So Friday night when I went into early labor (they stopped it) I had a metallic taste in my mouth a few hours before. I just got it again and started having contractions. Any already moms had this before labor?

Women don't usually have many obvious symptoms so early along, breast changes are common, tender swollen breasts, a missed or abnormal period. OUt of those who has been so lucky to have the metallic taste in the back of your mouth happen...need some advice. I had my first incounter of this tonight at work. and it was here for about 20 min & I drank some orange sour stuff. made it go away.. does it come and go? or is it usually constant? i'm only 11dpo so this is really early to ahve the "start of this" ...

But does HCG make you nauseous one full week after the shot? And give you that metallic taste? And give you those twinges? I know it's a pregnancy hormone, but is it just in your blood or does it put your body through the motions too? Thx.

t mind me asking, are you male or female? If female it could be an early pregnancy symptom. However if you google it, you will find that it could be due to a change in ones diet, anti-biotics, oral infections... the list continues. Some sources report that it is due to a lack of vitamins/minerals in the body (vitamin B and zinc). Also a high protein diet could be the cause. Try taking a general vitamin everyday and see if it helps you out.

both of those that you describe, are common when you actually have ulcers. I have ulcers, and from time to time i'll get that nasty penny taste, also tastes like blood, and then an on and off again pain here my ulcers are. Usually the nausea feeling follos the taste. Also, acid reflux can do the same. I have heard that metallic taste is common in pregnancy, although with all 3 of mine i've never had that.

I think that dysgeusia would be applicable if you were in your well into your first trimester ( 6 or 8 weeks ). But the metallic taste that early is likely due to something else. Good luck to you and happy testing.

How reliable is having a metallic taste constantly as a pregnancy sympton? I've had it since Sunday and it's getting worse. It tastes like I've got teaspoons in my mouth and food just taste terrible especially sweet things. I was due for AF on Wednesday but I started brown spotting on Sunday and then started a very light flow on Wednesday night which remained very light and a pinky light red colour and has basically stopped now.

After everything was finished I still had the bad taste and metallic taste. He then said it was probably another tooth and it should be extracted. I'm not going back to him but started researching this taste thing and saw where people with Sjogrens or Sarcoid may experience this. I have been diagnosed with both (in early 2008). Six hot all negative. Went to drs did urine test negative then blood test hcg level less than two blood test negative. They calling in phantom pregancy.

Maybe a metallic taste? I was told that means low iron.
