Avatar n tn I'm not sure if i have an eating disorder or not. I don't have everything that someone with anorexia or bulima would have but my eating is atrocious as my friends put it and they keep saying i have an ED but didn't think i did till i just saw something on EDNOS. Recently I've lost almost a stone fairly quickly but am about the same now but a big part of me really wants to loose more. I still eat but friend think i don't.
Avatar f tn In fact, it is quite common for those who struggle with eating disorders to engage in different eating disorder behaviors. You would need to meet with an eating disorder specialist for a full assessment to get an accurate diagnosis. I strongly encourage you to meet with a mental health professional that is trained in eating disorders for a consultation. They can do a full assessment and recommend the appropriate level of care.
Avatar f tn You could seek out an eating disorder specialist in your area and have an evaluation. In addition, to learn more about eating disorders and to take an eating disorder survey, you could visit the bella vita website.
877379 tn?1259664623 I am seeing a therapist but she is not trained in treating eating disorders (but I would not leave her because she is an amazing therapist). Does anyone think a treatment facility would be a good idea for me? I personally feel I am too fat to be in one and if I asked to be admitted to one, people would laugh in my face. My therapist believes I have EDNOS since I go between almost every eating disorder behavior (restricting, binging & purging, laxative abuse, etc.
Avatar f tn I would say this sounds like you are in the beginnings of an eating disorder, especially if you are starting to worry about it (by posting here) I too got feelings about if my relationship with food but ignored them, wanting to get to a certain weight..I'd say stop now and get professional help.Listen to any alarm bells. This sounds like it runs deeper than weight, which you might not be able to work out right now but by seeking professional help will help you to adress.
785277 tn?1244324809 No, I mean I am just a little confused maybe. So you are asking how to stick with one disorder right? That seems a little anti-recovery and I just wouldn't want to hinder your recovery, or help your eating disorder get worse. What I can say is that nobody's eating disorders are alike. Everybody seems to have different behaviors, and it's not like everybody just picks one or the other and sticks with it. My suggestion would be to maybe channel this in another direction.
762882 tn?1234493890 There is not just one or two types of eating disorders. I mean, in school or whatever they might teach that there are two/three MAIN types of eating disorders...anorexia, bulimia, coe, but really there are sooo many different types and nobody's habits are EXACTLY alike. I am not a doctor, though one day I hope to be =) but I would say you would be diagnosed EDNOS if you say you aren't considered anorexic purging subtype, or I guess you could possibly be bulimarexic.
Avatar f tn Anorexia nervosa, as well as other eating disorders, cause EXTREME damage to all of your major organs. Eating disorders leave nothing untouched, when it comes to the severe damage they can do. I will list off some of the COMMON complications of eating disorders for you. Psychiatric complications from anorexia, bulimia and ED-NOS: (Most of these can occur before or after the onset of the eating disorder.
Avatar n tn Craving for excess salt or eating excess of it comes under an eating disorder called Eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS). Salt cravings and drop in blood pressure is often due to adrenal gland problems, usually exhaustion of adrenal gland. Often this is due to high stress life. Please consult an endocrine specialist and get tests related to adrenal gland done, which may include ACTH and free and total cortisol. Withdrawing salt can cause physical symptoms such as chest pain.
4173096 tn?1350669677 There should be a category for people suffering from eating disorders.
Avatar f tn If you have eating behavior not clearly defined as anorexia or bulimia, its called Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified or EDNOS. I want to tell you that you are a very strong person to recognize this and that you want to change it. That is the first step. I'm not a professional, but I think you would benefit from talking to someone who can help you understand your habits and feelings of the loss of control.
Avatar f tn It must also mean that the concern is overwhelming and you feel lost. I am 25 years old, and I have Anorexia along with EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). So please, give yourself permission to thank yourself for being so strong. Anorexia isn't diagnosed because of a very low number on a scale. There are so many other factors that contribute. I felt that no one would take me seriously when I was a particular number on the scale.
Avatar f tn Are eating disorders on record at all as being communicable? As someone who has been suffering with one for over 15 years now, I would like to propose that they are.
Avatar n tn I am 22 with both Anorexia and EDNOS. I stand 5"6, weight 115lbs, and as of yesterday my bp was 114/69 with a heart rate of 119 per minute. is this normal? I dont know much about blood pressure. All i know is that my eating has slipped and im in a early stages of a relapse. I feel tired all the time and spend most of my time sleeping.
