Avatar n tn t know but anorexia and eating disorder are linked to depression, because of a low weight and your brain not functioning correctly. Its good that your wanting to gain weight though, its a promising sign. And just so long as you don't gain weight then try to keep it off and fast to compensate then perhaps not. Ask a friend your age and height to take an honest diary of what they eat in a normal week. See if you eat the same amount, if not then try to eat the same amount.
Avatar f tn You need to consult a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders. Also depression would need to be treated side by side. Please consult your parents, maybe your school or college therapist and some else whom you can trust and who can talk to your parents. Please try and see a therapist as soon as possible. Just remember, though you feel as though you will not get over it, you will soon be able to follow a diet and exercise program that will help you eat and lose weight. Take care!
Avatar f tn I suffer from binge eating disorder, I assuming its due to depression/loneliness. I can't afford therapy so wanted to know if anyone else who has suffered this has had any success with over coming it?

Avatar f tn Let me just list a number of signs that make a person susceptible to an eating disorder or disordered eating (some of the following symptoms to a lessor degree and not as debilitating). They are as follows: weight loss from an illness; some kind of loss; depression, anxiety, abuse, poor body image, skipping meals; protecting one’s eating disorder behaviors (i.e.
Avatar f tn well i've already been diagnosed with an eating disorder...or disordered eating...and im seeing a therapist, just started with a new one. thanks for the tips though.
Avatar f tn A loved one realised I had a problem so I went to my GP and she diagnosed me with moderate depression that had brought about an eating disorder. Over the past month I have been on Sertraline and although it improved my overall mood the need to eat food to make me feel good did not subside, and the binge eating and vomiting has continued. I have now been switched to Prozac but have not taken any for fear of the side effects I have read about.
Avatar n tn m such a mess today. When we met I had a severe eating disorder that he helped me get through. So for him to call me fat really hurts and has me falling into my old thought process. I feel pathetic today.
Avatar n tn Stress can easily precipatate eating disorder symptoms. Even though you do not know how to classify your eating disorder at this time, it is not necessary. Since you are in college, I would recommend that you go to the college health center to check on your physical concerns and seek counseling from the school's counseling department. Since eating disorders can be as high as 20% on college campuses, many colleges have specialists in eating disorders. Eating disorders are quite complex.
Avatar f tn I'm no expert but I am 15 and I have anxiety and an eating disorder. If your daughter is wise it's easy hiding having an eating disorder. Depression aides the eating disorder (or just makes her feel like not eating). Her trying hard to get protein also goes into having an eting disorder so she can think straight and isnt dizzy all the time...also cutting out meat. It could be medical and an ED, but I'm betting she has one...
4318523 tn?1352726701 Weight requirements are used in diagnosing anorexia, but not bulimia, binge eating disorder or other eating disorders. You may want to visit the bella vita website and take our free online eating disorder survey. And while you are there read about bulimia and eating disorder NOS. Wishing you a wonderful 2013!
Avatar f tn Dear Snoopy, In order to determine whether you have an eating disorder or not, I would advise you to have a comprehensive evaluation by an eating disorder specialist. The three vegetative signs of depression are sleep disturbance, change in appetite (for you a decrease in appetite) and decrease interest in previously enjoyed activities.
Avatar m tn The only problem is that Wellbutrin should not be taken when one has an eating disorder... I am not quite sure what this means. Are they referring to people with active eating disorders who are in a compromised medical state and more prone to seizing, or will anyone who has ever had an eating disorder be denied this med? I am not asking for Wellbutrin because of the weight loss side effects- 100% honest!!- but instead for its apparent success rate.
Avatar n tn I too have suffered from an eating disorder (buliminia) for a good four years, ending in 2006. Yes the disorder is now dormant, I do not throw up after every meal. What a great change. I am writing this to you to let you know that someday you may recover from your ED. I truly wanted to make a change, I was losing alot of my top teeth due to acid from vomiting. At the time I was vomiting I didnt care one iota about my teeth. They were in my mouth and doing just fine.
Avatar f tn I lost connection to this site unfortunately never read any of those response thanks for being consistent and still replying. They only diagnosed her with eating disorder and started meds two months ago.
Avatar f tn I believe that I may be on my way to an eating disorder. I am 34 years old, 5'3" and I weigh 107. I am very petite and always have been. I haven't truely ever worked out, I've just been very very lucky. Even after having two kids, I lost all the weight without doing much. From as far back as I can remember I have always had problems eating if I was overly stressed or emotional about something. During those times, I will not eat.

1246367 tn?1271225330 They are about more than just food. Whatever was going on underneath that was fueling your eating disorder is still there. You might want to consider some support in the form of counseling from a therapist experienced with eating disorders. OA is also a good source of support and learning and working the steps with a sponsor. It's hard to do this alone.
Avatar f tn Being fearful of gaining weight and continually working to keep your weight at an unnatural low is indeed the sign you may have an eating disorder. Nobody can diagnose you online but I assume you are posting because you suspect that is what is going on. But you are ahead of the game because you recognize it is not healthy! I encourage you to get some help. It may not be something you can just figure your way out of.
1564404 tn?1295154236 You definitely have an eating disorder. There is something called non specific, where you niether fit exactly into a catergory.Purging is not good for you ,EVER. NO matter how often , its so bad for your body and teeth. I have suffered from bulimia and I know its a struggle. MY advice is to not restrict yoursefl to 300 cal a day or anything under1200-1500. Your body will go into starvation mode and retain more water and food and in the long run it will make you fatter and unhealthy.
