Common Questions and Answers about Duragesic prescribing information

duragesic

Avatar n tn t provide you with any information regarding where to purchase their duragesic patches. I am on Opana ER and if you go to their website, http://www.opana.com, they actually have a pharamacy locator on the website. Is there some other brand of the fentanyl patch that is available at one of your pharmacies? Is your prescription specifically written for the J&J duragesic patch?
Avatar f tn I found this, not sure of the accuracy of the whole article, but copied it for you. I've never used the patches, but this seems like very good info. Perhaps someone else can comment on the accuracy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The recommended procedure is to clean the area with water and then apply the patch. However, for anyone who has used Fentanyl Generics or Duragesic, we know that's ridiculous.
Avatar f tn Its just the way it is now, the AMA is under attack by the US government for prescribing and over prescribing pain meds in the past 10, 20 and even 30 years. Now the Medical Association is suggesting using biofeedback and meditation and yoga and tai chi for pain issues along with therapy that uses talk techniques and journaling. Your mom is not going to have much luck doctor shopping, not like years ago, and she needs to talk with her doctor as to what he suggests for her specific needs...
Avatar f tn t know what your condition is (this is an anonymous forum), but given the information you posted, here is what I would do if I were in your shoes. I would make an appointment with your doctor and say something like this: "Doctor, it sure seems like I am on a lot of different medications. Here, I wrote out a list for you. [The written list is for your doctor's convenience -- so he has the list right there in front of him, in case he doesn't remember all your meds.
Avatar m tn I HAVE BEEN ON DURAGESIC FOR 6 YEARS, I WAS AT 100 4 MONTHS AGO THEN DRPPED IT TO 75 AND NOW AFTER 3-4 MONTHS I AM ON 50MCH PATCH... I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OFF THIS POISON.. ITS BEEN A 6 YEAR NIGHTMARE AND I AM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE IT END.. HAVE A HIP PROBLEM AND USED IT TO BUY MORE TIME UNTIL TOTAL REPLACEMENT.. THIS PATCH HAS BECOME MY WORSE DISABILITY.. ANYONE KNOW OF A DETOX OR WEAN OFF DRUG FOM HERE.. THE DROP ON THESE PATCHES ARE HORRIBLE..
Avatar n tn Using damaged or cut DURAGESIC® patches can lead to the rapid release of the contents of the DURAGESIC® patch and absorption of a potentially fatal dose of fentanyl. I once walked in a room as a nurse, found a patient who had taken off his patch and chewed it...he coded and died...there is alot of medication concentrated in the patch to be released over a 24 hour period...not all at once...if you cut them you would have no way of knowing the amount your wife would be absorbing..
Avatar m tn She is currently prescribed duragesic 50 mcg/hr and norco 10/325 for breakthrough pain. The doctor has been decreasing the norco and now she is unable to manage the breakthrough pain. She also sees a psychiatrist to help with the emotional and mental aspects of chronic pain. The laws in Washington state have recently tightened the prescribing recommendations for opiate pain killers which is why her doctor has decreased her norco.
564735 tn?1263943526 I was just wondering if anyone has used duragesic pain patches. My oncologist is recommending I use these patches from ongoing pain from tumors. I am a little nervous about using the patches but I am also over the pain. The pain has restricted my lifestyle. Going to go the grocery store or running errands has become difficult and I am no longer able to go to the gym. Has anyone had problems with these patches? If you used the patches, how long did you use them?
Avatar f tn I've been on the Duragesic 100 for almost 18 years. I've had 3 cervical fusions & 1 lumbar laminectomy. The Duragesic 100 has controlled my constant, chronic pain & while I've never been pain free, the Duragesic certainty helped. However in the last 2 months, its as if the patches are no longer working. I've always had additional breakthrough meds, but now its as if I'm going through withdrawals.
Avatar f tn Just looking for anymore information or advise about withdraws from Fioricet / I have been taking this medication from years from Migrain headaches, it's seemed the longer I was on it the less it helped so I would increase my doses because I could not get rid of my headaches the other day I just stopped using it because it was like just this non stop headache.
