Common Questions and Answers about Eating for life book

eating

Avatar f tn I was considering buying a copy of your book (?the one about emotional eating) for my mother for Xmas. Then I thought I was behaving a little impulsively. It is not always about the book, but about how we apply that information to our lives. I was wondering how this would be any different to me buying her other books such as Atkins, Dr Phil (which I have done in the past). I am afraid that I am just repeating a cycle. What are your thoughts on this.
671132 tn?1335247006 free yourself from emotional eating forever. His name was Dr Roger Gould. I think that he was strong on focussing on the current reality. This helped me heaps on my ocd which has become manageable. He has several websites you may be interested in visiting. shrinkyourself.com (free subscription and he asks questions in his newsletters which you can work through yourself. It doesn't just apply to food or emotional eating.) myvirtualshrink.com. cdt for depression and anxiety.

Avatar f tn I have tried replacing junk food with raw veggies and fruits, but eating just seems to lead to more eating (eventually junk food). Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn For the past 2 months my life has been a constant nightmare. Ever since I had a trigger that caused me to think I was a lesbian everything changed. I hate these unwanted thoughts that make me naseous, I hate thinking I'll never marry a man, I'm just so tired. I kept getting thoughts of ending my life because of this. I can't even look at a female without checking if I'm aroused. This obession was replaced by the thought of being a transexual for a week, then went away.
Avatar f tn I'm a 55 Y/O female who has been binge eating for about 20 years. I've been to every kind of therapy, even went to a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders, gave me an RX ( don't remember the name) I've gained and lost 50LBS 3 times, this time I gained 60LBS and can't loose the last 25. I can't control my eating no matter what I do. I've also been to OA and I didn't like it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Avatar n tn t already. Also, get him the book, The Body Ecology Diet, by Donna Gates. Forget the chapter about eating for your blood type. Some people believe this theory. It's ****. Ignore it. But the rest of the book take very seriously, o.k? As you have already been told, he needs to be on a good probiotic. The best one that I know of is Primal Defense Ultra by Garden of Life. Get the capsules.
635835 tn?1272539383 I suspect having that niche (young folks with chronic illnesses) helped for selling the book to publishers, although I haven't asked Laurie about that. Plus it's where she is/was at the time, so I can understand her focus. But I totally agree with you, and when I reviewed it on my blog and on Amazon back when it came out, I emphasized that too!
635835 tn?1272539383 Thanks for the excerpts from the book. The author makes some very good points. Please continue to share pertinent points from the book with us!
Avatar n tn First time mom to be here currently at 5 wks... I tried googling this question, needless to say I didn't get very far. Can anyone provide a website or book with recipes for expectant mothers? As I said I tried google but only found what foods moms to be should eat. Thanks in advance!!
547836 tn?1302832832 I was never a reader as a child. But recently I've been keeping my mind off many frustrations in life by engaging in reading. What we choose to read really does make a difference. I would like to know if anyone has any great book recommendations to share? We can all benefit from reading, and it's practically free if you have a library near you.
Avatar f tn One of our pit bulls ate my mother's paperback book that she was reading, when I was a teenager. No problem for him. We never even thought about taking him to the vet. My mother was just mad.
401786 tn?1309152034 I told y'all I have a book called The Book of Questions when Nauty posted a question about saving a family member from drowning...well, I have it in front of me and thought I'd shoot one or two out there. I randomly chose the questions btw.... Question #3: If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone? Why haven't you told them yet?
1530658 tn?1299766324 I am reading a book called "Making Babies" and it is changing my life! It is a 3 month natural fertility program and the information in there will knock your socks off. I know so much more than I used to and I realized I don't even have a diagnosis!!!!! "Unexplained Infertility" is not ok!!! It is a copout! An easy way for the Doc's to get us to spend more money! READ THIS BOOK!!! http://www.amazon.
1017452 tn?1254904998 Brilliant! I'll look these up. I want to start reading them too... I'm finding out so much about the world of addiction through this site. Just wished I'd found it earlier on!
Avatar f tn What books do you guys recommend for the newly diagnosed? I can't figure out from the reviews.
Avatar f tn Its very frustrating to find that book too Eating for Gastro. I would like to get that link for where you found the publishing release on 11/11/08....
509879 tn?1259338951 Hi all, I belong to another TTC Over 40 group, much like this one (confusing going back and forth--wish there were a way to combine both groups), and a woman there recently posted that she is 43 and just learned she has high FSH levels. She wanted to know if there's ANY hope that she could have her own bio child. I'm reposting my response here, which includes several reviews of Julia Indichova's book Inconceivable. I find the reviews inspiring and thought some of you might as well.
Avatar f tn t comment on this particular book, but, while I believe a healthy diet is good for anyone, people both with and without MS, I don't believe that eating properly can eliminate the symptoms of MS. It may be a good book, I don't know, just don't expect miracles regarding MS symptoms. Who knows....maybe there's a recipe that makes tofu taste good...
Avatar m tn This is simplified pranayam for everyone and you do not have to go to classes to learn. This is for life unlike short term classes where you do it in the class then stop when classes are over. The pranayam should be continued once a day at the minimum timing(about 45 minutes total) for rest of life to stay in remission.
Avatar f tn Distractions!! Go for a walk, read a book, watch your favorite show but get out of the kitchen! If you're hungry drink a large glass of water. Do something to really engage your mind so you're not thinking about food. :) hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Fasting is not for weight loss. It's for a lot of things, mostly spiritual or for cleaning out the system once in awhile, but is not a good way for lasting weight loss. A "diet" is by definition not a way to lose weight permanently. A permanent change in diet is. I have nothing against fasting, just using it for weight loss.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your comment! I have scrutinized every weight loss quick fix out there as part of my research for The Flex Diet - and I don't believe eating honey is a great solution. Jaquta makes some great points about small changes in diet, activity, and lifestyle. Think about it in the longer term. Take care!
