Common Questions and Answers about Duragesic mcg

duragesic

Avatar f tn I am on the 50 mcg/hr patch and inside the prescription leaflet it shows morphine conversions to up to 300 mcg/hr of fentanyl, which is equal to three 100 mcg/hr patches. Because you are on 100 mcg/hr of fentanyl, keep in mind that the other "newer" medications that weathergirl mentioned looking into, will require a large dose to equal the amount of fentanyl you are getting through your current dose.

ITS BEEN A 6 YEAR NIGHTMARE AND I AM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE IT END.. HAVE A HIP PROBLEM AND USED IT TO BUY MORE TIME UNTIL TOTAL REPLACEMENT.. THIS PATCH HAS BECOME MY WORSE DISABILITY.. Avatar n tn I am using Alvogen 100 mcg patch x 4 (400 mcg total) every 48 hrs. I just switched from Duragesic brand name (I was getting these through Johnson & Johnson PAP now defunct as of 05/2020)to these this week. I noticed my kidneys were hurting right away. Has anyone had something similar happen?
Avatar n tn Also my husband just told they gave him a credit card from Duragesic to pay for his patches, at that time he was on 2/100 mcg every 48 hrs. His Dr is winging him back and now he is on 12 mcg and is catching heck, this is a nightmare coming down off of these patches, I see the pain in his eyes and cries and his attitude is terrible. I have been there for him but I am now getting tired of his attitude, its like its not him.
Avatar f tn 150 mcg is a hefty dose. I think the only way to do it is taper down very, very slowly. I came of 75 mcg CT and would not recommend that. Is your patch gel filled or flat? Do you have any other health issues? Cardiac, Zhbp?
Avatar n tn I have been on the Duragesic Patch 74 mcg for about 3 1/2 years. During the last 6 months, I have become extremely depressed. I notice that it is worse after the second day any given patch is on. I have been treated for the depression with different antidepressants and so far have not found one that works. I am so desperate for help as the depression has taken over my life. Has anyone out there experienced this? Any input would be appreciated. I feel as though I am running out of time.
Avatar m tn this is a very tuff one as you do need something for pain. I guess you just need to find your comfort level using the least amount of drugs. When are you getting your hip replaced ? Remember pain does increase while on these meds and during tapering.
Avatar f tn has been able to identify the cause of to date. I weaned myself off of a 50 mcg patch by dropping 12 mcg each month, and that was extremely difficult. Not sure what strength you were at however at any strengh that stuff is evil! Glad that is behind me. My problem now is with percocet, as I am taking 80-90 mgs/day, every day, and have been for over a year. I have to start taking them before getting up in the morning to fight off the hellish feelings of withdrawal...
Avatar n tn Fentanyl patches typically start at 25 mcg/hr (micrograms). I have seen lower doses, 12.5 mcg/hr, but typical starting dose, for medical reasons is 25 mc/hr. Most patients on higher doses of Fentanyl (also called a Duragesic patch) would be about 100 mcg/hr....docs will prescribe higher doses, but typically the max dose you see in the medical field is 100 mcg/hr for chronic pain.
Avatar f tn Hi I am 30 yrs old and I have been on the fentanyl patch for over a year because of a shoulder surgery that got messed up. I started of on 25 mcg and now I'm on 125 mcg that I change every 48 hrs. I am also taking any where from 6 - 8 percs a day and I also take 20 mg of a muscle realxer called baclofen 3 times a day. My husband and I decided to try and have a baby which means I have to bite the bullet and just deal with the pain and get off all the drugs.
Avatar n tn I've been on a duragesic patch for 4 yrs. I need to get off of it for my kids. I;ve tapered down from 75mcg to 25mcg. I get really aggitated at night. I also get hot flashes and fluttery feelings. Any ideas on ways to help?
Avatar f tn I was on Vicoden for over three years, and now am getting good results with a 25 mcg Duragesic patch (change every three days) and Lyrica, 150 mcg twice daily. This is the most pain free I have been in recent memory. I hope that your regimen helps. This is a wonderful forum, and I am sure that there are many others who are going to share their thoughts. All my best to you, and I hope this works for you.
Avatar n tn Hello again....I did get to my pain management Dr. this week and talked about the Duragesic Patch being partially responsible for this severe depression I am in. Of course they don't have a crystal ball but discussed switching me into another medication and spoke of the conversion table they use to determine what dose to use. My question is this....
Avatar n tn I'm wondering why you feel the Duragesic is bad for you? I just started the Fentanyl patch, 75 mcg every 48 hours plus oxycodone for breaththrough pain along with a few other meds I specifically witched over to the Duragesic brand a month or two ago, and that one work bet for me in many way.(It doesn't fall off or leave a glue residue on my kin or clothes.