620060 tn?1235515791 Hi, I'm scared and curious. I have been taking duragesic 25 for 3 months, then 50 for 3 months, and Norco to take care of break thru pain. Insurance is lost so can't take the patch. Having withdrawl still after over a week. I still take norco, and trying to keep it to every 4 hours. That works for about 2 hours and then the pain, chills, legs kicking feeling, all come back. Sweats at night are unbelievable. Wet, then cold, at least 3 times last night.
Avatar m tn I had the same reaction with the percocet where I had to take 2-3 at once. I was just prescribed the duragesic patch 25mcg but have not filled the prescription, while researching on internet found the ingredients in this patch being some powerful meds that I have never experienced before and I am in fear of overdose, not being able to concentrate on my job or addiction.
Avatar f tn I finally went to a pain management clinic while I still lived in FL and through trial and error we finally found something the worked. I was prescribed Duragesic patches for longterm and oxycodone for breakthru pain. This worked very well allowing me full functionality of my life. But recently I was laid off and moved back home to KY, I lost my insurance so I have been off all my meds. Also I am now in a different town and must go see a new doctor....
Avatar m tn You can read my profile but bottom line is I have Failed Back Syndrome but now have no insurance and may be Blacklisted becuase of a suit against the doctor that operated on wrong disk in my back in 2001 and hence made me worse than I was. By April 10th I should get into Indian River Hospital's 'We-Care' program and start getting Injections and/or meds again. Last PM I saw was July last year and his injections worked better than I thought.
975514 tn?1324997938 I am wondering if LDN is just a hype right now in your opinion? Or is there scientific bases for doctor to start prescribing this for their patients? I am meeting many people who are swearing by this stuff already and most doctors have no idea what it is.
Avatar f tn The information you all have provided here is greatly appreciated and not to mention very informative. I'm working on learning everything I can to help two people actually. They're a couple so it's very hard. But I know there are problems with addiction for both of them. I figure the more knowledge I have the more prepared I will be. I have one of them willing to talk to me tonight. He knows what I'm going to be talking about and I'm so surprised he said ok...
Avatar m tn I have chronic pain from Tarlov Disease and Interstial Cystitis. My pain has been well managed for 2 1/2 years using tramadol (ultram) for maintenance and lortab for break through pain. I have developed chronic kidney disease and my doctors are pushing me to get some exercise. I have found that with every exercise form I have tried I quickly get beyond the pain control offered bu tramadol and lortab so i can't exercise.
Avatar n tn I have been on the Duragesic Patch 74 mcg for about 3 1/2 years. During the last 6 months, I have become extremely depressed. I notice that it is worse after the second day any given patch is on. I have been treated for the depression with different antidepressants and so far have not found one that works. I am so desperate for help as the depression has taken over my life. Has anyone out there experienced this? Any input would be appreciated. I feel as though I am running out of time.
408795 tn?1324935675 Although not as specific, it contain much of the same information and is readily available to the patient and the doctor. This information label was given to me by my GI to read and discuss regarding issues related to anger and depression and the potential for needing an AD sometime during trt. I would hope all doctors discuss this prior to trt, but this may not be the case. I'm also curious what "psychological evaluations" are being done.
Avatar m tn there had me on a medication called Temgesic. When I came back to usa I went on Duragesic Patch after a year or so.. I think this Temgesic is the detox meds you guys are talking about. I have a old box here and they were 2mg sublingal. Its buprenorfina (sp).. Brand as I say was Temgesic. Its a great medication for pain and I can never remember having the side effect of it that I have with this patch. I can't wait for the day I have none of this medication in my body.
Avatar f tn There should be a prescribing information sheet included with a prescription medicine that will list known side effects.
Avatar n tn I guess what I am looking for here is some feedback from those who have transitioned from duragesic into oral meds. See, I am alone and doing all of this alone is a scary road. Thank you folks...any questions, please feel free.
