The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.

Your PCP should order you a chest x-ray it really sounds like your lungs are very infected. Bit here are some other things could possibly going on with you as well. Bronchitis, Asthma, or Sinus Infection. Infections such as bronchitis or pneumonia can cause acute cough or a chronic COUGH. These infections can be caused by viruses, bacteria, or fungus. Viral infections do not respond to antibiotics.
Have you tried home remedies at all? Nux Vomica can even heal ulcers and Licorice root from the health food store can stop the pain - albeit temporarily. I hope your doctor gets to the bottom of it! Btw - if you have trouble smelling odors - you might need Zinc.
It seems to create more dusk than a normal wood stove or oil. This is what I found in our new home. I never had this until I started cleaning mass amounts of dust in our home hidden in areas around the house. We change and clean the airducts every season change 4x per year. I am ready to move to AZ, I live in WA ST and it is getting worse. Nothing works, thank God I retired, I could not go to work like this, I feel sorry for those that have to work with red swollen eyes.
I'm a natural health specialist / 24-7 researching scientist and I have all the remedies. I'm not a regular on this site and just registered to let you know in case someone wants my help.
My daughter was also diagnosed with asthma before 2 years old. She had chronic pneumonia. Sometimes her pneumonias would be diagnosed as an asthma problem, then they would try antibiotics and she'd clear right up. Once your daughter gets older it's easier to see the signs. My daughter is on Sinulair, Flo-Vent and Xeopenex. My daughters asthma is illness induced and allergy induced. My daughter is very allergic to milk and that is how her problems started. Does your daughter drink a lot of milk?
As far as the burning smell, I have been able to make it go away by putting various home remedies in my nose and using a neti pot. Now, sometimes I smell a sweet smell, like donuts, but I can make that go away, too, temporarily. So far, all my remedies are temporary, but I am thinking that with diligence, I will finally get rid of the problem. I do the following routine with the nose drops at least once a day, and use the neti pot once a day.
I have hayfever and coan't do much about that apart from keeping windoes closed at home and staying in the airconditionded office in the day, and taking the antihitamine as above. BUT the worst problem has been caused by a food allergy. I can avaoid the problem foods and eliminate the opst nasal drip part which was the worst. The antimistamine lets me eat normally. best of luck and keep the fluid intake up. it has helped me.
I have had the Mirena in for almost 3 years. My fiance is in the Marine Corps. He will be home for 10 days in April in which we are getting married and wanted to ttc. I am not moving with him til my son gets out of school the end of May. I concieved both my kids on the pill and patch. So obviously i am fertile mertile. I got it put in at my 6 week checkup and bled for about a month. Have not bled at all since then. Everyonce in awhile a few drops when i wipe.
It started about a year ago and for the longest time I thought maybe it was the water I was drinking at work, or the dust in my office. When the odor is triggered it does smell like mold or dust to me, so my best guess was dust. For a while it was happening maybe 2 to 3 times a week and the odor would last for a full day until I slept. Lately it's been less frequent. It happened yesterday and finally prompted me to do some searching online and that's how I came across this forum.
I go through a 240mg bottle in 8-9 days. My problem is I have allergies of dust and mold that make me cough till I am exhausted or sinus drainage from these allegies that cause sinus infections that settle in my chest and it starts all over again. I take it as a maintenance to keep from all my symptoms coming to the uncontrollable cough to the tickle in my throat that drives me nuts. I also have sleep apnea and acid reflux.

I have been suffering with excessive post nasal drip for the last 1 1/2 years. I went through allergy testing and found that I am allergic to dust and dust mites. The ENT prescribed generic Flonaise, and recommend that I use Zyrtec and Mucinex. It improved some, but recently I started using a Neti Pot (Neil Med) every night. I have notice a big improvement!
I HAVE THE SAME THING.. IT FEELS LIKE DUST OR CRUMBS IN MY THROAT, USUALLY RIGHT SIDE. I WILL COUGH CANT TALK OR BREATH, CORDS ARE ACTUALLY CLOSING.
When I was still working at college I met a student from Nigeria and became good friends with him. They have many many home natural remedies that we have never heard of before. I told him about my mucous problem like yours and he said every morning take 1 tablespoon of lime juice freshly squeezed before anything else you may ingest. I forgot about his advise until I read your post as mine is flairing up again and I'm going to try it.
I have taken many prescriptions and over the counter meds and home remedies. Now my rectum hurts. Need advice on getting rid of these horrible things. I'm fed up!!
I am really curious to know if there are any suggested remedies for this condition. As you stated, it is really distracting, and I also find it quite annoying. I do not like the smell of gasoline, and it actually interrupts my attempts to sleep; however, once I am asleep, I sleep well.
I was driving home still not feeling good and though why not I'll take it now while driving,, and within the first couple of sips and Mucus symptoms started to stop!! Man, if that was the Placebo effect! That was pretty powerful and I think it wasn't. I was given something that cured me in a matter of hours.. yet couldn't be cured within 1 year by many Doc's. If there is anyone out there who has my problem too,, excessive white sticky mucus, post nasal and cough,,, DO NOT GOTO YOUR GP PLEASE!
I had those symptoms in 1993 and was told by pulmonary specialist that I had developed bronchial asthma because I had pneumonia and didn't get treated so it turned into bronchial asthma. I had a cold for 3 months. (thought it was a cold) Also, I did work around a lot of chemicals and several different kinds of fumes. It took a year to get my cough and wheezing under some kind of control with prednisone, and different asthma medicines and inhalers.
Also make sure that they are reviewed by a doctor. Send them to me and I could get DR. CASHMAN (TMAU expert) here in my HOME TOWN to look at the results and have him determine through your amino acid profile if you look like you have TMAU or a similar enzyme problem (amino acid profile is another indication of TMAU or something similar). Good job with all the tests.
At the beginning of July I went to an allergist. He said I was allergic to 3 types of trees, 4 grasses, dust, molds and very mild allergy to cats. He put me on Rhinocort. NO results. Then I went back to him after already dumping over $200 in co-pays and medication and he said I have a sinus infection. I just finished the antibiotics and I still feel the same as I did when I first went to him in July. He had me on amoxicillin plus Astelin. I have tried Nasacort, Zyrtec, Claritin, Alavert, etc...
specialist who said there is nothing they can do to treat it, only prevent triggering the spasm, such as not getting a cold there for not coughing which seemd to trigger the spasm. This is not very practical solution considering I have 3 young children who bring home colds.
I am wishing you all the best and lots of baby dust!!! You are in my thoughts and I hope all of our dreams are going to come true soon.
Thanks so much for your comments. At least I know I am not going crazy. I found out after I wrote my message that my mom also used to experience the same thing. She says she is sure that it has something to do with impacted sinus tissue. The doctors still think I'm imagining it but one day I'll find one who takes me seriously and we'll figure out exactly what causes it. Thanks again and I hope you stay well.
