I just got back from Dr. that is out of town. We lowered the patch again today to 25mcg/h That is down from 100 4 months ago an 50 3 weeks ago. Its being filled now.. The last taper from 75-50 was really easy. I hope my luck does not run out. My question is he(Dr.)is dumbfounded as to what to give me for pain. I told him maybe a LOW dose quick acting MORPHINE that will get in there cut the bone pain and not hang around like this patch does..

I had the same reaction with the percocet where I had to take 2-3 at once. I was just prescribed the duragesic patch 25mcg but have not filled the prescription, while researching on internet found the ingredients in this patch being some powerful meds that I have never experienced before and I am in fear of overdose, not being able to concentrate on my job or addiction.

What Im thinking about doing, is somehow ask my PCP to switch me to the same equivalent dose of a duragesic fentanyl patch. That way I would be away from the temptation of the having the pills just laying around for me to take at will. I could simply put on a patch and forget about it for three days. In your experience, what are my chances for success with getting away from the oxys by switching to the patch?

Using damaged or cut DURAGESIC® patches can lead to the rapid release of the contents of the DURAGESIC® patch and absorption of a potentially fatal dose of fentanyl. I once walked in a room as a nurse, found a patient who had taken off his patch and chewed it...he coded and died...there is alot of medication concentrated in the patch to be released over a 24 hour period...not all at once...if you cut them you would have no way of knowing the amount your wife would be absorbing..

See I had no problem coming off duragesic. I was on 150 patch and I tapered off completely in one month with hardly any w/d symtpoms. My doc did a slow taper od I think 25 mcg every 6 days. Also the clonidine patch made a HUGE difference in helping to wean. No jitters, it was great. Also, he gave me 20 5 mg oxycodones to help if I did feel w/d's. I seriously had no problem whatsoever. Now, I have to take Oxycodone for my disease and I'm trying to wean down and it SUCKS!!!

I was telling her that effectiveness was failing after 48 hrs. She had do the urine test and it showed no narcotics in my system. I was wearing a patch that I had put on the previous morning, replacing the patch I had worn for 72 hrs. Any ideas or has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have chronic pain from Tarlov Disease and Interstial Cystitis. My pain has been well managed for 2 1/2 years using tramadol (ultram) for maintenance and lortab for break through pain. I have developed chronic kidney disease and my doctors are pushing me to get some exercise. I have found that with every exercise form I have tried I quickly get beyond the pain control offered bu tramadol and lortab so i can't exercise.

I have been on the Duragesic Patch 74 mcg for about 3 1/2 years. During the last 6 months, I have become extremely depressed. I notice that it is worse after the second day any given patch is on. I have been treated for the depression with different antidepressants and so far have not found one that works. I am so desperate for help as the depression has taken over my life. Has anyone out there experienced this? Any input would be appreciated. I feel as though I am running out of time.

I'm wondering why you feel the Duragesic is bad for you? I just started the Fentanyl patch, 75 mcg every 48 hours plus oxycodone for breaththrough pain along with a few other meds I specifically witched over to the Duragesic brand a month or two ago, and that one work bet for me in many way.(It doesn't fall off or leave a glue residue on my kin or clothes.

I find it odd that J&J won't provide you with any information regarding where to purchase their duragesic patches. I am on Opana ER and if you go to their website, http://www.opana.com, they actually have a pharamacy locator on the website. Is there some other brand of the fentanyl patch that is available at one of your pharmacies? Is your prescription specifically written for the J&J duragesic patch?

I am diagnosed with 3 herniated cervical discs and fibromyalgia. I have a history 2 years ago of substance abuse (because of these pain issues). I have been thru a year of treatment and clean for 2 years. Finally referred to pain managment MD who is reluctant to prescribe opioids to treat chronic pain. Tried duragesic patch - 25 mcg TOO strong and 12 did nothing.

I found this, not sure of the accuracy of the whole article, but copied it for you. I've never used the patches, but this seems like very good info. Hi, I was taking 30 mgs of oxycontin per day. I stared the fentanyl patch 5 days ago. After a couple of hours, I felt it had some effect, mostly a mental type of euphoric feeling. But then after, I´m really not sure if it´s working. I´m on the second day of my second patch. Wanted to know if this is normal? Could it take up to 5-6 days to feel a full effect from them.

there had me on a medication called Temgesic. When I came back to usa I went on Duragesic Patch after a year or so.. I think this Temgesic is the detox meds you guys are talking about. I have a old box here and they were 2mg sublingal. Its buprenorfina (sp).. Brand as I say was Temgesic. Its a great medication for pain and I can never remember having the side effect of it that I have with this patch. I can't wait for the day I have none of this medication in my body.

Hello again....I did get to my pain management Dr. this week and talked about the Duragesic Patch being partially responsible for this severe depression I am in. Of course they don't have a crystal ball but discussed switching me into another medication and spoke of the conversion table they use to determine what dose to use. My question is this....

t think I want the patch or methadone. That patch sounds like it would be good to prevent abuse, but I read online that people can and do abuse it and it sounds like it has bad withdrawls, too. My plan is just to take as prescribed. Given the withdrawals I've just gone through, I keep telling myself that taking as prescribed should give me pain relief, and it does...and not be as hard to get off. I may have to have an epideral, so that may relieve the pain, too.

Hi I am 30 yrs old and I have been on the fentanyl patch for over a year because of a shoulder surgery that got messed up. I started of on 25 mcg and now I'm on 125 mcg that I change every 48 hrs. I am also taking any where from 6 - 8 percs a day and I also take 20 mg of a muscle realxer called baclofen 3 times a day. My husband and I decided to try and have a baby which means I have to bite the bullet and just deal with the pain and get off all the drugs.

I used the patches for about 6 mths at the first half of last year when a chemo I was on caused my fistula great pain. I started out on the lowest patch and worked my way up to the highest patch because nothing would touch the pain. I was also taking Oxy drops (which are immediate relief), oxy in pill form, and ibuprofin (all together at different times).

I have found the Duragesic patch to be just about perfect. The first one I was on (can't remember the brand) was quite large and you could visibly see the gel. I had problems with it sticking properly and it would also buckle, no matter how flat I originally had it. The glue was also an irritant. I could never get it off my skin and it left a residue on my clothes that wouldn't come out.

I was prescribed 25mcg/h patches 5 months ago. The pharmacist switched to a cheaper mfg and these patches stick to my clothes, so I frequently tape them on. This month, one ended up in the wash another in a swimming pool. Pain Management group makes it very clear they do not want to hear 'stories' about coming up short, especially from someone with a history of abuse, so I won't even bother calling them. But I am concerned about my next appointment when given a urine test.

The conversion for the fent for that dose is 50 to 75Mcg. My dr said to try changing the patch every 2 instead of every 3. My insurance won’t pay for this non-standard dose. Idk what to do. I’m in constant pain, sweating crazy - i’m in a nightmare.

I just started using a new brand of generic patches. I am using Alvogen 100 mcg patch x 4 (400 mcg total) every 48 hrs. I just switched from Duragesic brand name (I was getting these through Johnson & Johnson PAP now defunct as of 05/2020)to these this week. I noticed my kidneys were hurting right away. Has anyone had something similar happen?
