Avatar m tn Due to stomach problems, I have decided to try a Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Has anyone experienced relief on this diet? So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
362249 tn?1441315018 How common is it that i will get another one or how easy? Im still getting over it i took the anti biotic the dr prescribed and i dont itch or burn but the rash is clearing a lil bit slowly but im still using the cream on it. I told my DH about using "protection" and maybe that would help to keep all the yucky stuff off my skin which has worked and im glad but what happens if we decide to stop using them will it just come right bk? How long should i wait b4 deciding on that?
776302 tn?1241091853 All it takes is the will power to replace a carbohydrate rich food with one that contains protein and fat. I know it sounds counter-intuitive to eat fat to lose fat, but until you read up on a low carb lifestyle, trust me on this. In 7 months I've lost 30 pounds, almost 3 waist sizes, and it was almost too easy to be true. Don't decide to diet but rather adopt a new lifestyle of eating. That all it takes.
Avatar n tn I had good luck with the Carbohydrate addicts diet or CAD. I lost 50 lbs but as the time has gone by I have stayed at a higher weight than I like. Their web-site is http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com I have eaten this way for 12 years and it is easy to follow once you know the "rules" The diet also travels well and I can get the right foods anywhere on vacation.
Avatar f tn Carbohydrate cravings are a hallmark of insulin utilization problems, and often signal the onset of diabetes. You need to see a physician and request a test called an hba1c, and preferably a fasting glucose test as well. "Checking the sugar" is meaningless because at times you may have normal blood sugar, depending on when you have eaten.
1715838 tn?1330648200 Hopefully others who use the MH Diabetes tracker will come along and provide you with tips. In the meantime you can download the Atkins carb tool by Googling "atkins carbohydrate counter list". The food list is quite extensive and detailed and is 106 pages.
Avatar f tn When used in larger amounts, as in cooking and baking, these calories and carbohydrate should be accounted for by carbohydrate counting or by using starch/bread exchanges. As an example, one half cup of SPLENDA® Granulated contributes 12 grams of carbohydrates and 11 to 20 grams are counted as one starch exchange. In SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener Packets, sucralose is combined with maltodextrin and dextrose. These ingredients contribute 1 gram of carbohydrate and four calories per packet.

Avatar m tn Hello, before the availability of insulin patients with type 1 were treated with a no carbohydrate diet (ie their diet was mainly fat, and just a little protein). they were usually able to survive a few months on this diet. If a person is really type 1 (ie. their pancreas doesn't produce any insulin) they need injectable insulin to survive and be healthy. THere are cheaper insulins available (NPH N and R) which can still work well, if cost is an issue.
Avatar n tn A good probiotic, such as Prostora (available by prescription) or an over the counter product such as VSL-3 available online, and an over the counter pediatric digestive enzyme may be beneficial regardless of the cause. Additionally, a change to a grain free holistic diet may also help. Choose such brands as: Evo/Innova, Wellness, Natures Variety, Taste of the Wild, Instinct and others. Use 1/2 or less dry and 1/2 or more canned.
1660289 tn?1302556798 Dog Food (Canine Diet and Nutrition)/Diet for bladder stones Expert: Gail Vigneault - 6/23/2008 (Canine Nutritionist) Question My 12 year old dog had surgery to remove bladder stones a week ago. We don't have a definite diagnosis on the composition yet, but the vet believes they are the calcium oxalate type. Until we know for sure, she wants to put her on a RX diet - Royal Canin S/O, which offers support for all types of stones by controlling the minerals in the food.
Avatar m tn at first i thought it was due to high in take in carbohydrate (complex) but when i cut down on sugar, carbs i still see no changes. also i experimented a little as i thought i was allergic to some sort of cream that i was using so i completely stopped only to find out that nothings changed. so my final conclusion is mybe it is due to the sun hence i cant do anything about that as it is summer but i yet to disscover the cause/cure for my problem.
Avatar m tn Your blood glucose increase is most likely caused by what you ate. 5 pieces of bread is a lot of carbohydrate. Additionally some vegetables (carrots included) have a high carbohydrate content.
Avatar n tn A little while ago i had a nondiabetic doctor recommend a low carbohydrate diet to help keep my blood sugars low and when i mentioned it to my endocrinologist she said that that type of diet puts extra strain on the kidneys and since diabetics are already prone to kidney problems they should avoit it. i would recommend that at your next doctor appointment you ask to be referred to a dietician to go over the proper diet aspects for a diabetic.
