Duragesic withdrawals

Common Questions and Answers about Duragesic withdrawals

duragesic

Avatar f tn I've been on the Duragesic 100 for almost 18 years. I've had 3 cervical fusions & 1 lumbar laminectomy. The Duragesic 100 has controlled my constant, chronic pain & while I've never been pain free, the Duragesic certainty helped. However in the last 2 months, its as if the patches are no longer working. I've always had additional breakthrough meds, but now its as if I'm going through withdrawals.
Avatar m tn Its a low dose version of the subs they use here for withdrawals...Its was super good and never got addicted to it.. Took only when I really needed it.. Its a low dose quick acting mophine sub lingual..
Avatar f tn Most seem to be past the major acute symptoms at 30 days, then 90 days is another major land mark for energy. You are on a low dose for a long time, so it may be faster, but I noticed that the duration doesn't decrease with a taper or low dose. The severity should be way less than most of the stories you see around here. How long where you on methadone in total? How fast did you taper to 2mgs if you where at a higher dose?
Avatar f tn I know my pain is going to escalate when I go off things, but I am really fearful of the withdrawals. (I experienced the very beginnings of withdrawals once when a prescription was late in the mail. Had no idea what it would be like. I NEVER want to feel it again.) At this point, though, I have NO options due to the worker's comp issue. Maybe it's all for the best, but I need help here. I've got so much help here in the past ...
Avatar n tn I have been on the Duragesic Patch 74 mcg for about 3 1/2 years. During the last 6 months, I have become extremely depressed. I notice that it is worse after the second day any given patch is on. I have been treated for the depression with different antidepressants and so far have not found one that works. I am so desperate for help as the depression has taken over my life. Has anyone out there experienced this? Any input would be appreciated. I feel as though I am running out of time.
Avatar n tn I guess what I am looking for here is some feedback from those who have transitioned from duragesic into oral meds. See, I am alone and doing all of this alone is a scary road. Thank you folks...any questions, please feel free.
Avatar m tn I HAVE BEEN ON DURAGESIC FOR 6 YEARS, I WAS AT 100 4 MONTHS AGO THEN DRPPED IT TO 75 AND NOW AFTER 3-4 MONTHS I AM ON 50MCH PATCH... I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OFF THIS POISON.. ITS BEEN A 6 YEAR NIGHTMARE AND I AM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE IT END.. HAVE A HIP PROBLEM AND USED IT TO BUY MORE TIME UNTIL TOTAL REPLACEMENT.. THIS PATCH HAS BECOME MY WORSE DISABILITY.. Avatar m tn I can't thank all of you enough for your help! I've been on the 12mcg patch down from 25 for about a week now and have been going through all of the things mentioned in this thread. I honestly was thinking that this was all in my head! Waking up flipping and flopping all around the bed because I can't get comfortable.
Avatar f tn When put on the patch, will your body go through withdrawals symptoms? I dont feel ill in any way, I feel depressed and worthless...
Avatar n tn Using damaged or cut DURAGESIC® patches can lead to the rapid release of the contents of the DURAGESIC® patch and absorption of a potentially fatal dose of fentanyl. I once walked in a room as a nurse, found a patient who had taken off his patch and chewed it...he coded and died...there is alot of medication concentrated in the patch to be released over a 24 hour period...not all at once...if you cut them you would have no way of knowing the amount your wife would be absorbing..
Avatar n tn Does anyone have longterm experience on the Duragesic Patch? I'd like to speak with any long time users.
Avatar n tn I am on "the patch" (Duragesic 100mcg/q 3 days) and have been for the past several years. My teeth are bad, I can't get a real job because I can't pass a drug test and what my wife and family have to go through just is horrible. I have 2 good days out of 7 and I am DONE!!!! The reason I am on the patch has not changed. It is for the "treatment" of pain due to my MS and Spinal Stenosis.
Avatar n tn Of course, Duragesic has stopped production of the 25mcg patches so I am right now suffering severe chest pains on the generic patches. I have tried both sets (small slender strip and the larger gel-filled type) and both make my chest hurt to high heaven. Right now I can't sleep because of the nagging pain in my chest.
Avatar m tn My Doctor of 6 years recently dropped me for no reason. He had put me on Duragesic patches 5 years ago and over the years has upped my prescription to 125mcg/72hrs. I am having a hard time finding another doctor that will continue my meds. What do I do now? My only other option is to go to a clinic and try to get off the meds in the next 2 days before my script runs out. I had a doctor appointment today, but he said he won't prescribe the duragesic. what do i do now?
2178523 tn?1337618945 I have been on the 100 mcg Duragesic Patch as well as 120mg of oxycodone each day for about a year now. I stopped the patch cold turkey about 5 days ago and am slowly tapering down my oxycodone usage. I am also prescribed 4 mg of Xanax a day, which I am also trying to taper down. I was in a really bad car accident about 5 years ago and have had a total disc replacement at the L5-S1 level as well as a neurostimulator implanted.
620060 tn?1235515791 Hi, I'm scared and curious. I have been taking duragesic 25 for 3 months, then 50 for 3 months, and Norco to take care of break thru pain. Insurance is lost so can't take the patch. Having withdrawl still after over a week. I still take norco, and trying to keep it to every 4 hours. That works for about 2 hours and then the pain, chills, legs kicking feeling, all come back. Sweats at night are unbelievable. Wet, then cold, at least 3 times last night.
9880688 tn?1414115647 m really freaked out about withdrawals. My husband has had some serious surgeries recently and chemotherapy so I have to be able to take care of him on top of trying to deal with the withdrawal symptoms. At my disposal I have parafon forte (muscle relaxers to help with legs????), ativan, temazepam, vit. B12 shots and imodium. Any advice would be appreciated. Hubby told me to wear one of his duragesic patches for the first three days to help with the withdrawal symptoms. Is that true?
Avatar m tn I have chronic pain from Tarlov Disease and Interstial Cystitis. My pain has been well managed for 2 1/2 years using tramadol (ultram) for maintenance and lortab for break through pain. I have developed chronic kidney disease and my doctors are pushing me to get some exercise. I have found that with every exercise form I have tried I quickly get beyond the pain control offered bu tramadol and lortab so i can't exercise.
Avatar f tn m not a doctor), but I would think that if you are on duragesic (the most powerful painkiller on the planet), you don't have to take the solpadeine, and, if the amitriptyline is just to help you sleep, you probably don't need it, either, if you find the duragesic to be sedating. And in fact, you might not need the lyrica. Of course, that's assuming you are getting them all from one doctor. If you have more than one doctor, make sure they *all* know what you are taking.
Avatar m tn there had me on a medication called Temgesic. When I came back to usa I went on Duragesic Patch after a year or so.. I think this Temgesic is the detox meds you guys are talking about. I have a old box here and they were 2mg sublingal. Its buprenorfina (sp).. Brand as I say was Temgesic. Its a great medication for pain and I can never remember having the side effect of it that I have with this patch. I can't wait for the day I have none of this medication in my body.
Avatar n tn Hello again....I did get to my pain management Dr. this week and talked about the Duragesic Patch being partially responsible for this severe depression I am in. Of course they don't have a crystal ball but discussed switching me into another medication and spoke of the conversion table they use to determine what dose to use. My question is this....
