Avatar n tn In the first half of my comment, I would like to throw some light on the Tardive Dyskinesia (TD) issue raised here...! (By the way, I do not think you should worry about it in your case.) I know you have read a lot about TD already. (I read your comments in a separate post). Traditionally, TD is known to be caused by typical antypsychotic medicines, such as Chlordiazepoxide, Haloperidol and Trifluoperazine. We'll not discuss how these medicines produce TD.
Avatar n tn Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Td, Tdap) Vaccine Schedule How it is given: As a single injection that offers protection against all three diseases. How often/when to get it: One-time Tdap vaccination followed by Td booster every 10 years. Who should get it? Adults up to age 64 who have not previously had a Tdap vaccination in place of Td and adults age 65 and older who have not previously received Tdap and have or anticipate having close contact with an infant less than 12 months of age.
Avatar m tn I HAVE BEEN ON DURAGESIC FOR 6 YEARS, I WAS AT 100 4 MONTHS AGO THEN DRPPED IT TO 75 AND NOW AFTER 3-4 MONTHS I AM ON 50MCH PATCH... I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OFF THIS POISON.. ITS BEEN A 6 YEAR NIGHTMARE AND I AM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE IT END.. HAVE A HIP PROBLEM AND USED IT TO BUY MORE TIME UNTIL TOTAL REPLACEMENT.. THIS PATCH HAS BECOME MY WORSE DISABILITY.. ANYONE KNOW OF A DETOX OR WEAN OFF DRUG FOM HERE.. THE DROP ON THESE PATCHES ARE HORRIBLE..
Avatar m tn I got off of it because I experience extrapyramidal symptoms which I believe shows I may be more at risk for developing TD though my Dr has told me it is very rare to get TD on the atypical antipsychotics. Another Dr has now put me on Trazadone for sleep, 100 mg. I read there is a potential for TD on this med too but there I also know there is potential on SSRIs like Celexa/Lexapro which I have been on for 20 years with no problems and not concerned about TD on SSRIs.
Avatar n tn Using damaged or cut DURAGESIC® patches can lead to the rapid release of the contents of the DURAGESIC® patch and absorption of a potentially fatal dose of fentanyl. I once walked in a room as a nurse, found a patient who had taken off his patch and chewed it...he coded and died...there is alot of medication concentrated in the patch to be released over a 24 hour period...not all at once...if you cut them you would have no way of knowing the amount your wife would be absorbing..
Avatar m tn You should seek a qualified professional who knows about TD. Ask about something called the AIMS test. This is a test used to help diagnose TD. I hope you find the help you need. Best of luck, Andy...
Avatar f tn I've been on the Duragesic 100 for almost 18 years. I've had 3 cervical fusions & 1 lumbar laminectomy. The Duragesic 100 has controlled my constant, chronic pain & while I've never been pain free, the Duragesic certainty helped. However in the last 2 months, its as if the patches are no longer working. I've always had additional breakthrough meds, but now its as if I'm going through withdrawals.
Avatar f tn My last tetanus (Td) shot was in 2007 (9 years ago). I asked my doctor if I can have my booster shot now before I lose my health insurance in a few weeks. He told me that since I wasn't due for a booster until next year that I would have to wait (and therefore pay for it out of pocket). Is there really a danger in getting a booster a few months early, or is he just being a jerk?
1243620 tn?1274790697 My psych said today that anti-depressants have never caused TD. It seems like they are trying to drug me up all the time and saying the side effects I read about aren't real. :-/ But you have TD, so obviously it is. Has it not gone away? Did you try benzos to stop it? I looked up Amoryn quickly, will have another look later. Thanks again.
Avatar m tn i have td myself so i would like to try that if it works.
Avatar f tn it might be TD i might have it also my mouth shakes alot and i am on geodon 80mg x2 a day.
Avatar f tn It always fun to find out what you are having and that if baby wants you to know, but finding out is not always accurate. My sister was td at 20 week she was having a girl but when she delievered with was a boy. Im sure not matter what you have you will be happy and the names you picked out are beautiful!!!
Avatar f tn I have to get a Td or Tdap booster for college. However, when I was a baby, I had heart trouble (my heart stopped) and epileptic seizures. The doctors were not sure exactly what caused the seizures. I am now 23 years old and have not had a seizure since I was 3 days old. Is it safe for me to receive the Tdap vaccine?
Avatar m tn Yes, the usual age of onset of TD is between 2 years and 15 years (approx.), with 7 being the median age. That is, half of persons with TD develop it by 7 years. However, that by itself does not rule it out by any means. But technically his presentation does not yet meet the requirements of TD because he seems to be displaying only a single vocal tic right now.
1030383 tn?1338460785 My psychiatrist wants to put me back on Clozaril, and I hate the TD so much that I might, but Clozaril made me incontinent for four years, and sedated me so much that I couldn't keep my balance if I got up at night and it's just dumb luck I never had a bad fall. Those are just the big side effects! Does ANYONE know ANYTHING that would help in a movement disorder like this???
Avatar m tn I have chronic pain from Tarlov Disease and Interstial Cystitis. My pain has been well managed for 2 1/2 years using tramadol (ultram) for maintenance and lortab for break through pain. I have developed chronic kidney disease and my doctors are pushing me to get some exercise. I have found that with every exercise form I have tried I quickly get beyond the pain control offered bu tramadol and lortab so i can't exercise.
Avatar n tn I have been on the Duragesic Patch 74 mcg for about 3 1/2 years. During the last 6 months, I have become extremely depressed. I notice that it is worse after the second day any given patch is on. I have been treated for the depression with different antidepressants and so far have not found one that works. I am so desperate for help as the depression has taken over my life. Has anyone out there experienced this? Any input would be appreciated. I feel as though I am running out of time.
Avatar n tn Are you sure it's tardive dyskinesia? There are other movement disorders that can be caused by antipsychotics that aren't TD, and some can be controlled with things like cogentin. If you still can't reach your doctor, see if there's a crisis line for a psych ER in your area. If it's really bad, you could go inpatient, where they might be able to wean you off a lot faster, since they can supervise you medically in that situation.
Avatar f tn m not a doctor), but I would think that if you are on duragesic (the most powerful painkiller on the planet), you don't have to take the solpadeine, and, if the amitriptyline is just to help you sleep, you probably don't need it, either, if you find the duragesic to be sedating. And in fact, you might not need the lyrica. Of course, that's assuming you are getting them all from one doctor. If you have more than one doctor, make sure they *all* know what you are taking.
Avatar m tn there had me on a medication called Temgesic. When I came back to usa I went on Duragesic Patch after a year or so.. I think this Temgesic is the detox meds you guys are talking about. I have a old box here and they were 2mg sublingal. Its buprenorfina (sp).. Brand as I say was Temgesic. Its a great medication for pain and I can never remember having the side effect of it that I have with this patch. I can't wait for the day I have none of this medication in my body.
