Avatar m tn com) As for my experience with transdermal fentanyl, when I used that patch, I found them effective to 2 days only, after only 3-6 months of use. For me, the problem with transdermal fentanyl was a rapid development of opioid tolerance. Within 18 months of use, my dose had gone from 25 to 100 ug, and I needed another adjustment upward. Instead of doing that, my doc and I chose to use another long-acting opioid medication. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn DURAGESIC® patches are intended for transdermal use (on intact skin) only. Using damaged or cut DURAGESIC® patches can lead to the rapid release of the contents of the DURAGESIC® patch and absorption of a potentially fatal dose of fentanyl. I once walked in a room as a nurse, found a patient who had taken off his patch and chewed it...he coded and died...there is alot of medication concentrated in the patch to be released over a 24 hour period...not all at once...
Avatar f tn Iso is the only real way to get skin oil off of the skin, which is the primary reason the patch adhesive comes unbonded from the skin. Of course if you have any Grain alcohol, it leaves no residue. The other reason is that Iso can cause skin irritation if not rinsed prior to the patch being applied. 4. Location, Location, Location - Skin Real Estate is a major factor in how well your patch stays applied.
Avatar m tn Fentynal (duragesic) patch is in fact pushing opiates into your system through you skin. I have personal knowledge that this transdermal entry does not affect me as an intravenous shot because its a hot shot not delivered over several hours and virtually non-invasive. Make sure you have an epipen in case you have a reaction. Opiates are not all created equal and neither are patches.

Avatar m tn Hi, I'm prescribed a lidoderm 5% patch, which is basically a patch infused with lidocaine. It helps with the nerve/muscle type pain I have in the lower left leg facing outward. By itself, for bad pain it wouldn't be worth the money, but I'm prescribed Lortab 10/650's ( a narcotic ) and the two used together seem to help lower this pain better than either one treatment alone.
Avatar f tn Hi Sandee; I have checked on that. I use Sandoz brand and they do not offer the adhesive patch. If you are a duragesic customer you are qualified for their patch. I use cloth sports tape. It doesn't make my skin break out and it's waterproof.
Avatar m tn See I had no problem coming off duragesic. I was on 150 patch and I tapered off completely in one month with hardly any w/d symtpoms. My doc did a slow taper od I think 25 mcg every 6 days. Also the clonidine patch made a HUGE difference in helping to wean. No jitters, it was great. Also, he gave me 20 5 mg oxycodones to help if I did feel w/d's. I seriously had no problem whatsoever. Now, I have to take Oxycodone for my disease and I'm trying to wean down and it SUCKS!!!
Avatar n tn I have found the Duragesic patch to be just about perfect. The first one I was on (can't remember the brand) was quite large and you could visibly see the gel. I had problems with it sticking properly and it would also buckle, no matter how flat I originally had it. The glue was also an irritant. I could never get it off my skin and it left a residue on my clothes that wouldn't come out.
Avatar m tn I have chronic pain from Tarlov Disease and Interstial Cystitis. My pain has been well managed for 2 1/2 years using tramadol (ultram) for maintenance and lortab for break through pain. I have developed chronic kidney disease and my doctors are pushing me to get some exercise. I have found that with every exercise form I have tried I quickly get beyond the pain control offered bu tramadol and lortab so i can't exercise.
Avatar n tn I have been on the Duragesic Patch 74 mcg for about 3 1/2 years. During the last 6 months, I have become extremely depressed. I notice that it is worse after the second day any given patch is on. I have been treated for the depression with different antidepressants and so far have not found one that works. I am so desperate for help as the depression has taken over my life. Has anyone out there experienced this? Any input would be appreciated. I feel as though I am running out of time.
Avatar n tn I'm wondering why you feel the Duragesic is bad for you? I just started the Fentanyl patch, 75 mcg every 48 hours plus oxycodone for breaththrough pain along with a few other meds I specifically witched over to the Duragesic brand a month or two ago, and that one work bet for me in many way.(It doesn't fall off or leave a glue residue on my kin or clothes.
Avatar n tn I find it odd that J&J won't provide you with any information regarding where to purchase their duragesic patches. I am on Opana ER and if you go to their website, http://www.opana.com, they actually have a pharamacy locator on the website. Is there some other brand of the fentanyl patch that is available at one of your pharmacies? Is your prescription specifically written for the J&J duragesic patch?
