Avatar m tn Fentanyl (Transdermal, Transbuccal, Transmucosal, Sublingual) Norfentanyl 4-N-(N-propionylanilino) piperidine 4-N-(Nhydroxypropionylanilino) piperidine 1-(2-phenethyl)-4-N-(Nhydroxypropionylanilino) piperidine (Source: Remitigate.com) As for my experience with transdermal fentanyl, when I used that patch, I found them effective to 2 days only, after only 3-6 months of use. For me, the problem with transdermal fentanyl was a rapid development of opioid tolerance.
Avatar n tn DURAGESIC® patches are intended for transdermal use (on intact skin) only. Using damaged or cut DURAGESIC® patches can lead to the rapid release of the contents of the DURAGESIC® patch and absorption of a potentially fatal dose of fentanyl. I once walked in a room as a nurse, found a patient who had taken off his patch and chewed it...he coded and died...there is alot of medication concentrated in the patch to be released over a 24 hour period...not all at once...
Avatar m tn I was wondering if Fentynal patches contain even the slightest amount of morphine in them. A friend of mine is dealing with a terminal illness along with terrible pain. They gave him Fentynal patches(heavey guns) and he claims that someone said that they contain just a small amout of Morphine. He has had some eally bad experiences with Morphine and he is scared to use the patch. I told him I would try to ask my new friends on MedHelp first. Does anyone out there have a clue if this is true?
Avatar f tn Having used Duragesic 100mcg patches (x2 on occasion) for 9 years, I know of 4 good ways to keep the patch stuck: 1. If you're using Duragesic, Janssen Pharmaceuticals has long had a program for its Duragesic users who have this problem. They will send out free of charge 300 Bioclusive bandages (clear adhesive bandages) that will fit over the 100mcg patch. I've used them many times and they work well. You need to call them at the 800 number on the box.
Avatar n tn t provide you with any information regarding where to purchase their duragesic patches. I am on Opana ER and if you go to their website, http://www.opana.com, they actually have a pharamacy locator on the website. Is there some other brand of the fentanyl patch that is available at one of your pharmacies? Is your prescription specifically written for the J&J duragesic patch?
648944 tn?1241469694 Hi again, everybody. Many thanks for your thoughts, especially about the patches, which might solve one of my problems with the existing regimen--that they don't seem to last for the the full 12 hours between doses. I will definitely bring that up with my PM Dr. when I see him next week. Are there some patches that are more effective than others? I am also interested in the results of the nerve ablation (sp?), and wish you the best...
Avatar f tn ve never been pain free, the Duragesic certainty helped. However in the last 2 months, its as if the patches are no longer working. I've always had additional breakthrough meds, but now its as if I'm going through withdrawals. I've tried changing to different boxes of Duragesic but that hasn't helped. I was wondering if anyone else has recently had problems with their Duragesic 100?

564735 tn?1263943526 I was just wondering if anyone has used duragesic pain patches. My oncologist is recommending I use these patches from ongoing pain from tumors. I am a little nervous about using the patches but I am also over the pain. The pain has restricted my lifestyle. Going to go the grocery store or running errands has become difficult and I am no longer able to go to the gym. Has anyone had problems with these patches? If you used the patches, how long did you use them?
Avatar n tn I just started using a new brand of generic patches. I am using Alvogen 100 mcg patch x 4 (400 mcg total) every 48 hrs. I just switched from Duragesic brand name (I was getting these through Johnson & Johnson PAP now defunct as of 05/2020)to these this week. I noticed my kidneys were hurting right away. Has anyone had something similar happen?
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if shipment ofDuragesic Fetanyl patches has resumed? Our HMO is out and generic Fetanyl causes severe breathing problems.
Avatar f tn its the duragesic flat patches i also have very high blood pressure
Avatar f tn For me, the Mylan generics last the full 3 days, where none of the gel-reservoir patches do. I always got withdrawal symptoms by the third day. The gel patches also dispense too quickly with me. I'm dizzy and a bit nauseated the first day, fine on the second day, and withdrawing by the third day. The Mylan patches also stick much better. I've rarely had one fall off unlike the gel patches.
Avatar n tn t know the severity of your pain but I do know duragesic patches are really strong and hard to come off of .how long are they planning on keeping you on it .How are you doing my child was diagnosed with cancer a 8 .I know what this can do to the whole family .Its never easy.
Avatar n tn I have been on duragesic patches for 6 months now 50 mg every 48 hours and i take a lot of hot baths. 7 - 8 per day and while the patch is on my chest area. I always seem to feel like killing myself and hate the way I feel. I don't quite no the feeling other than I feel like everything is in slow motion, I feel like I can't be still. legs are always twitching, and feel totally meserable.
Avatar m tn I HAVE BEEN ON DURAGESIC FOR 6 YEARS, I WAS AT 100 4 MONTHS AGO THEN DRPPED IT TO 75 AND NOW AFTER 3-4 MONTHS I AM ON 50MCH PATCH... I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OFF THIS POISON.. ITS BEEN A 6 YEAR NIGHTMARE AND I AM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE IT END.. HAVE A HIP PROBLEM AND USED IT TO BUY MORE TIME UNTIL TOTAL REPLACEMENT.. THIS PATCH HAS BECOME MY WORSE DISABILITY.. ANYONE KNOW OF A DETOX OR WEAN OFF DRUG FOM HERE.. THE DROP ON THESE PATCHES ARE HORRIBLE..
Avatar n tn Of course, Duragesic has stopped production of the 25mcg patches so I am right now suffering severe chest pains on the generic patches. I have tried both sets (small slender strip and the larger gel-filled type) and both make my chest hurt to high heaven. Right now I can't sleep because of the nagging pain in my chest.
Avatar n tn Make sure the testosterone test is done early in the morning, before breakfast. You need an evaluation by an endochronologist. The transdermal patches are quite expensive, not always covered by insurance, and once you start them your natural ability to produce the hormone decreases and may completely atrophy. Thus you will be on the patches indefinitely.
Avatar n tn I have been on various narcotic pain medication for the past 8 years due to back problems and back surgery. My doctor had me on duragesic patches and I was not happy with the side effects since I live in the desert the heat caused the patches to release the meds quicker which felt good but then caused sweats when I had withdrawels, she prescribed me methadone to help with the withdrawel symptoms from coming off the patches.
Avatar n tn I have been going to pm for a little over a year now and have been using the duragesic patches for the last 4 months. The patches are a godsend and i can maintain a 4-5 pain scale. You do not mention a sleep aid or a muscle relaxer as part of your meds. I consider them both mandatory for this curse.
Avatar n tn Does anyone have longterm experience on the Duragesic Patch? I'd like to speak with any long time users.