Avatar f tn If you are not getting the relief you need from the 12 mcg then I would go to the 25 mcg and put up with the dizziness for a week or so. You will not have to live your life with dizzyness as you think.....You should listen to what I say......>>>>>>IT GOES AWAY<<<<<< I sound like a broken record. It sounds to me that you are not willing to put up with some discomfort for the first month or so until your body gets use to it.
Avatar f tn I am scared I cut my 100 mcg/hr patch in half as last night I put it on and feel horrible, so tore it off, called on call doc, he was not an expert and said to ask pharmacy, who did not advise this, though I need to have something, and since mylan brand and back to my normal 50 thought it will be okay, but still feel very odd, or not enough relief. what should I do? I do have the 200 mcg/ citrate succers on hand.
Avatar f tn I have huge problems here. I'm going to try to stay on topic but things are pretty convoluted. Problem number 1 ... I'm on the Duragesic patch, 75 mcg every 48 hours. (In truth I change it every 72 because of fear on my part.) Last appointment told her I wanted to wean down and got a script for 50 mcg. Trouble is, in this location apparently they are not manufacturing the Duragesic and there is no date when they will be releasing more. No info on why.
Avatar f tn I was just prescribed the Duragesic Pain Patch after suffering for months with terrible neuropathy in my feet. I could hardly walk the past few days and even called a Suicide hot line for help. I was desperate. I have Liver Disease so the doctors do not want to give me any anti inflammatory medication. The dr. prescribed the patch today and Percocet for breakthrough pain. Can anyone tell me what to expect from the patch. I really appreciate anyones information. Thank you so very much.
Avatar m tn The drug fentanyl is mesured in Micrograms (mcg.) , where as Vicodin is measured in milligrams (mg.). So strength wise, the duragesic patch Fentanyl is alot stronger than any healthy dose of Vicodin. a 75 mcg. dura patch can last three days depending on your tolerance, but three days is typically as long as it lasts. But also these two drugs are different in how they are suppose to be used. The Vicodin is for breakthrough pain, whereas fentanyl is meant for around the clock pain relief.
2178523 tn?1337618945 I have been on the 100 mcg Duragesic Patch as well as 120mg of oxycodone each day for about a year now. I stopped the patch cold turkey about 6 days ago and am slowly tapering down my oxycodone usage. I am also prescribed 4 mg of Xanax a day, which I am also trying to taper down. I was in a really bad car accident about 5 years ago and have had a total disc replacement at the L5-S1 level as well as a neurostimulator implanted.
Avatar n tn Using damaged or cut DURAGESIC® patches can lead to the rapid release of the contents of the DURAGESIC® patch and absorption of a potentially fatal dose of fentanyl. I once walked in a room as a nurse, found a patient who had taken off his patch and chewed it...he coded and died...there is alot of medication concentrated in the patch to be released over a 24 hour period...not all at once...if you cut them you would have no way of knowing the amount your wife would be absorbing..
Avatar m tn She is currently prescribed duragesic 50 mcg/hr and norco 10/325 for breakthrough pain. The doctor has been decreasing the norco and now she is unable to manage the breakthrough pain. She also sees a psychiatrist to help with the emotional and mental aspects of chronic pain. The laws in Washington state have recently tightened the prescribing recommendations for opiate pain killers which is why her doctor has decreased her norco.
Avatar f tn I have been on duragesic pain patches 25 mcg for almost two years. I switched back to my regular doctor since they were gone for over 18 months. I have been taking Norco 10s 8 per day, and ativan and lithium and flexeril and trazodone. My new doctor doesn't think I should be on the patch since I am only 39. However, I was in a tragic automobile accident three years ago and almost died. I suffered fractures of T3 4 5, Fratuctres C 7, could have been paralyzed, but lucky.
Avatar f tn Myself, I have been wearing a 100 mcg. Duragesic fentanyl patch changed every 72 hours, for about 4 years now. I also have been taking all sorts of meds for breakthrough pain, oxycontin through Nucynta 50 mg. I had to stop the Nucynta because of my epilepsy. My pain management doctor just keeps pumping this poison into me. My dream is to be free of all narcotics, but until I can get some sort of relief (probably in the form of surgery) the medications will have to stay.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am very knowledgeable in this area. THE PATCH IS NOOOOO GOOD!!! Good for you on looking into it first. I, on the other hand, did not. I started 11/07. I have herniated discs and fibromyalgia. I am so sorry I ever took it. It is actually 80-100 times stronger than morphine. It tricks the brain into thinking you have more pain than you have, this over time. When I first put that thing on I thought it was a God sent.