648944 tn?1241469694 I am glad they were able to help you. There are several manufacturer of the Fentanyl Transdermal Pain Patch. They are made a bit different from one manufacturer to another. Do your research and find the one that you will be the most comfortable taking. There have been some recalls and concerns with some of them.. There have been issues with leaked causing overdoses and some have been fatal. I would discuss this with my physician and/or pharmacist to determine which one will be right for you.
Avatar n tn Does anyone have longterm experience on the Duragesic Patch? I'd like to speak with any long time users.
Avatar m tn What Im thinking about doing, is somehow ask my PCP to switch me to the same equivalent dose of a duragesic fentanyl patch. That way I would be away from the temptation of the having the pills just laying around for me to take at will. I could simply put on a patch and forget about it for three days. In your experience, what are my chances for success with getting away from the oxys by switching to the patch?
Avatar m tn I just got back from Dr. that is out of town. We lowered the patch again today to 25mcg/h That is down from 100 4 months ago an 50 3 weeks ago. Its being filled now.. The last taper from 75-50 was really easy. I hope my luck does not run out. My question is he(Dr.)is dumbfounded as to what to give me for pain. I told him maybe a LOW dose quick acting MORPHINE that will get in there cut the bone pain and not hang around like this patch does..
374225 tn?1269899262 I have used a couple forms of the Generic Patch and I have to tell you that there is a huge diference. I was getting the Patch by Sandoz which was working great and then the Pharmacy decided that Sandoz was too expensive and restocked the shelves with the Mylan Patch. After refilling my scrip with the Mylan I had noticed over the next day that I had increased pain and felt fluish. I brushed it off and chocked it up to me just not feeling good.
Avatar m tn Hi, I was taking 30 mgs of oxycontin per day. I stared the fentanyl patch 5 days ago. After a couple of hours, I felt it had some effect, mostly a mental type of euphoric feeling. But then after, I´m really not sure if it´s working. I´m on the second day of my second patch. Wanted to know if this is normal? Could it take up to 5-6 days to feel a full effect from them.
Avatar m tn Have you ever tried a Duragesic pain patch? It is strong (in diff doses)and steady and lastly about 3 days if you've got good skin absorption. The med in Duragesic is about 100 times as strong as morphine mg for mg.
Avatar f tn i use the Fentayl 100mc mcg per hour; the(1) patch is placed on thr skin every 72 hours. The patch provides relief to me for up to 48-50 hours only. I am feeling some relief now after 4 years yhough i still take 3-4 oxycodone IR 15mg during the day. my only concern with pstch id thst they make 'SWEAT' alot; which i have never been one too sweat and the Mylan patches come off by the time i wake up in the morning. i must now use the i transparent cover up(derm0 patch.
Avatar m tn there had me on a medication called Temgesic. When I came back to usa I went on Duragesic Patch after a year or so.. I think this Temgesic is the detox meds you guys are talking about. I have a old box here and they were 2mg sublingal. Its buprenorfina (sp).. Brand as I say was Temgesic. Its a great medication for pain and I can never remember having the side effect of it that I have with this patch. I can't wait for the day I have none of this medication in my body.
Avatar n tn Hello again....I did get to my pain management Dr. this week and talked about the Duragesic Patch being partially responsible for this severe depression I am in. Of course they don't have a crystal ball but discussed switching me into another medication and spoke of the conversion table they use to determine what dose to use. My question is this....
443878 tn?1205103196 I have been on Duragesic patch (Fentanyl) 100 mcg/hr for 6 years. I have gotten so sick of the side effects I began to taper off it 4 mnths ago.. I went from 100 to 75 stayed there 4 months then dropped to 50 about 1 month ago.. Last week I went to 25mcg/hr. I advise is no matter what your pain is.. GET OFF THIS PATCH.. If you think you cant eat now.. you wait until that patch really kicks in,.. you will be able to go for days and never want anything to eat or drink..
Avatar f tn Hi, I take the 50 mcg (or whatever it is) duragesic patch. I was on the watson brand fenanyl patches for a couple of months and started having an alergic reaction to the adhesive. My skin broke out really bad around and under the patch. I got some of the name brand duragesics but my insurance will only cover part of it so its super expensive. I was hoping someone could tell me about a generic that they think works will that I can try next time.
