, coal, chalk, wood, plaster, light bulbs, needles, string, cigarette butts, wire, and burnt matches.......
4943237 tn?1428991095 Yes, I actually had to have two out of three of the florescent bulbs from the lights in my office at work removed so that I had less light in my office. I also sometimes wear sunglasses inside and just had Rx Sunglasses ordered.
Avatar f tn Hypothyroidism can certainly add to your sleep issues. That should improve with treatment. Also it is winter and less sunlight can make you sleepy. That is a normal mammal reaction. It can also cause depression in some which can lead to the desire to sleep more. Check out seasonal affective disorder (SAD). You might try increasing the lighting around you...perhaps even buying some light bulbs that have more of the same light spectrum as sunlight. Regular bulbs and florescent bulbs don't.
