Avatar n tn Hello, I am in my early twenties and recently had my upper left premolar extracted and replaced with an implant. I know that bone loss can occur when a tooth is extracted, and the implant is supposed to prevent such bone loss from occurring, but will there be any bone loss at all? I am really concerned because I am so young and don't want my facial appearance to change. Thank you so much.
Avatar n tn it was vertically impacted. The surgeon removed the tooth and told me my nerve under the tooth was in tact, but he felt I would experience temporary loss of sensation resulting from the surgery. I am feeling numbness and discomfort (not pain) in my front lower jaw and my chin and lower lip from midline to my outer right lip area. It just seems strange to me that I'm feeling discomfort in this area more so than the actual area where the impacted tooth was removed... is this normal????
947190 tn?1286991297 I've been treated twice for chronic Hepatitis C. Since the onset of the first treatment, (February, 2004), I have been losing my teeth. They simply "break" apart and fall out of my mouth. There's no pain involved but, I now have only 1 1/2 teeth remaining in my mouth. None of my "Doctors" offer me any advice, help, direction. What is happening to me?????? (It's not just tooth loss either. Every body system is being affected).
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the percent of bone loss a tooth has to have before it is no longer able to be saved? Thank you.
Avatar m tn t have personal experiennce with this me but It is early someone with more information will be along soon to give you more helpful feedback.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am so sorry for your family's loss. It sounds like your nephew is experiencing anxiety.. I myself am 23 years old and suffer from anxiety as well and at times when sitting especially when eating I find myself rocking. This is not only a response to anxiety but it's also a way of self comfort. I would recommend that your nephew speaks with a therapist as soon as possible because it's very easy for this anxiety to spiral out of control.
Avatar m tn Tooth mobility may be caused by acute periodotal infection. Once the infection subsides, mobility will be reduced.
Avatar f tn Ok, I'm really confused. My dentist said I'm early perio with some bone loss and small pockets. He took a X-ray nut didn't probe yet. He said he will do this on my deep cleaning. Where am I confused? By reading everything my symptoms are mixes from early perio to advanced.
Avatar f tn I have a broken tooth and it has infected my gums . I'm going to the e.r will they induce a labor at 34 weeks ?
Avatar n tn If left untreated this condition can result in tooth loss. It also enhances the risk of stroke, heart attack and other health problems. Antibiotic mouth rinses, gels and oral antibiotics may be helpful in mild cases. In severe cases flap surgery and bone and tissue grafts may be necessary. Gum disease is the main cause of gum recession. The exact treatment can be decided only by a periodontist.Seek an early appointment and get evaluated. Keep me posted. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn Steroids negatively affect growth in children, result in bone loss, damage the adrenal glands, adversely affect immunity, and sometimes cause death. American doctors are being encouraged to seek other forms of treatment. I took inhaled steroids for emphysema.
Avatar f tn Certain infections can cause hair loss. Fungal infections of the scalp can cause hair loss in children. The infection is easily treated with antifungal medicines. Finally, hair loss may occur as part of an underlying disease, such as lupus or diabetes. Since hair loss may be an early sign of a disease, it is important to find the cause so that it can be treated. Let us know if you need any other information. Regards.
541456 tn?1394490622 Over twenty years ago a dentist told me I had bone loss on one tooth. Never affected me until three years ago I got a stabbing pain in it and a root canal. It was fine until three months ago. Now if I floss around it too aggressively it can hurt all night long . It also snags the floss. This is something new. Two months ago it became "rough" on the inside and snags floss. There is no bump or absess and it feels fine today.
Avatar f tn 1. Anemia — Children with leukemia often have fewer than normal healthy red blood cells and platelets. 2. Recurrent infections - repetitive viral or bacterial infections. They often have symptoms of infection such as fever, runny nose and cough 3. Bone and Joint Pain 4. Abdominal Distress 5. Swollen Lymph Nodes 6. Difficulty Breathing For her cold, I think you can try instilling saline nasal drops and encourage her to drink plenty of warm water.
471161 tn?1317190950 What this means is that this bacteria goes inside the tooth, under the filling, this creates an anaerobic environment (no oxygen) which these bacteria love and this creates a perfect environment for the growth of bacteria which produces acid, which will eat your tooth from inside out and if not caught early enough, this can cause loss of tooth or need for root canals. So I would not wait. These fillings generally last about 2-5 years.
Avatar f tn I'm having a terrible tooth ache and some friends.and my aunt suggested Vicodin. They said their doctors gave.it.to.them while they were pregnant and their children were fine. I would only take it in the rare nights I need it which is about 2 times in the same week every 2 months, that's all. I'm at my point where I ABOSULTELY CAN NOT SLEEP! Its 3 am here and tonight is one of those nights. What do you guys think?
Avatar m tn Once that happens, the tooth is usually not salvageable because it is now very brittle to begin with. A fractured tooth leaves a breeding ground for bacteria and eventual bone loss which can affect the neighboring teeth. If you do need it removed, I highly recommend an implant to replace it. The procedure is no worse than a root canal. It just takes alot longer to get to the finished product because of healing time. My DH has 7 molar implants and loves them.
Avatar n tn I am not sure which question to answer first. I do not use the cerec unit but I have seen it demostrated and know doctors that do use it and I don't think that is the problem. Not every root canal that is done, even if the tooth is non-vital(which means the nerve is dead) requires antibiotics. The antibiotics will control a clinical infection--that is to say if you have swelling or acute pain, but will not cure the infection under the tooth in the bone.
Avatar m tn It started when i was in my early twenties. A slight numbness and dull ache on the left side of my face about an inch from the bottom of my nose on a vertical plane. This feeling is continuous, but at time worsens. When it started i had brain scans which showed nothing abnormal. After years of trying to find out what is was and getting nowhere, and the doctor telling me i have to put up with it that is what i have been doing. The pain is worst when i am under stress.
Avatar f tn Food gets trapped between the gums and teeth causing the gums to pull away from the tooth and it turns to plaque which can only be removed by your dentist. If left untreated it can also lead to tooth loss due to bone loss. I hope this helps and wish you all the best. It's tough when you need dental care and can't afford it. Good luck.
Avatar m tn You need to see a dentist ASAP. Anytime a tooth starts to wiggle it is usually from bone loss or root absorption as turkee23 says. Please get to the dentist. Not to do so is to risk the loss of both of those teeth and it happens quickly.
Avatar f tn There is a gap between my crown and my other tooth where the GD ground my natural tooth away to fit the crown in. Both of mine have to be replaced the Prosthodontist stated. Lots of money in them. And the bad part is the GD thinks he did nothing wrong.
